This was very entertaining, a better "Scream" movie with very funny and dark humour and as splatter as a comedy can give. The girls were fantastic on their roles. Many references and big hits to cliches.
A enjoyed thorough.
While Tragedy Girls was funny at times it failed to really connect the opening act to the rest of the story for which I was waiting on... Could also have done without the obligatory #teenagedrama BS.
Would've liked to see some themes explored more, felt a bit male-gazey for somethings centered on two teenage girls. Kind of felt like a Jennifer's Body type knock off but without understanding what makes that movie genius.
Has a cool aesthetic but no real substance. Too slow paced and boring to be good campy, slasher fun, but not totally bad either. Is good for a background movie.
This is one of those films where the premise was so great, that when it came to delivery, it didn't necessarily get all the way there. A dark comedy combining the teen comedy genre with a slasher flick seems like a great idea and when it works, it works well. But the motives of the main characters are never really fleshed out as sometimes it seems they are doing it for social media followers and sometimes for the love of the game, so to speak.
There was an almost absurdist humor that was very enjoyable when they actually decided to go that route (i.e. Josh Hutcherson and Craig Robinson's characters), but you can tell the writers got a bit scared that it would alienate the audience, and for 88% of the movie, we get a pretty straightforward slasher flick with humor peppered in here and there. And they were WAY too stingy with the pepper. The biggest problem is that, if you're not going to lay on the comedy as much, you should probably care a little bit more about logic, which it doesn't seem anyone really cared about because I guess forensics isn't a thing? Not to mention, there is a major subplot that is kinda just thrown away at the end with barely an explanation.
Don't get me wrong, this movie was a solid 7/10, but I was expecting to love this way more than I actually did. They relied way too heavily on the teen drama aspect and forgot they were making a dark comedy at points. At some points I thought I was watching a Disney Channel Original Movie as the story got more and more predictable towards the 3rd Act. All in all, this movie works because of the dedication of Hildebrand and Shipp who both make this movie, the fun story and the off-the-wall humor, when you do actually get it.
Great movie. Well acted. Couldn't keep my eyes off till the movie lasted.
so fucked up, i love it! please make another one.
Pretty good flick. Some new twists on an old horror theme. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great cast!!

The girls' surnames are a tribute to the directors of Friday the 13th (Cunningham) and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (Hooper), out other quotes and references to current and 70's, 80's and 90's horror movies.

I really enjoyed this. Big improvement over Patchwork for the director Tyler MacIntyre. Fun humour and characters. Lots of references to other horror movies.
