The mother? Nope. The crap
Take out Jennifer Lopez and place in Liam Neeson for Taken 4... Or Tom Cruise for Jack Reacher 3. The negativity stops immediately.
This was enjoyable throughout. A spiritual successor to Haywire, in my eyes. U flustered, a strong female protagonist with an emotional depth that is belittled by a perfunctory script.
Concentrate on whether you want to turn it off and you'll discard all the negativity. It runs strong and has plenty of plot to keep it ticking along. The action reminded me of the last Craig Bond.
Dont underestimate this. It's a solid watch.
7.5/10
J.Lo goes full-on motherer
Simplistic, predictable and generic assassin thriller. The mother daughter relationship/interactions is the heart of the movie but it's not enough to justify the 2h runtime. The second half was a lot better than the first. The snowy setting was nice. Generic acting. The action sequences were good (but badly filmed) and it doesn't shy away from violence. It would have benefited from a shorter runtime and a tighter, less cliché story.
Very good movie. Especially for Mother's Day. Good action and suspense. Well worth a watch :thumbsup_tone1:
An hour and 55 minutes of continuous eyerolls...
The story was so cliche and predictable, and It was way too long of a runtime for what it was offering.
I think whoever told jennifer Lopez to take a role as an "elite assassin" should be fired. Her performance was cringey at best, and she just looks so awkward and out of place in this film.
It's watchable, but only if you have 2 hours to waste and nothing better to do.
Pretty dire movie on every level that's at least 30 minutes too long. Another vanity project trying to make Jennifer Lopez look like something she most definitely is not, an actress, let alone a decent actress. The story is a mix of about 15-20 similar action / revenge movies with all the same cliches and plot idiocy. Add into the mix some terrible camera work (blurred fish eye lense shots taken from the POV of some dog wandering around?), a most annoying kid that I can't fathom why the mother is trying to protect and countless incidents where the characters consistently make the dumbest decisions rather than the sensible ones. Mum trying to bond by fast-tracking the kid to master-assasin is just laughable. The only person who's acting is worse in this is the kid who's name I can't even be bothered to look to find. Acting is terrible, script is terrible. Had there been a half-decent actor playing the lead here it might have been able to get to a 4, but with J-Lo, even the 2 is generous. The garbage soundtrack doesn't help.
It was a decent action movie. I hated the blurry edges camera though
I want to like it but so much damn stupid stuff. So first up there is the sniper attack where she has one bullet and is 3 ft from dude and can’t shoot him in the head. Then anytime after that she can magically shoot 90+ people perfectly while being shot at during explosions. I don’t think she ever misses anything. Kills the first baby daddy then just leaves, yes it is with the only effective FBI guy in the world, but then she just shows back up. Then train the bratty dumbass kid to kill but not give a fake name? So stupid plot holes! There is a lot of action but it is not really good action just a lot of it.
:heart:x7
I thought this was an enjoyable movie. It's not great, but definitely watchable. I do feel like the writers could have given the characters just a little more depth tho.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
Oh my God this was Garbage. Just pure and utter nonsense. Jayrod was not made for this part. She chubby and out of shape thinking she's bad. Reminds me of all those female Los Angeles County Sheriff Deputies all over the place.
This movie will not end. I'm trying to finish but wow. It's tough. This movie is Cliffhanger. If Cliffhanger had a mentally inept little brother.
What a stupid movie. Man I swear I thought this movie was over when she got her daughter back. But nooo this thing just keeps on going. Just horrible acting and just the same nonsense I've seen since the 70s.
I want my money back. Oh yea it was free.
Once upon a time JLo, handed over to the FBI her men, arms dealers and people. Witness protection failed, and she also has a daughter from one of them, hidden in a strange family. Time passed, the men are angry, they will take revenge. And where is she now, #sheisaMother. Manipulative action movie, bad action, Lopez doesn't work like that:recycle:.
Im not gonna say j-lo wasn't good in it. But hollywood, this concept is sooooo played out already. maybe not EXACTLY the same but dude i swear I saw this movies... peppermint, john wick, etc
People kill me with their negativity. This movie wasn't bad at all. I was into from beginning to end. Personally, it didn't feel long to me but that's just my opinion. What I want to know is who greenlit that terrible version of Maxwell's song, Woman's Work that they put on at the end of the movie?!? They should be fired!
That was a fun time. It suffers imo from the problem that many long movies suffer from. Which is to say they can't pace well so they add on another movie. At first I thought this movie was going to be a worse version of Extraction (2020). But then the movie kept going unexpectedly. Over all I'm glad I watched it and would gladly watch it again.
