Beautiful movie to watch , i'd say one of the best animated films of the decade , magical and wonderful
The animation style was gorgeous , easily recommended.
Gorgeous style and powerful story. Highly recommended.
I wanna get bitten by a wolf! :hearts:
Love that aurora song!
[Apple TV +] Overwhelming animated film that's full of brilliant ideas, beautiful designs and old-school animation. This story of growth (perhaps also coming out), confronts freedom with oppression, religion with paganism. The dark, squared village faces the colorful, infinite forest. The own identity (the wolf) that must be found and, above all, accepted, is a theme that respects the intelligence of the viewers.
Such a wonderful story and art!
Just in case you need to know before watching: Does any animal die in this film? Answer: No
Beautiful animation. Great storytelling (if you overlook the undercurrent of animism conquering Christianity, or more broadly, the old Irish gods casting out the God of the conquering British.) Fun and fantasy all wrapped up within exquisite artistry. I give this film a 9 (superb) out of 10. [Animated Folktale]
Cartoon Saloon did it again. Gogreous story and even more perfect animation. The lines, the colors, the music. It all fits perfectly to turn this into the best animation movie of the year. Seen in trilogy with their other two movies about Irisih history/folklore might make it even better 10/10 all the way.
Easily Cartoon Saloon’s most well defined artistic statement so far. I’ve praised the visual style and sound with all of their previous releases, however they still manage to take it to the next level here. It looks amazing; the imperfect drawing style, warm colour palette and compositional choices are all very distinct. I especially love the establishing shots of the medieval village and the psychedelic effects used during the forest sequences. However, for a while I was a little worried that the story wasn’t going to match the amazing production. The first act consists a lot of familiar tropes. It’s a predictable story with the types of characters you’ve seen before. I kinda had the film figured out in my head, but after an incredible sequence involving the song Running with the Wolves it actually starts to subvert some of your expectations. Moreover, even if it decides to go for a cliché beat, it’ll present that in a way that feels very specific to the style of this film. All in all, I’d consider this to be one of the better animated films I’ve seen in a while.
7.5/10
Great visual art but the story and related emotions are nowhere close to "Song of the Sea".
This reminded me of a classic Disney movie of the 40's. Clean, wholesome, entertaining, fun, whimsical, magical, moral etc. etc. etc.
On so many levels this is such a good film, but for me the best and most relevant part is there was nothing WOKE about it. Felt like I was transported back to a time when movies and tv were for entertaining, not pushing an agenda.
Maybe there's hope after all.
no cause when did cartoon saloon open up my brain to find the perfect combination of things to put in a movie? i would sue for breach of privacy, but it’s so pretty
The best example of "Every Frame a Painting". This movie is beautiful and it's on a level of its own.
As for story and characters: a messy and not so interesting beginning, a phenomenal mid portion (mostly thanks to Mebh) and a not great (imo) but satisfying conclusion.
Need more!
Wolfwalkers is a bright ink transfusion that fills you with life.
A gorgeous animated feature with a heart as big as the countryside and as pure as the Irish forests, Wolfwalkers has a story for the kids, poetry for the adults, and magic enough for everyone.
And it wasn't even a musical!
Wonderful story with great animation and a brilliant soundtrack. Put it on for my 2 girls and I ended up glued to it as much as them. Big thumbs up :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Beautiful music, animation and story. One of the best films I've ever seen.
Wonderful story and animation. I liked it a lot.
A wonderful movie. The animation was the best part, it made the movie seem like a old fairy tale.
Beautiful hand-drawn animations, British and Irish accents, a story of two young girls' friendship with a dash of folklore and magic. What's not to like?
Wolflwalkers tells a story of a young wannabe hunter willing to take on her father's occupation as passion to eradicate the wolves from the jungle. But little does she know that the tales of people who can take a wolf form by night are true and she is going to cross paths with one such girl.
Young kids have an amazing ability to correct their worldview in light of new evidence and compassion. God knows by what time we lose that ability and become rigid adults. With the same passion as she wanted to hunt the wolves, she wants to save them later and that transformation of her character is a journey worth watching.
It is a story of Robyn, who updates her worldview, but that is true about Mebh too. The younger, and also more feral among to two, Mebh takes time to trust Robyn, but even then her affinity towards her pack is beyond everything else.
The story comes from Irish folklore and the voice actors keep the story rooted in the soil. This is actually a third and final installment of Irish folklore stories by director Tomm Moore. Moore's previous films include The Secret of Kells (2009) and Song of the Sea (2014). I will check out the other two some time.
The hand-drawn animations reminded me of Spirited Away (2001), a Studio Ghibli classic, and even the childhood classics like Samurai Jack. It is different from a Hollywood animations and brings in a mood well suited for a children's art book.
Recommended.
incredible art and a beautiful story. enthralling from opening to the end scene.
Okay... The beginning is a pain in the butt to endure (in my opinion) and the main character is a little hard to like... I started hating her and and ended up being at maximum feeling neutral towards her even on the very end... But... Everything else is great...
The art: There's nothing to talk about... Is marvelous...
The story: Nice, cool, very good... And the end is very nice too...
For now at least, is my favorite movie!
It's so sad that Cartoon Saloon animated movies keep losing the Oscar to mediocre 3D animation movies
Amazing animation and story.
Some scary parts.
Where the Wild Wolves Run.
This was excellent. Beautifully animated, calming, and exciting. Highly recommended.
Gorgeous animation and nice storytelling!
So the story isn't original, there's no surprises what happens.....
it's a better made 'Brother bear' or 'Brave'
It is however, absolutely beautiful. Gorgeously designed, the beauty of the magical parts are like the book ends of the original 'Watership Down'.
Importantly - the kids loved it, had it on again the next morning.
Very original a beautiful animation.
