Thanks to all those Indians who signed the petition to bring this movie to India. Animation and story both were great.
Climax was again impressive and a bit unsatisfactory (Not as much as your name.). Radwimps again nailed it with there beautiful songs.
Dialogues like "I like you more than any blue sky" were very heart warming and enthusiastic.
I hope to see more anime in Indian theaters, I'll definitely sign any petition for it.
PS: It was really good to see Mitsuha and Taki from your name. in this movie.
A few things I was after this movie:
- impressed by the animations: They really burned cash with this one.
- confused by Japanese folklore: They didn't explain a lot of the mystical stuff. Maybe it was clearer for Japanese?
- emotionally moved by the story: The basics are pretty run of the mill - coming of age mixed with a little bit of romance. But the deliverance is really packing a punch.
- a little unsatisfied at the end: Not every question was answered, but I guess it's a slice of life.
And here's an interesting question to ponder about:
Hodaka is the rain child mentioned by the old lady right during the interview for the occult magazine. It is said that it's raining in Tokyo since he came there. And we learn that the sun light seems to run away from him.
Therefore he may have started the whole chaotic weather by going to Tokyo, and sort of pushed Hina into her role as sun child in more than one way. The whole drama is practically his fault all along, not only because he proposed the job to her.
Or maybe he was meant to be her opposite and go to Tokyo. She became the sun child before him and therefore brought imbalance to the mystical equilibrium that is the Japanese folklore's weather system.
I'm confused by the possibilities and feel like I'm just throwing theories out there  What do you think?
Watch it for the animation. But if you've ever seen a Shinkai film before, you knew that.
I'm guilty of allowing major holes in my familiarity with Makoto Shinkai's films. I've seen She and Her Cat, Your Name., The Garden of Words, and 5 Centimeters Per Second—which leaves the majority of his work unseen. However, those cover enough of a time range that I can see Shinkai both has and hasn't always made movies like this. (I know: "What does that mean?!" Keep reading.)
By that, I mean that he's basically always had a certain focus on three things: Stunning visuals, beautiful music, and teenage romance. If I was allowed one and only one critique of Weathering With You, it would be the awful English title translation that the film feels a little too much like Your Name. On the most basic, structural level, it goes through a very similar "false resolution" before getting into the true conflict. Both stories ultimately hinge on old legends made manifest, though in different ways. And if we get into the details a bit more, things like Taki and Hodaka both chasing after their respective love interests through physically demanding journeys across the landscape stand out.
Actually, I have to modify some of that. Weathering With You is not "too much like Your Name." as much as it is "not enough like Your Name. where it counts". The writing in this latest release feels insufficiently edited. It doesn't flow quite as well.
None of this is to say that the movie isn't worth seeing! It very much is. Just do your best not to get lost, and pay attention, because lots of things are only ever mentioned (or shown) once and you'll miss them if you so much as blink at the wrong time.
Such details, great visuals! There are some great characters too. But the plot? Nothing to write home about.
animations were made beautifully enjoyed watching it but the story isn't as good as "your name"
Weathering with You is like kiddie breakfast cereal: brightly colored and overly sweet but with no real nutritional value. Those of you who like teenage melodrama romance animé, however, will eat this one up!
It's really a 10/10 for the animation. The story is good although quite linear imo. As others already said some aspects may not be very clear, i don't know if it's intentional or if it's just because i am not familiar with the folklore. In any case is definitely worth watching!
Lol i like it so much!
Nice! Makoto Shinkai's works are truly captivating, they make people believe in love and yearn for it! All three films are amazing! Compared to "Your Name" and "Journey of Suneohair," the development of the male-female relationships in "Weathering with You" is handled more reasonably and delicately. The emotions in "Your Name" and "Journey of Suneohair" seem inexplicable to me, the love that arises from such brief encounters feels strange. Overall, the trilogy is fantastic! Fully support!
i'm really stoked for this one
Film with all the hallmarks of Makoto Shinkai, that is, great animation, urban fantasy and a romantic touch. If you like his other films, it's worth your attention.
Really great movie. I'd watch it again if I didn't have a huge backlog of things to watch

Don't ever watch movie like this in less than 1080 Quality!
perfect drawing
Amazingly beautiful and detailed in 4k (uhd blu-ray)! Well worth the disc price to enjoy the highest quality anime visuals I've ever seen (this is the first 4k movie I've seen and was amazed at how detailed an anime could look. They put a ton of time into the details in this movie). You can even see what looks like simulated paper textures in some scenes, like when you're looking at a traditional painting. The HDR also looks really nice in some later scenes especially. It's so good to have a perfect visual experience without any compression artifacts or buffering or temporary blurriness.
So beautiful I missed the plot of the movie.
I liked the visuals very much (was even amazed by some shots) and the score was great. But it seemed like the plot was just there to make a justification for a good visual showcase.
Don't expect a plot heavy story.
Felt like Your Name has left more of an impression in me.
Pretty good film, can see the similarities between this and Your Name but it was a bit harder to take this one seriously? (idk I feel like some of the Japanese folklore stuff wasn't really easy to understand unless you are Japanese) But the setting and art and everything else was so gorgeous it definitely made up for it. Can't wait to see Suzume in cinemas tomorrow :)
This movie was my favorite for some time. I am absolutely in love with the animation style. The storyline was sometimes a bit questionable; however, the film was well-executed and very emotionally touching. Makoto Shinkai never disappoints.
I watched this in the cinema, it was crazy.
For more worse than the what's your name
A fantastic movie, completely addictive
This movie kind a rollercoaster of emotions. I think this is one of the best emotional movie.
nice good morning baby girl
One pf the best animr movie to watch
What a gem this movie is! Fantastic animation, great support characters and a really enthralling story. A must-see of the genre and not only! Definitely recommended!
In some wonderful Tokyo settings, a climate change myth and a beautiful teenage love. Wonderful film.
It's a movie with an amazing story, in all parts of the world there is some fantastic story, told by old people.
The animation impressed me, the music made me feel what the film tries to show.
I have unanswered questions, but I think it's ok, there are things in the world that nobody knows ... and that makes it mystical.
I recommend to watch "Your Name" before.
an absolute masterpiece. one level above Your name.
stock cant watch huhuh

What a lovely movie from the start to the very end. It had all the feel of an anime and there were places where I had tears in my eyes. A lovely piece of work.

The story was good, the ML was not one of my favorite but was good. Their relationship is good and the soundtrack too.
