Wild Target 2010

I’m shocked, I don’t remember this one coming out in 2010 unless I’ve seen it and can’t remember but I doubt it because it’s definitely one to remember because it was definitely a great hit with plenty good humour and action. I was surprised with the cast and all work well together.

If Emily Blunt asked you to protect her, you don't say no, you say yes and do everything in your power to protect her even without her paying you. Also please, no more ugly wig

Charming and quirky but batshit crazy.

I'd like to see the original French film to work out quite how much was injected by the always-delightful Bill Nighy, the always-delightful Emily Blunt and the instantly-forgettable Rupert Grint.

A cracking supporting cast, a decent plot, a zippy direction. Yet it goes off the tracks for a solid 20 minutes before the ending - and it feels longer than its 95 kins runtime.

7/10

I think you need to be in a special kind of mood for this. It was a bloody weird movie, though it was not the worst.
Martin Freeman was awesome though. Naturally.

A magnificent movie. It never fails to make me laugh out loud while watching. The cast are absolutely excellent, and the script is hilarious.

Nighy is perfect as the aged but perfectionist hitman. Blunt absolutely nails the chaotic energy of the thief and Grint just manages to be so delightfully adorable. And as ever, Everett delivers his typically on form manner.

I don't think that I will ever get tired of rewatching this again and again.

A hit man (Bill Nighy) befriends his target (Emily Blunt), and they develop an unlikely relationship.

This is basically your run of the mill mid-budget British comedy. You get a few big names, some decent gags and ultimately nothing to write home about. The plot takes some unusual twists and turns as it struggles to keep us interested, and as is so often the case it just gets too stupid.

That said if you’re just after a breezy, light hearted black comedy then Wild Target fits the bill, and I’m surprised it didn’t gain more traction when it came out. Perhaps it’s because it just leaves you feeling a bit flat as the credits roll.

It’s a shame, because there are some good jokes and genuinely interesting characters. The way Blunt and Nighy clash is nothing new, but it’s still fun to watch.

Worth a look if you’re scrabbling around for even half-decent comedies.