Jennifer Lopez had an excellent hot girl turned action girl turn. Almost as good as Megan Fox in Rogue (2020). Fox gets way more marks for difficulty having to play the same type of character in a much smaller more model-ish body even though Lopez gets the nod in verisimilitude. Lopez has done fisticuffs before and I actually think Enough (2002) was a better movie over all but this isn't the role you expect Jennifer Lopez to be in. But she does well enough. She's not a seasoned action star but she's putting in the effort. There are edits that show she isn't doing the running and jumping and gunning like her character but there's enough facetime that you can see she isn't stepping back and letting her stunt double do a movie.
Young Lucy Paez surprised me. I kinda thought she was a throwaway character in the first half that's how awkwardly shot things were. She developed. She's still an annoying tween but not nearly as annoying as others (looking at you The Adam Project with your surprisingly solid acting but just awful awful writing).
But this is two movies smushed together. One okay and one rather decent. It's Django Unchained all over again in that respect. It's in part the length that gives some of the best parts of the movie time to mature. The problem is the tension isn't even in the movie. It doesn't ratchet up to bigger more serious stakes. It can't because it has to squeeze in another movie to it just feels empty in parts. I'd have liked to see this redited or rewritten to smooth out what they no doubt term Act 2 and Act 3 but in actuality are just Movie 1 and Movie 2 and craft a single well paced movie even if it was long. Of course I could hear editors grumbling about how you could do the same thing by just trimming the fat with some minor reshoots. The estranged mother-daughter relationship works. It's one of the more interesting parts of the movie and it's the part I thought wasn't going to get enough attention at first. The other relationships don't. The hint that Mother and Cruise might have been into each other felt gratuitous. In another movie I would have wanted it sure but here it felt like someone said "We have Jennifer Lopez we can't have like NO sex appeal anywhere." which after some very tasteful shot selections earlier in the movie felt like what they were going to do which was kinda awesome. Still it never got too bad.
All my problems with this movie tend to be with the people behind the camera rather than in front of it which I suppose might say something. The last act takes place in the winter in a wooded area and honestly there are just so many odd choices made it's like they were only made to setup cool set pieces. If they're sneaking in on foot why do they have individual snowbikes? It's for cool snowbike shots. We have a character who has proven herself to be willing to fight and soon as she gets kidnapped she's like a bird in a hood. Stops doing anything while they drive her away... why? So there can be a sick takedown shot.
The Mother delivers exactly what you would expect from Jennifer Lopez in an action movie. While there are a few decent action scenes sprinkled throughout, they aren't enough to compensate for the film's lackluster writing. Lopez brings her usual charisma to the screen, however the action genre doesn't really fit her skill-set. The plot feels predictable and lacks originality, leaving you craving more substance. It's a forgettable film that lacks originality and fails to leave an impression.
Not a bad movie but Zoe cried for about 80% of the movie and must have had very sore skin in those temperatures.
Oh dear, such a shame, I was expecting it to be better. Acting was bad as well as the script.
Decent movie but the daughter is so annoying
OMG! OMG! OMG! What a corny movie. Please skip I have wasted 2hrs for you. Your welcome!
+1 For the truth about food production. ;)
I've enjoyed watching this and found the action scenes to be mostly enjoyable with some heartfelt scenes splattered in there aswell. My big critique of this however is that I didn't find the story to be that unique and I think the film is overall forgettable and one that won't stand the test of time.
J.Lo is a bad ass. Kids cry a lot. Where's Maury with the paternity tests?
There are a couple of decent action scenes in this predictable thriller but the story is nothing special.
Sniper with a fine butt i can't ask for more
This is more or less a Netflix JLo version of Taken (or any other kidnapping revenge type movie you can think of). It's quality for what it is, but it is still easier to recommend its counterparts. If you like the genre, it is still worth checking out!
Rating: 2/5 - 6.5/10 - Not Recommended to Everyone
The story was OK, but Jlo is just not an action star. It is so noticeable every time there is a stunt double. Also, the fight choreography was just bad. Watchable, but forgettable.
The mother? Nope. The crap.
Poorly executed, undeveloped characters, villains with little to no motivation, a cliché with so many mistakes, a 6/10 at best.
It's the type of movie you watch once and then forget about it. Just like any of the Taken
Liked Jennifer acting as the protective mother, not so much the fight scenes
I watched the first hour in two parts, but then I gave up. Don't take it personally if you liked it.
Not great, not bad.
The story was pretty shaky at the start trying to explain everyone’s relationships and there were a few plot holes and over reaching in the beginning.
But it definitely got better as the movie progressed.
The acting was ok, not great but not bad.
The blonde daughter was a little hard to take coming from two Latinos.
The scenery was fantastic, especially the winter snowy scenes.
Not a great movie but certainly not a waste of time. I gave it a 7 out of 10.

not terrible but too long it started dragging wish it was shorter, faster paced and more actiony
