For a True story I was expecting it to be a lot funnier based on the trailer. Both Teller & Hill were great together but I wanted it to be funnier.
Probably Todd Phillips best movie next to the Hangover. Since War Dogs shows there's some talent there. Talent that was especially wasted on unnecessary Hangover sequels.
"I came here today prepared to pay you $200k, now I'm not even gonna pay for breakfast."
Apart from the fact that their Albanian is actually Romanian, it was quite an entertaining movie.
A thoroughly entertaining and well-directed film, with an engaging screenplay, a satisfying story and great performances, although the pacing was a bit off at times.
War Dogs is basically "The Wolf of Wall Street", "Lord of War" and a little dose of "American Hustle", but...well, you know, not very good. It wants to be like those movies but fails.
To be honest, I don't know what I was expecting with this one since the trailers didn't look that good to me.
★ - One star for Miles Teller and Jonah Hill for at least trying.
★ - Another star for the film not boring me.
I really enjoyed this one. Never a dull moment.
Jonah Hill proves his acting capability in this film! He's an actor go watch it. Ana de Armas is just a plus.
8 instead of 7; because i just knew that was based on a true story!
It was really amusing, funny only in the first hour, but also dramatic which i did not expect! The plot was good, and the cinematography was also good.
As Todd Phillips is the one who made The Hangover, u can see his potential in making a movie like this.
For me as an Arabian, the act in Iraq & Jordan was funny if it was meant to be sarcastic, but if they meant in the first place to be bullying the culture, then it's a bit offending, but i don't think this was the case.
About the acting, I don't know what's my problem with him, but i just don't like Miles Teller's acting! well he was okay in this one, but still i was not convinced, and his fight scenes with Ana de Armas was making me wanna laugh because it was just bad acting, especially from her, i don't like her, maybe i don't even consider her as an actress.
Anyway, Miles was really great in Whiplash. Maybe it was the only movie he really acted properly in it.
For Bradley Cooper, cool as always my friend, he just steals the charisma in only few scenes like he always does in all movies.
And i saved the best for last, JONAH HILL! I love him so much, he is so flexible actor, can do literally anything! In TWOWS & Moneyball & now this, he was so great and made an impact on his character.
Finally, I guess the movie and this story send a deep message, about greed and trust & how are they connected, we have just to accept what we have.
Super Funny Yet Dramatic Also. Great Movie.
Great movie ...absolutely captivating from beginning until the end.
Great movie ! Captivating and fun, I recommend.
Awesome movie ! Had loads of fun watching it ! Great acting by Jonah Hill as always...
A very good movie! Not to cheesy and with believable people and their situations.
Good movie, good acting, good set. Actually reminded me a loot to a 'Wolf of the Wall street'. Don't know if it's after a true story, but it has a lot of factors that may actually be based on a true story.
amazing movie, it really put Miles and Jonah in serious eyes. enjoyed it.
Great, great and great. Movie got me at the beginning till it's very end. This one is actually good surprise in 2016 for me.
Way better than other movies with Jonah Hill and the other dude
This movie will Deja-Vu you straight to The Wolf of Wall Street. You'll get the same feeling of money, power, drugs and recklessness, and a fine amount of Jonah Hill. Difference is that here Jonah takes the lead, instead of being Leo's co-pilot.
So take a bowl full of "The Wolf", add a cup of "Lord of War" and just a curt of Hangover's Bradly Cooper, and you'll get a nice and entertaining movie. It won't make you think so much like in Wolf or War, but it tastes good enough. Though don't expect the gourmet of Martin Scorsese.
But surely you will lick your spoon thanks to Ana de Armas.
I recommend this one if you liked said movies, and you have a free night. an even 7.5/10 .
not enough ana de armas
Decent movie. Watch "Lord of War" instead.
Okay this is normally the type of movie I love (The Big Short/Wolf of Wall Street/Moneyball but war) but it just fell flat for me. Jonah Hill and Miles Teller were just...not right for the roles. Definitely want to learn more about the story though.
Good movie, Jonah Hill with a good performance.
Jonah Really Surprised Me with this flick.
A true story well portrayed. Not for a second you will feel bored. And man, that IBM scene is fucking gold.
Inspiring, funny, action and great acting! Loved this movie!!
Great performances from Hill and Teller in this is interesting, if familiar true story.
Mediocrity...siiiigghhhh...with a side order of ppphhhffrrrrttt
Both motivational and cautionary tale of how the world really works. Couldn't stop thinking of the Kenyan government's messed up 'tender' system.
I consider War Dogs to be one of the most underrated movies so far this year and its one of the better films from director Todd Phillips in recent memory. Jonah Hill gives one of the better performances we've seen this year and Miles Teller plays a solid protagonist. The concept for War Dogs is so interesting that it will probably inspire you to learn more about this true story. It was marketed as a comedy and there are a few laughs in here but don't expect to be rolling on the floor.
Its similar to "Lord of War (2005)" if you liked that film give this a try see if you like it, its worth a watch :)
Good movie, interesting plot that wins you from the beginning of the movie with no boring parts. Great chemistry between them and it has a pretty solid soundtrack
David is done with massaging people to make a living, so as soon as his old friend Efraim is back in town and offers him a job he can't deny. The only thing he doesn't know is what he is in for and what Efraim is actually up to.
This was so much better than I expected it to be. I really enjoyed it and it felt like the movie was finished before it even started. It was truly great. The build up of the movie was really cool, and I loved the "chapters" they made by using quotes. I think it's cool that they make a true story into this kind of movie. It was funny, badass, action-filled, I just loved it.
Speaking of loving things, wasn't Jonah Hill just the greatest you've ever seen him? (maybe exaggerating a little bit there but still) I mean, did you hear his "laugh", o my and the spray tan with the slick back hair with those darn matching training outfits. He made a great characters. I could rave on about how much I loved him in War Dogs, seriously. Miles Teller was his perfect self again as well. For me, he just can't do anything wrong. I also think he must be a pretty great boyfriend, cuz he is just the sweetest with the girls in almost every movie he does. Maybe it's just me but, I don't think so. I love Miles. To be honest with you, I think all the actors did great. Ana de Armas as Iz was the only one I didn't really bonded with, but still.
