A bit difficult to follow along with if you're not really interested in white collar crime but fantastic acting, really good writing and story telling. A+ cast. Paul Giamatti is a stand out. I'd personally enjoy more diversity but definitely worth the watch.
Ask me for the first few seasons: great show. Then it plummeted into unbelievable plot lines driven by a STRONG, a VERY strong SJW agenda that ruined it. This reminds me of Succession, where they try to spotlight the sins of the wealthy elite but it's just not that interesting and you end up hating everyone.
The acting is excellent (except for a few actors), the rest is "meh".
The show is no good without Damian Lewis.
Show was Great till Bobby Axe
This is one of the shows I look forward to every episode. The story is exciting and the cast electric and it never drops in quality from week to week. I'm a BIG lover of suits and was gutted when it ended but this is my go to replacement and the fact that David Costabile was in both and they've recently had Rick Hoffman as a guest star in Billions makes it even better. To many more seasons!
Brilliantly ended... and that's how a great show comes to fruition... all dots connected... all knots unentangled... and a happy-ending (the pun & innuendo intended)
Yo, my friend! If you're looking for a show that's more cutthroat than the stock market, then you gotta check out "Billions." This show has more power moves than a chess game, more drama than a soap opera, and more money than a Saudi prince.
The show follows the battle between Bobby Axelrod, a billionaire hedge fund manager, and Chuck Rhoades, a U.S. Attorney who's determined to take him down. It's like a modern-day David and Goliath story, if David was a rich dude in a suit and Goliath was the entire financial system.
Bobby is like the Wolf of Wall Street, with more charm than a snake oil salesman. He's like the Tony Stark of the show, with more money than a lottery winner. Chuck is like the Batman of the legal world, with more determination than a bulldog. He's like the Elliot Ness of the show, with more righteousness than a Sunday preacher.
But let's be real, the real stars of the show are the supporting characters. They're like the minions of the 1%, with more ambition than a Kardashian. They're like the extras in a Scorsese movie, with more loyalty than a lapdog. They're like the henchmen in a Bond film, with more style than a fashion model.
And the billionaires? Don't even get me started. They're like the supervillains of the show, with more greed than a dragon hoarding gold. They're like the Lex Luthors of the real world, with more power than a dictator. They're like the Ebenezer Scrooges of Wall Street, with more arrogance than a peacock.
Whether you're a fan of finance or just like to watch people get what's coming to them, "Billions" is the perfect show for you. So grab your champagne flute, put on your best suit, and get ready to root for the underdog in this epic battle of money, power, and ego. Just don't forget to check your bank account after the show, my friend!
After first two brilliant seasons this show has really gone downhill, too much willy-waving and obnoxious rich twats.
Excellent tv show, highly recommend.
very similar to 'Suits', but on steroids...
You can't knock the acting. The premise seems relevant (The majority of this is me confusing Andrew Ross Sorkin with Aaron Sorkin). I don't know if I just need to give it more time or if I'm too well-read about these types of people and financial crash that it's hard to for me to feel hooked. The fantasy of a newsroom that didn't suck in The Newsroom I bought. An idyllic President and complicated staff I went in for with The West Wing. Watching rich people spend money and debate numbers and a sort of dreamlike example of a prosecutor to pursue them...I guess it just makes me sad. That's not the shows fault of course, but glorified versions of billionaires that almost celebrates their bad boy getting away with it all maybe hits a little too close to home. I love Damien Lewis after Homeland, but his character I want to burn, and not because he has to work that hard to be hated. I think about Entourage where at least they're childish mockeries of the lavish lifestyle and attitudes and the show could kind of make fun of itself. Or Ballers tends to lean well on the humor to distract from the slackish story. We'll see where it goes.
@dogg724: why are you talking about Aaron Sorkin? This show is co-created and co-written by Andrew Ross Sorkin.
Nothing to do with the creator from Newsroom or West Wing.
Imo the acting is very good. The characters and storyline are very interesting too. Only 3 episodes so far but I hope the whole season will stay as good.
Seasons 1-5 are great, it is a battle between two deeply flawed characters. I went back and forth between rooting for both of them.
You want Axe to win because he is a self made man, and we all want to be that. Chuck and his team are trying to uphold the law, at least in theory. And it’s also a challenge for them both to be with Wendy.
