I have close to no knowledge of the League of Legends game, and this is still completely enjoyable. Definitely recommend it.
Wow, that was an amazing start. The art style is stunning (I keep pausing to appreciate it), the lore setup is great, the characters intriguing, and the end is definitely gripping enough to make you want to keep tuning in. I constantly asked my brother about some small details, curious if these were established in the game since I'm not much of a MOBA player.
Also, the opening sequence is SICK!
I've got zero knowledge of League so glad that's not a requirement. Decent opening episode, solid world building without awkward exposition. Love the art style and music. Definitely interested to where it will go.
This was so beautifully done, even if you don't know the basic of runeterra lore you'll enjoy it, they really have gold in their hands, also baby jinx i wanna protect her all coast
the 2D smoke and splash effects on top of the 3D-looking everything are soo coool
Nothing special. Usual juvenile story with all the tropes.
Good start. Finally my 8 years of league misery paying off towards something!
Oh, wow, this is much better than I expected. It just sucks that I haven't played LOL in six or seven years :o I think this would be so much cooler if I'd still know the characters. I think I would've absolutely loved this show when I was still playing league. But at least it brings back nice memories :)
I do definitely remember a few characters though. Vi is of course one of them but her name got mentioned early (but I liked that to be sure). Her line "Wanna see how that ends?" was really badass <3
I didn't recognize Powder though. It took me until the line "she Jinxes every job" that I finally realized who she is (then it quickly made sense - the hair, the bombs, etc.).
I might've recognized Echo though but his name was already mentioned too soon.
I should probably remember/recognize a lot more characters but unfortunately I don't. I guess it's just too long ago for me.
I also didn't expect to like the artistic, cartoon-like art style but it looks better than expected. I find it pretty interesting tbh. Some of the effects are really good. And the soundtrack and songs are great :)
Also: I was super happy when I heard Chrisjen Avasarala's (Shohreh Aghdashloo :D) voice (her first line woke me up and I immediately remembered where I know her voice from during her second line). It's just so cool and recognizable :D I also really liked Vi's voice but I didn't recognize that it's from Hailee Steinfeld.
This was such a fantastic pilot episode, man am I really looking forward to more. I'm so intrigued by the story and world of Arcane, it seems like some time in the past there was a masisve war which destroyed the underground, leaving it barren, war-torn, and with people killing eachother. Two suvivors of this, Vi and Powder, who lost there parents to the battling, were adopted by this Vander guy, who is the head of the underground streets, and they live their days fighting, looting, and pretty much everything else they can do to survive. Vi seems like a cool character who I can't wait to learn more about, it feels like she's been forced into this leader and fighter role to survive the underground streets, with her leading a group of guys as a little crew, as they do things like heists to make money. And although she always seems like this tough cold person,, she has a sweet spot for her little sister Powder, who although seems to mess up alot whenever she's taken along for the crews missions, seems like a good person trying their best. Im also looking forward to learnign more about Powder, seems like she's a little inventor herself, with her making these (although pretty bad) smoke bombs, instead of being a fighter liker her older sister Vi. Also im interested in the Vander guy too, the underground streats leader whose respected by everyone down there, and it seems like he's got a friend in Piltover, with him being allied with one of the Enforcers, but now because of today's heist that Vi lead (which ended in a almost total failure, excpet for Powder getting some blue crystals which can explode) Vander has an ultimatum, rat out of of the underground people by tonight, or deal with a bunch of enforcers attacking the underground streets. Also, I'm looking forward to learning more about this Piltover world, this pretty advanced civilization thats a stark opposite to the underground streets, with it being full of life, money, and advanced technology, and I can't wait to see why Vander is so opposed to messing with them. Also, this Silco guy seems interesting too, it seems like he'll be the main villain of the show. Looks like that underground traitor who was following Vi and her crew is working for Silco, I assume by force, and now thanks to the traitor, Silco knows what Vi and her crrew did and I assum he'll be going after them. Also, Silco and his scientist dude made this fluid which completetly changes your physiology into becoming this powerful beastlike creature, I wonder what Silco is planning to use that for. Also, man I just gotta say, this animation and especially this art style is so unique and refreshing to see in an animation show, I love the fluid 3d animation, the camera shots, the background designs bing full of character and feeling like a real world, basically everyhting about this visuals is astounding. And man, Im enjoying the music too, it sounds so beautifl and just gets me so hyped.
this is how to start a show :fire:a great beginning to something that I think going to be special :heart::heart:r
"RIOT GAMES PRESENTS"
["Enemy" by Imagine Dragons playing]
"ARCANE LEAGUE OF LEGENDS"
Vi: "Powder, look at me. What did I tell you?"
Powder: "That... " [Exhales.] "...I'm ready."
Vi: "That's right! So?"
[Powder inhales and exhales.]
Mylo: [Groans.] "Who locks their balcony?"
Vi: "You know what, Mylo? You're right. There's a bunch of things Powder just can't do."
Mylo: "You don't have to tell me twice."
Vi: "Like, complain about everything."
Mylo: "What?"
Vi: "And brag nonstop."
Mylo: "Okay, okay, I see where this is going."
Vi: "Pick fights with the group when we need to focus."
Mylo: [Chuckling.] "Vi, I..."
Vi: "And tell strangers on the street that we got a nice haul?"
Mylo: "I, I didn't mean to—"
Vi: "Powder's my problem, okay? Your problem is never knowing when to shut up. But I'm gonna help you with that. Ready? You see this look on my face? This will always mean it's time to shut up."
Mylo: "But... I..." [Groans.]
Female Enforcer: "How about you go for a little walk, Marcus? Cool off a bit. Go."
Grayson: "If you change your mind, this will reach me. And only me."
Vi: "That's where Claggor got his foot stuck running from enforders."
Man: "You have a subject in mind?"
nice first episode. It is a nice introduction to the universe.
It's chilling at the beginning.
Dota animation is nowhere near the animation of this series, it's a letdown for me as a huge fan of Dota game, but I play both games and also familiar in each lore of the games.
Incredible animation especially the slow motion during the brawl fight of the kids.
8/10
This was a great start to a show that seems to be an amazing time. The world building was good and the characters are decent. Some moments felt a bit annoyingly cliche, but other than that it was a solid premiere.
That's a solid 9/10 from my side. Fantastic art, animation and storyline.
I have heard about the game but I have never played it so I do not know the characters' backgrounds and backstories and I am not familiar with the lore of this fantasy world, it seems to me that it should be explained to the non-player viewers a bit more. I wanted to see only a bit of an episode but stayed until the end. The animations are a real eye-candy :) The characters are likeable and I was interested in what happens to them even though I know absolutely nothing about the game. There were some more boring parts (especially when the action moved away from the pack of young thieves) but otherwise it was quite an enjoyable experience and a good way to relax. Though the first scene when the character of Vander (I think) it seems kills the girls' mother and then tries to save them and cares for them is sort of moving, I have not expected it from an animated film based on some online game.
