Skip it; the movie was a pointless waist of time.
Some interesting sci-fi ideas, but no coherent story to string them together. I spent much of the film waiting for answers to questions that just kept piling up, and was left ultimately frustrated and baffled by an ending that provides no sense of closure.
All I can think here is "Wasted potential". The movie was certainly well shot but it doesn't go anywhere, has an unimpressive twist and ends silly. It could easily double as a commercial for sports shoes which sounds rather dismissive but give me at least something here!
saaaaaaaaauce! ! ! ! !
Too pretentious for such an average storyline, a typical case of trying too hard.
It looks like they had too many ideas, but not the guts to choose. None of them was worked out well, so we end up with a messy movie that tries to be cool and clever while it is neither.
Really didn't hold my interest, confusing and incoherent, terrible ending, just avoid it
Honestly I love weird movies so this one was kinda my cup of tea. At least at the beginning. But eventually it all felt like a wasted potential. It almost hurts how good it could be. Instead it looked like a artsy farsty exhibition without any direction.
This was an ok movie, a bit slow in the middle. Kept me looking all the way through,so worth seeing.
This is an unusually cool movie. I usually take issue with films that leave too many questions unanswered but that's not an issue I have with 'The Signal' since the questions are presented in an entirely creative and captivating way. The answers are there for some of these questions - you just need to dig deep and pause on "blink and you'll miss it" type frames - while there are satisfying theories to other questions that still fit the internal logic of this film's universe. Very fun to think about and dig through the mysteries here. The cinematography is also better than most big budget spectacles and the way "powers" are portrayed are far more grounded in realism. It doesn't feel like a greenscreen is wrapped around everything and doing most of the work (e.g. Marvel / DC movies).
What a weird, incoherent movie that was. Starts off great with great characters and a sense of mystery, devolves into a pseudo-Lynchian laboratory affair, and ends with a poor man's X-Men ripoff. Pacing is all over the place, story makes no sense, the twists (Area 51 and NOMAD/Damon) were dumb as hell.
Ending was kind of cool but felt out of a different movie altogether.
This is my kind of movie and I loved it! Everything gets revealed slowly and the pace of mystery keeps up until the end. Espically at the end I was as: Whaaaaaaaat?!!!
If you like just simple scifi entertainment, this is the movie for you ;-))
The beginning of this movie is rather slow and has a definite 'indie' feel to it, and that doesn't help draw you in.
After the incident which is a little too quick in my opinion, and definitely tries to create drama by not showing very much... and which fails entirely, and loses the viewer.
From that point on, everything becomes confused and unstructured. By the end of the movie you are left with so many unanswered questions that it leaves you with a slightly bitter taste in your mouth.
Ultimately, a movie that had so much potential is let down by trying to be too clever for it's own good, and it just ends up being a mess that leaves you feeling cheated.
Move starts out great, but has some quarks along the way. When the movie ended, it left me with a sense of awesomeness but also wanting more. Throughout the movie you are presented with many depictions of what's to come, but many lead you astray. In the end, the movie is a great "what if" scenario about life and if it really exists outside of our own solar system, but you are left with too many questions about the story at hand.
worst movie I have ever seen... somebody may say that I didn't understood it,but I did,and again I claim that everything, from acting to plot is poor. Stare at the wall for 90 minutes, it is better spent time than watching this "movie".
That went some really weird places in a hurry.
Beautiful photography and good visual effects but horrible and nonsense history.
Confusing, overhyped and didnt keep my attention like I hoped. Avoid this movie!
Not enough aliens in this.
I liked it. I’ve always had a thing for Olivia Cooke, and I think she did a great performance in this one. Other than that, it’s not the most mind blowing movie, but it’s definitely good and entertaining. It’s definitely not worth skipping and passing up.
The Signal didn't quite hit the mark for my taste in sci-fi films. While the premise had potential for intrigue and suspense, I found myself struggling to connect with the story and the characters. The pacing felt uneven, with moments of tension and intrigue followed by slower and less engaging segments. Additionally, certain plot points felt convoluted and left me with unanswered questions, hindering my overall enjoyment of the film. It's possible that others may find it more enjoyable, but for me, it fell short of delivering the kind of sci-fi experience I was hoping for.
At the end it left me more confused than it started...
Did I enjoy watching it ? yes...
would I watch a sequel? yes.
:heart:x5
What did I just watch?? I found this movie to be a bit confusing and annoying. I do however know that some folks will like this movie. For me, it was the ending - it just felt wrong somehow.
I did not see this movie when it first came out - but watched it in 2022 instead. I just remember that the trailer itself looked confusing, so I did not bother to watch it.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
Part 1 good, part 2 ufffff, part 3 what are you doing? part 4 incredible
I read a number of bad reviews on this and I clearly do not see what the fuss is about. Yes, it's a slow burn but it is also one that makes you think. I rather enjoyed the way it played out. It is rare to find a decent science fiction movie that isn't along the cookie cutter formula most take.
Started interesting, got absurd in the last third and the music at the end was annoying as fuck.
This was weird but I liked it.
I really enjoyed it... As stated... Great ending.
best ending ever. epic VFX ...
epicc! loved the VFX

The photograph is great and the pace has a lot to do as the way the story is being told, unfortunately they tried to tell too much and ended up feeling a little bit overwhelming