Now season 6 doesn’t have any of that, Prince while a billionaire is constantly trying to do things that would benefit a great number of people. Yes ultimately it’s to his benefit but that’s not a crime. And Chuck has now become just a bully that does abuse his power and position to attack someone who is doing good.
I don’t hold with people saying that it’s woke now. There has always been an underlying theme that the pursuit of money/power is hurting these people and damaging us all.
But season 6 shifts and Prince is doing good and Chuck is stopping it just because he feels it’s wrong to have so much money/power, when he is abusing his own.
Chuck is a hypocrite. He is just as big of a crook and criminal has the people he tries to prosecute.
I've grown to really like this show. I love the insults that are said between Axe and Chuck. I just wish the premiere was 2 hours long instead of an hour.
when it's coming BACK ?
This one is a classic case of "starts great and goes downhill". The first couple of seasons is a pretty high benchmark for stock/money dramas. Tensions are high, characters are rock solid, people doing sleezy things. However, as seasons progress it gets a tad repetitive, slow, and there is a season without the main character. If it sounds interesting, you should check it out. But you might want to check out after the first couple of seasons.
Average Season Review: 7.43/10
Recommendation: At Least Give it a Whirl (For Wall Street Drama Fans)
I loved watching this series over the years! It's easily one of my favourites! I will miss this one! A deserved 8/10 for me!
yay! Bobby is back. now the show is watchable again.
The first few seasons were good then by season 3 going through the end things got super stupid.. last few seasons had characters you care nothing about and crap story lines... Glad they killed it...
I am not uncertain that this show is great.
I will really miss this one :-/ what an awesome show!
Some of the middle seasons were a bit off, but I think it ended strong, returning to the things from the beginning.
Won't grade it for now, but 2 episodes in seems to be a poor mix between Wolf of Wall Street and Suits. can't really tell how it's over 8 stars on IMDB
First season was entertaining. Then they just make excuses to keep stretching the damn thing out and it kept getting worse and worse. Even by season 3 it's just a shell of how good season 1 was
Is there going to be a season 07? Seems like it was left open at the end of 06.
This show is now dead, the last 2 seasons (5 and 6) have transformed a once great show into a woke pile of puke, weak and floppy....this show needs to be cancelled or bring back the edge damn you. Wokeness is ruining everything, i used to LOVE this show, now i'm sad.
Season 5: A bit boring and repetitive at this point. Now with Axe gone, i hope they will wrap everything up in an explosive final season.
Season 6: again kind of boring. A decent show for sure and some of the new characters are good, but many of the characters are pretty hollow now where what the say and do doesn't really matter yet they have too much air time. The way everything is telegraphed it makes chuck out to be an idiot...
Season 7: Well, at least they wrapped it up with a decent ending. At this point they are just going downhill towards an ending, but it was a decent season that kept moving fast enough to keep it interesting...
If you like shows set in the financial sector/white collar criminals, then you will most likely enjoy the show. Otherwise it may get boring... ofc, the real world lesson here is that rich people are never on your side... never...
next season is January 23 rd
I watched this via Stan
Serie brillante , excelentes actualizaciones. Y el bien y el mal o la decencia y lo no moral como contrapartida en los protagonistas principales
I just love this show season by season
This is a great show!
This show could be a good one, but it is now one of the worst.
I don't know why the directors made series with a typical recipe.
The series has its moments. Other than that, I don't know why I continue to watch it.
one of the best shows i have ever watched and now i'm Re-WATCHING it alllllllll! Seeason2 i am ready (almost).
Too much talking in the middle part of this movie
simply awesome. we need more of that!
WOW, just wow. Great acting, great style, and elegant delivery by fantastic actors. I wasn't sure about this show, but one episode sold me. Where else can you get the classic ivy league juggernaut with an idealistic and tortured brilliance verses a street smart, self-made man, who believes he represents the American dream, and will die to protect what he's built.
Acting is perfect very good scenario

The hook for this show isn't the financial misdoings, but in the same vein as House of Cards, this is a show about wielding power and leverage. The fun is in watching the characters finding angles on each other and exploiting them.
Hopefully the fun continues. The acting is good, the characters are compelling and the financial industry is a good enough back drop to provide interesting storylines.
