Simple comedy, but enjoyable. As always the start is the best part of this romcom, until the inevitable change in the main protaginist played by David Spade when he comes to the conclusion that he is into the weird character of Lauren Lapkus. Since this 'romantic' part of the movie is the same as in a thousand others it's irrelavant and the movie draws its best parts from the hilarious scenes of Lapkus character. 5/10
It's not a good movie but I did enjoy it.
Very generic and corny. Nothing surprising here, yet another movie with an older comedian as the romantic lead (this time David Spade is in a ridiculous wig) but all the female characters are young, hot and skinny.
I just can’t understand why the movie goes out of its way way to make the wrong Missy so repugnant. She was too over the top for me to take the romance seriously, or find the humor in her actions. And while she was extremely annoying, David Spade spends the whole movie going, "aw, geez".
I wasn't expecting too much from this film - David Spade hasn't had a decent movie in the past 10 years, but this one is GREAT!
Laren Lapkus steals this movie, she's the date from hell at the beginning and you really don't want to see her again... but you do and she's perfect for the part.
I read some of the comments about this and don't understand why people are so hateful of this movie. It's funny from beginning to end with some really good LOL scenes. It's not a chick-flick it's a guys version of one, even my wife laughed a lot throughout.
Definitely recommend - 9/10
If you need a short summery about this movie, here: trash.
Utterly unfunny, stop wasting money on crap like this Netflix. They all need a brick in the face.
There are a few funny moments, mainly from the wonderful Lapkus, but lazy writing undermines what could have been a better movie.
C'mon it's really funny! (mainly thanks to performance of Lauren Lapkus). It's just a no brainer comedy, who so serious ???
Lightweight comedy that has giggles throughout and a couple of belly laughs.
Solid.
6.5/10
Please Loren Lapkus never act again in any film, hated your role and hated you with all my heart one of the worst movie I've ever seen
Lauren Lapkus saved this movie, loved her!
David Spade is given a great character to work off of, maybe the best since teaming with Farley for Tommy Boy. This is the best "Sandlerverse" movie since he hooked up with Netflix. Funny, yet works as a romantic comedy. Genuinely funny with some good laughs, even if some of Lauren Lapkus's antics are a tad cringeworthy. 8/10
I didn't hate it. Lauren Lapkus made it somewhat bearable. very predictable.
Deary me. It's a miracle I survived until the end.
'The Wrong Missy' is one of the worst films I have ever seen. I'm usually a glass-half-full type of guy, I always attempt to find the good sides to a film first before identifying the worse parts. With this, there is simply nothing to praise.
Lauren Lapkus is horrifically annoying as Melissa, I have never been so cringed out and/or irritated when watching a character. I do have one solace of minor praise for Lapkus herself though, as she really does commit to the role - arguably too much so. There are moments late on when I see potential for her/Melissa if the script et al. was better.
It's the filmmakers who probably deserve most of the hate for this, though the cast should still be doing more - David Spade in particular. He is very poor in the lead role as Tim, I never felt he was giving 100% here - I'm positive he can do so much more. Elsewhere, not even Sarah Chalke of 'Scrubs' or Geoff Pierson of 'Dexter' could save this. Nick Swardson (Nate) is the only semi-bearable person onscreen, while there's at least a notable celebrity cameo at one point.
Terrible premise with awful dialogue, which relies almost entirely on sex/toilet humour, all alongside some dreadful acting and extremely unfunny comedy. As always with my reviews it is nothing personal, but this is a severely unpleasant film.
Surprisingly funny. Lauren Lapkus plays the hilarious girl fantastic.
Typical hollywood dross, essentially the same plot as every other "romantic comedy".
I will rate this movie Dog Shit/10
Well, at least Rob Schneider was funny.
When David Spade is talking serious, if you close your eyes a little you can hear Edward Norton!
I don't understand how the protagonist fell in love with the other missy, she almost killed him with the shark scene... and he just forget about it, that's a toxic relationship for me...
Its a ok movie if you don't want anything special and some cheap comedy
