Buck's problem is that he constantly worries he's a burden and that he's not needed (or wanted), so he goes big, larger-than-life personality, and does too much to "earn his keep". It makes him seem arrogant and annoying (and he can be annoying), but what looks like arrogance is actually insecurity. Which is why this episode is a success - Buck is reminded that his life DOES matter, he does have positive impact on the people around him. Right down to the shower of get-well gifts that greet him at the apartment... he is wanted and he wants to be there to be a part of that big family he now has.
As for Chimney and his father, gaaaaaah, love it! That note about pride and stubbornness making both father and son not reach out to each other in the past, that is so SO accurate and recognisable. It is that much more powerful when they gently try to connect and make room for each other.
I'm the biggest sucker for family bonding themes, 9-1-1 and its sister show have been consistent in that area.
9/10 - for the "lightning and the thunder" and a life saved. The music set the mood.
I've got some mixed feelings about this one. The first half of the episode seems to meander some, almost making it feel like they're just killing time. However, the second half is so startlingly stirring and snappy, and I was really surprised. Most of the main cast gets to show off a different side of their acting skill, which was nice to see, and Peter Krause's acting especially stands out here, and in a good way. This feels like one of those "Begins" episodes that 9-1-1 used to have, but instead of showing where the main character started, it's showing how the main character got to where he is today.
I was beginning to somewhat like Buck again, but that went out the window in this episode. Much of this episode and Buck's dream was "in his head". What made me hate it so much is how he seems to see that he is the center of everyone's universe. he hasn't changed. He's still the selfish man he was since the show started. If he never became a fire fighter, people's lives would not have fallen apart like he imagined. Things would have turned out differently, but dang.....
Fun and different episode but I enjoyed it.
Okay so ... The whole episode was useless ... And the "resolution" ... so boring
What’s with this emotional ass season :sob:
I thought we were gonna know the story behind the name Chimney
I wish the lightning did its job and finished the most annoying character in this show.
I always hate these dreaming/coma episodes no matter what show it is. They shit me and are a waste of time

This was such a boring episode, I couldn't even finish it. It seemed like this was just filler because they didn't have good scripts to go to take them to the end of the season.
