She told Derek something along the lines that he was too close to his agents and the office would be better off with a boss that isn't/looks at things objectively. In short, her. And she cared enough once finding out that Alice was the one who killed Dr. Semo Oduwale to somehow get to where she was in time to kill her before she had the chance to leave after Emily decided to let her leave. I think there's more to that and her. That's probably something the writers added in to focus on in the third season if and once it gets renewed for one.
