I liked this more than I thought I would. I hadn't watched it because I'm not a huge comedy genre person and don't necessarily enjoy Tina Fey as a comedienne but this isn't a comedy. There's not a lot funny in this movie. I guess there are comedic moments as there are in life but this is not a comedy. Gives me new respect for Tina Fey. I won't purposely avoid her next film.
The first half really feels like Liz Lemon having a career change.
It starts as a mess. The character is a confused middle aged woman in a personal crisis who has no idea of what she's doing and therefore, until she figures it out, we just get to watch her stumbling along. Eventually though, Kim snaps out of it, and finds her place and passion. From then on, the movie improves, and becomes totally worth watching. As stated by others, this isn't a comedy, but it isn't a typical war drama either. I'm not entirely sure I like the light-hearted tone given to the story, but there were some excellent sensitive moments. and the ending was quite satisfying.
ok first of all don't get confused by Tina Fey and the trailer, this is not a comedy. Its a war drama with some light moments. The first part is mediocre but the last part was pretty decent

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is a film caught in an identity crisis. It’s smart, funny, dramatic, has an all star-cast and yet gets caught in that no-man’s land so many ambitious mid-budget projects struggle with. It’s part character comedy, part romance, part commentary on journalism and yet fails to really capitalize on any of these elements.
Instead we get a painfully predictable story that just goes through the paces without even trying to deviate from the Hollywood template.
It’s not hard to see what the original idea was, but sadly the finished product is bland and forgettable.

The title obviously stands for WTF, "what the Fuck" I was expecting more, more action.
It was an okay watch with some comedy. Should have been far better considering the cast. :flushed:
Tina Fey in a not-comedy, marketed as a comedy. Odd tactic, but it’s still quite good. The cast is top tier, and tone hits a nice spot. Not my favorite thing by any of the actors, but a worthwhile addition to all of their catalogs.

Skurril thing between love story and trying to deliver a real message about war reporting. Liked Freemans perfomance alot tho. Nonethenless i was pretty good entertained overall.
This Was Actually A Pretty Good Flick
There is a good movie in here somewhere, its just that at times it is quite messy and disjointed. The constant use of songs on the soundtrack is quite distracting and at times inappropriate. Character development is quite slow and it takes a while to get a take on Fey's character. However, despite my negativity the film isn't bad, just a little clumsy.

Must better than I thought it was going to be. Kept me entertained with the war drama and the splash of happy moments thrown in.
What a great movie. Loved it! If it wasn't Tina Fey on that cover I probably wouldn't search this out. But I'm really really glad I did. Also a lot of familiar faces in here...including Sterling K Brown, aka Johnnie Cochran on the FX OJ show! He's good but only in it for a few min.
managed to stay a light drama despite the war stories thanks to Tina Fey and Martin Freeman
This was a surprisingly and refreshing new kind of role for Tina and it was a success..This movie is actually quite good, with its humor, and serious moments all blended into one. And it wasnt all "kill kill kill"... Tina needs to explore this side of her ability more. And Martin Freeman was a complete HOOT in this film..

Pretty good movie. It's mainly a drama with comedy sprinkled throughout. Worth a watch.
