I personally wasn't that fussed about Gunvald, I always felt he was a bit of a 2-dimensional stereotype of the blokey rule-breaker, so him getting killed wasn't a big upset for me. I also think Steinar is a strong addition and already feels a far deeper character after this debut episode. It helps that Hivju is a terrific and charismatic actor.
