after watching the first season I decided to drop this show while I like the setting and all I don't really think this can really get above standard and I kind of know that this mystery will be one running for many seasons to come not being worth my time to watch and not be something I will be looking forward to. this may sound confusing but I can't really write it down clearly why I don't really enjoy this show.
Should of gone beyond the first season. Sometimes networks can be biased for unknown reasons and quick to move on to what seems like prettier eye candy.
I was getting into this when I got told they axed the show.
Was a good show, but I probably won't miss it.
Fox made a mistake cancelling this show it was good and the season finale mad me yurn for more. Just one more disappointment from FOX.
i agree with hrnn87. But the episode sequence is kinda messed up.
I have seen 7 episodes so far, and all the errors and stupid acting makes me question why the hell I'm still watching this show.
If you haven't yet started watching this, stay away; You'll probably end up wanting to strangle the shit out of creators. I know I want to.
This show is right up there with Terra Nova. Yeah, it sucks that much. Yet I'm compelled to see the season through, hoping they get their shit together and start acting more credible. That's at least more than I can say for Terra Nova.
After watching the pilot I'm left with mixed feelings about this show. It has premise, and who doesn't love Hurley? ;) I can sort of already tell how each episode will be like, after the remarkably standard pilot episode. I'll give it a try, hopefully it'll satisfy my hunger for something new and different.
The episode 1x08 should be "Clarence Montgomery" instead of 1x10. There is an error, check it in imdb.
It's a typical JJ Abrams show. But it's good.
As mentioned Sarah Jones is the series' weak spot...very disappointing
Too many are reviewing it as a bad show based on a pilot ep. We all k ow shows can & do get better over episodes and seasons. This show is not uniquie but still a good passtime - It is a crime of the episode with a thin overarching plot which I thing(* think would have been focused more on a S2 but ofc like all slow build decent shows it got cancelled bcos some people are too impatient and do not let a show have a learning curve or chance to improve past a pilot. I don't miss it but I do feel sad the story was not allowed a natural end.
The story of this show had a lot of potential but I feel like the writers never truly got the chance to explore it.
at first I wasn't impressed but by the end of the season I feel they didn't give it a good enough chance, could of done with a second season
This is a crime of the week, with a SciFi twist. Rather ordinary. The mystery at its heart isn't compelling enough to hold my interest. I'm going to rate it a 6 (fair) out of 10 and put it on my Revisit/2nd Chance list. [CrimeMystery SciFi]
Watched the pilot and one of the worst shows I have ever seen, bad scripts, worst acting, this by far is the worst !

Average at best. FOX were right to cancel it!!!
A mediocre show with a terribly unfulfilling ending.
I didn't see much merit in this show. The premise had me intrigue but after the first two episodes, I already lost interest. There were no likable characters that I want to root for.
omg alcatraz got stopped by fox?
Very disappointed with this show. I've nearly finished the first season and I don't understand what they were trying to accomplish. Watching them re-catch a bad guy week in and week out is not what I wanted, the mystery is what I wanted and they do nothing with it. If you're going to do a slow build up to an interesting show, at least dangle some information our way so we know what to expect. Good riddance.
Alcatraz has been canceled :/
I hope FOX make an special episode to end the TV Show as it deserves...
Until now it is a "catch the bad guy" tv show .-/
I really hope the mystery aspect is getting better - if not I am done with Alcatraz.
I've watched the first episode and it was terrible, the lead girl looks far too young to be in charge.
Poor plot and writing, not worth watching.
a lot of hype and expectations... a lot of boredom while i stood and watch. kept giving it an opportunity week after week only to see it getting worst and worst... I´m done with the show.
Not sure why there is such negativity or low ratings on this show - I enjoy it. I don't know if it is "as good as dead" as it cannot be that expensive to make and it's on Fox after all.
Show bored me out of my mind. Detective show with an uninteresting twist.
This show has to have the lamest title sequence out there. In my book do a minimal one like Breaking Bad or Lost or a quality one like Walking Dead or Warehouse 13. This crappy corny voice over by Sam Neill drives me nuts everytime i hear it.
"Alcatraz"
Status: As good as dead
Why: "Alcatraz" -- and almost every other recent J.J. Abrams TV project -- proves that slapping "from J.J. Abrams" on a show does not equal ratings success. The series debuted strong, but has been fizzling in the ratings. It's wrapping up and making way for "Bones" on Mondays.

Yeah I like it too. I mean it's not amazing but worth watching.
I'm actually enjoying this series. It's not as bad as folk are making out
The Pilot made some good promises, but following episodes didn't deliver.
Gave up after a bunch of episodes.
So now after the 3rd & 4th episode my worries came true.
It's just another 'catch the bad guy' show =/
Ok, there is a little mystery with the keys, but that's no bang to me.
I'm not sure if I spend more time with it...
One more thing: If you know that the inmates are returning after years (in their cells), why wouldn't you invest in cameras, special guards or at least lock the cells???
Hello JJ, somebody at home?
But of course it's more fun to hunt them down, after they killed people ;D
hahah "who is this?"
"Oh its the famous comic book writer"
i guess that was a spoof on Castle hahah
@nizarghribi Sam Neil is 65 years old, why is it unrealistic that his character would be 67?
I've just watched the first episode and I noticed a lot of incoherence in the plot and timing..
For instance, Emerson Hauser should be at least 67 years old !!
I love JJ Abrams & this show looks very promising.
But I'm afraid that the mystery will be gone after episode 3 & it will be just another crime-solving tv show (like "Person of Interest").
Please don't we already have enough of that!
About Sarah Jones, I agree with you guys - Claire Danes (Homeland) would have rocked this thing! As well as Jorge Garcia, he wasn't as good as I know him. But it could be worse & maybe they just have to get warm.
We'll see :)
PS: Michael Giacchino is King ;)
#BadRobot
Still i'm gonna give it a change... 4-5 episodes I think will be enough to decide is it worth watching...
I hope the rest of the cast compensate for Sarah Jones. And of course is Abrams's work!
Lost with a new name!
OMG Sarah jones is terrible in the main role! Such a strong cast and she is the odd one!
Don't they have more beautiful and talented actresses in America?
So far so good, but a little bit vague still :).
Really excited about this one!
