This episode is actually titled “The Other Side of the Ocean” instead of “The Warriors of Marley”
So the season starts with a 4 years time jump and we are seeing things from the other perspective. What we know so far:
The Curse of Ymir is 13 years.. When Eren spoke about it, he had 8 years left, and Armin had 13.. In the last episode of Season 3, we see a time jump but I don’t remember how much so I wonder how many years do they have left with the current time jump as well?
After the big reveal in the last season and the reality of titans, it was sad seeing all those titans being thrown out of the plane to meet their demise. It feels weird to root for Reiner and Zeke in this episode.
Not a big fan of the opening and closing sequences soundtrack.
I don't like this new story, I want the continuation of season 3... wtf is this, who cares about old characters and the history, give me Levi, Mikasa and others.
To all those who only watch the anime, you will be a little lost, but don't worry. The 1st episode, and I guess the next few, will serve to set the scene for the reveal at the end of Season 3.
I've read the manga, knew what would happen, but it still blew me out of the water. Oioioi indeed
But seriously: Mappa knew that they had to deliver and they really did. Their styles is different, more realistic with a crazy amount of attention to details. It takes a moment to get used to, but I can see how it'll work perfectly for what is to come.
Well, no one is prepared for what is going to happen.
Its not officially confirmed , does it???
Not impressed with this season, the quality and music doesn't have the same feel and effect on me as the show normally does
We here boys Amazing start
Oh it's changed now all fine
For those who are wondering, it is confirmed by crunchyrioll.
Dunno whether I should wait for this or read the manga...
i see my beautiful man reiner :kissing_closed_eyes:
I had to pause the episode multiple times to be able to connect the lines and know which time are we in right now, and what the hell is happening, lol!
I don't understand why Marleyans want the Founder's power. Zeke can already control Titans, can he not?
After a full rewatch of the show with a first time watcher it's great to get onto the new stuff now.
I read the manga a smidge past this episode so knew about the gear shift. Still doesn't take away from its effectiveness though. A bold move but AoT has always had this incredibly tight story and I have no doubts it will finish what it started with the finesse it's known for.
Being able to see the other side of the 'war' is so interesting. Like in The Last of Us 2 it allows us to see past the black and white, good vs evil rhetoric and that they're all just people fighting for what they believe is right.
Ok so aot season 4 episode one was crazy all around, hopefully next episode a little more will happen, coz this whole episode was just some mad fights, we get introduced to lots of new characters all on the enemy’s side, and we gotta see Reiner have a fight where we can kind of route for him which is cool, can’t wait to see eren again who was absent from this episode. Also the new op is ok, not as good as season 1 obviously but pretty good. I’ve been counting down the days for this episode for like 2 months and it was kinda worth it. I’d give the episode a 7/10
What an awesome season premiere. We're in for a wild ride! Love both the new OP and ED!
I love Mappa's style choices. Great start.
I hope anime-only fans would stick around for this part of the story and change of perspective would be less jarring for them. And it won't turn into repeat of manga's readers outrage...
