Apples Never Fall 2024

Okay so... This could've been something really well done, there were endings they could've cooked up that would've made all the drawn out drama and mystery work, but you can't have a show that moves slow only to end in the most obvious way possible. And in the end, no one is likable, they're a family of jerks and crybabies. It's not painful to watch, it would've made a better movie than a show though because it's too drawn out to not get any real pay off in the end.

It’s finally happening. ChatGPT writes for TV now.

The premise has promise that the writing didn’t keep. The pace was jagged in some places and cumbersome in others. The performances were mediocre. I give this limited series a 5 (meh) out of 10. [Drama]

I hate that these kinds of "mysteries" are being made now. You start with a story that - if told in chronological order - would have bored anyone to tears. You then take that story and tell it in two timelines so as to create completely unearned drama. It was pretty evident from the end of the first episodes that they were going to draw out the simple story by tossing out misdirection after poorly-executed misdirection. When you realize this fact, it was pretty easy to see how the "mystery" was going to end up. I hate this kind of storytelling because it isn't really telling a story or earning drama. Having watched Fargo just before this didn't help as that was a show that earned everything that it got.

No likeable characters, no empathic connection to anyone, feels like a lady in her advanced years personal story, turned into a drama, and she tried really hard to add drama to the story because her real, privileged life lacked any. it could have been wrapped up in 40 minutes, but was stretched out to 7 episodes that ultimately gave no pay-off for my time invested

Great cast. It wasn’t my favorite book, but I still wanted to see the on-screen adaption. I probably liked this version better than the book, but still not my favorite.

[Séries Mania '24] A mediocre family drama wrapped in a certain touch of mystery that shows its weaknesses from the beginning. Annette Bening's work is particularly notable because her character is almost always described from the point of view of her children, but the introduction of a mysterious character who ends up revealing some of the family secrets is predictable, with an outcome as absurd as that of the novel. Which ends up doubling the feeling that this supposedly intriguing character study is singularly weak.

It started well, i admit was here for Brie only. Very mediocre, ended up last episode to be a comedy, actually it had many out of there comedy moments ruining the "drama" effect. Very low level mystery, not a single wow moment.
