[8.4/10] Oh man, the banter between Cheryl as the insane high society lady who has no sense of decorum or what middle class life is like, and Archer as the beleaguered guy trying to keep her on point and tethered ever so slightly to reality is just a delightful setup that works throughout the whole thing. The running gags in this one, from jokes about Archer’s manhood, to thinking the war/economy is based on sugar, to another use of the rimshot, were all just great.
This is Archer’s writing at its best, with the crackling back-and-forth dialogue between the episode’s two leads carrying things. Even the Weekend at Bernie’s bit really worked well as a screwball comedic detail for everything. Plus, I enjoyed the little slips away from the main story of the episode, like Cyril and Poovey having to face Len Trexler, or Krieger still planning to fix Barry/Dutch’s legs, or the exchange about the wedge salad at Dreamland.
But really, the engine that powers this thing is the wonderful, nonstop back and forth between Archer and Cheryl. They make for such a great comic pairing with her loony ignorance and his weary, disbelieving responses to it. Tons of fun here.
