Overall a good second season predominantly supported by the secondary characters and villains who are much more incisive than the lead duo. The ending is a good one, quite predictable that it was something like this but still explains some things seen before (such as that in the end no one died despite their injuries). But the build-up to the ending... it was so boring and terribly long for no reason.
:heart:x8
Very nice! Season 2 started out a little different than the tone set in season 1. But, it soon evened out and became really fun again.
I loved the 2nd episode - the completely naked guy was too funny. After everyone's initial shock no one mentioned it again and he walked around proudly the whole time
The ending was interesting and unexpected but very sweet and heartfelt. The final shot even set up season 3 if Netflix doesnt cancel it first.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
SPOILER!!!!!
hahhahahahahahahahaha my first review didnt save hahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahaaha I HATE IT HEREEEEEE
basta what i can say is that this season isn't worth it. it's not as thrilling and exciting as the previous one. i think, they focused more on the psychological aspect (ex. finding out the reason why they're here) more than the game itself. also, it's a turn off for me that the game is not real but it's just on the survivors' minds.
It does change in tone from the first season, where the characters were essentially in shock and tried to figure out to survive to now not only try to survive but also get answers as to why they are here and how to get back home.
The last episode really is messing with you and I really couldn't make up my mind as to what the actual truth was pretty much up until the end.
The ending I do find interesting, mostly because it seems they actually all may have experienced this all together. Borderland is essentially purgatory, where you can still go back to life or continue on in whatever comes next. Some of the characters make it clear they seem to have some memory from the game and even Usagi seems to have an "echo of remembrance" in the end.
It is different from the first season, but that doesn't make it bad. It is too bad that this is the end, because all of the characters have really grown on me and part of me is curious as to how they would continue their life now.
idk what u think but this season is nooooot worth it :pensive::pensive::pensive: i expected a LOT given my experience in watching the previous season? this isn't as thrilling and exciting unlike the first szn. imo, this focused more on the psychological aspect (i.e. finding the reason why they're playing the game) or whatever u call it.
+ i hope it is also explained how they started to have those games in their mind while they're fighting to live in the real world (they're being treated at the hospital chuchu). and the game masters or smth, were they also victims of the explosion or what?
++ i didnt understand completely the storyline because i skip parts HAHAHAHAHAHA so yeah if some of questions are already answered in the series, therefore, i must have skipped it without knowing.
well, at least, my favorite characters are alive :D
Maybe not so strong as season one but I still liked it, it was fun to watch and made me so curious about what gonna happen next,
And now i want season 3 without waitingggggg
i did not like the first season so much, in the ending it was getting a little bit better, but the second season totally suprised me. they put it on the next level, it was so freaking awesome, i love the first season now too. great stuff, did not expect that when i started watching. i hope there will be more!
Most of the games were sick in this season, even more than in season 1 imo, but the story outside of the games was a bit uninteresting during most of the season, including when there was action (for most of the cases). The final was random, but it was ok since almost any final could fit with this story.
Sadly the second season doesn’t hold up to the first, which I really enjoyed.
Now there’s just been two or three games I found worthwhile watching, character development was somewhat present but going out the window in just a few minutes again in some cases, ridiculous scenes and a lot of wasted time. To the point I almost angrily watched, hoping for it to end.
That said, and with all the rage I had in the last episode, somehow the last 20/25 minutes or so they pulled it around again. I liked the way it ended – although parts of how they solved it I didn’t, but I was moved finally, and at the very end, petrified haha.
Wouldn’t recommend watching the entire thing, not worth the time. But watching a recap of all the episodes and then getting back in there around half way through the last episode, and you should get all out of it you need.
Why!?
What!!?
This much sucks?!
This season is one of the few shows where I can say "it was bad, but it was good." LOL, I don't know. The acting was sometimes over-the-top, as is with a lot of Japanese live actions (I guess they try to act like they're in an anime), but the CG was really good, and it was tastefully violent, but not overdone. There are a lot of plot holes and sometimes I'm left with more questions than I have answers, but the action is good enough to make up for it. Sometimes, I just had to resign to letting some things go, & not think too much about it, in order to enjoy this to the fullest. It's like real life... sometimes when you have to make split-second decisions when faced with death, you don't always choose the smartest or most rational decision.
The last episode was drawn out and I started being like "wtf" but I enjoyed the ending. This show definitely took the long way to get there though, through all the round-abouts, detours, and u-turns, but we finally got there. The ending really wrapped it all up nicely for me, how all the trials and tribulations they had to face were actually tests and obstacles they had to overcome in order to have a second shot at life. It was like a way for the universe to decide which people wanted to live the most, and who would make the most of their second chance. It really highlights the idea of how people transform into a new, better person after having faced their own mortality.
Overall, I recommend it, but if you want to enjoy it, don't take it too seriously. Also, I feel so stupid for not noticing this, but all the main characters' names reference actual Alice in Wonderland characters, but using either Japanese English or translations. There are also other easter eggs that I didn't realize until I googled them, like how some of the places that the games took place in referenced different places in the Alice in Wonderland world.
The second season goes along with what we’ve witnessed in the first, with the exact same strengths and weaknesses on a bigger scale. Although not a grandpa I might be a little too old for these shows. The first half tries to dig into the psychological impact of the death games, while the last few episodes go for a more conventional, action-packed approach. A more emotional approach comes back for the finale. There are some bombastic action sequences to spice things up, but suspension of disbelief is continuously challenged by plot armor and the same ludicrous writing you would expect from a manga adaptation. The show constantly hints at complexity, but the writers always find convenient and contrived ways out of each struggle.
This season apparently closes the main storyline and answers most of our questions. Although I liked that they kept things vague without trying to find explanations for every little thing, I have a feeling the author had no clue on how to close the story and just improvised on the go, as if he had a compelling premise in mind but never thought about a decent cause for the characters to be in that situation. The ludicrous theories that get explored in the last episode seem to be a hint at that. Then, I would have preferred for the whole thing to remain a mystery without worrying about connections to the real world anymore.
For me a mediocre second season. I had high expectations after the first one. There is more focus on depth between the characters than the games being played. What follows are a lot of scenes that just kind of rippled along for me and were therefore quite boring and took the pace out of the show. The action that was there was cool and the CGI of destroyed Tokio also looked very nice. I disliked the "it was all just a dream" ending, it made the depth they tried creating between the characters a bit bland or something…

This season started of with a lot of questionable moments and decisions but the ending made up for all of it (at least for me). I want a spin-off, where they all become friends.
