Douze Mille (Twelve Thousand) is like a toothless pitbull: not as dangerous as it looks and it ends up chasing its own tail and trying to hump your leg while drooling on your jeans.
What could have been an edgy look at financial and romantic instability dissolves into a film where the stakes turn out to be so low we wonder why we cared so much to begin with. Too bad, because there is a lot here to like (nice acting, interesting locations and a strong plot), but overall Twelve Thousand feels like a promise that isn't kept.
