Clever of them to hide how religious this movie is in the marketing. It's a loose adaption of the Book of Job, and is very preachy.
'Angel Studios' 'The Shift' adeptly blends science fiction and spiritual themes, taking viewers on a journey through the multiverse with protagonist Kevin Garner. The film introduces a mysterious Benefactor, symbolizing a spiritual adversary, as Kevin grapples with faith. Cinematically engaging and avoiding the trap of being overly preachy, the movie stands out in the Christian film genre.
Led by Kristoffer Polaha, the cast delivers strong performances, supported by Neal McDonough and Sean Astin. While the multiverse concept adds depth and intrigue, the integration of the two sub-stories feels somewhat disjointed, affecting the film's overall cohesion. Despite occasional confusion in the third act, 'The Shift' is a commendable attempt by Angel Studios to broaden its appeal within the spiritual film genre, showcasing a commitment to cinematic quality in conveying its message.
Totally misleading trailer again. So little sci-fi,so uninteresting story, so useless time without any short of background, just go for it and of course all based on religion and whatnot. Started with great promises it went downhill really fast with the faith and religion.
This could be a very good movie but they gave nothing just a bunch of pretentious dialogues and the ending never explained, apparently God did it. This was a big waste of opportunity for something good.
A sincere attempt, but for me, a miss.
let's all assume for the sake or argument that god does not exist and the bible is a work of fiction. what is the difference of a based o it and a stan lee's book then?
I came for the cast, and stayed for the story
Its been a while watching something unique
The Shift - :heart:x7
This is an interesting and imaginative interpretation of the story of the Biblical Job. This is a Christian production and one of the more interesting and well done productions I've seen. The story itself is interesting enough to hold ones attention.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
Its a good movie I recommend

Like church: weird, illogical and preachy.
My favorite part was at the end when the lead actor comes on screen, flashes a QR code and begs you to do a good deed by buying another ticket for randos.
