The film doesn’t take itself nearly as seriously as either The Gentleman or Wrath of Man, and that’s a good thing. Henry Cavill is in rare form and the supporting cast of Alan Ritchson, Henry Golding, Alex Pettyfer, and Hero Fiennes Tiffin deliver strong performances.
I love the interplay between Babs Olusanmokun and Eiza Gonzalez, especially her flirtations with the German leader.
The soundtrack was on point too.
Story was a bit lacking and you pretty much know how it's going to end, but I didn't care as I had a ton of fun with this film.
As a history buff with a specific interest in WWII and a long-time Guy Ritchie fan, this was one of my most anticipated movies of the spring. While "Ministry" succeeds in delivering plenty of Good Old-Fashioned Nazi Killin':tm:, it feels less like a Ritchie classic and more like a flick from the director's middle era (think "Man from U.N.C.L.E.", "Legend of the Sword". You know, the sell-out years). Luckily, Cavill and company inject enough charisma into their portrayals to keep the ship afloat (pun very much intended)
This just instantly became my one of the most anticipated movies of 2024, I love Guy Ritchie's messy style and Henry Cavil looks so damn good in this

Great cast, great music, fun action, silly humor, and a feel-good Nazi-killing story — not every Guy Ritchie movie is a good movie, but every Guy Ritchie movie is a fun movie.
(Honestly I'd be disappointed if Henry Cavill got the Bond job. I'd much rather see him in more ridiculous roles like this one.)

Another disappointing outing from Guy Ritchie. As with Operation Fortune, this feels more like a poor imitation of his best films, rather than recapturing their magic. It felt like it was going through the motions, with characters I wasn't invested in, overly long/repetitive action sequences, and not enough effective humor.
Like a modern tank: rugged, stylish and solid.
Based on the true story of a secret mission (Operation Postmaster) in World War II, this film has many of the same players (Churchill, Ian Fleming) as Operation Mincemeat (2021) but succeeds where is predecessor failed thanks to a strong cast (Henry Cavill stands out) and dynamic directing by Guy Ritchie.
Like a tank, he story isn't anything really new and if fairly predictable as it moves along, but it at least it does it with a certain panache.
I walked away from the theater adding “Reacher” to my watchlist because Alan Ritchson was the real standout here. Elevated a very mediocre movie to a whole other level every time he was on screen. I really enjoyed his character a lot. lol
This movie makes me want to drink whisky and smoke cigarettes with a handlebar mustache. It's good fun, good story, good laughs and lots of kick ass.
Fun, fun and more fun. Cheeky play at a mostly real story. Great actors, funny, big action, and never felt like it laboured on a point. Who doesn't like a version of a WW2 story with Henry Caville?!
If Guy Ritchie's films are the cinematic equivalent of a cheeky pint down the pub, then "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" is like a raucous night out during the Blitz where the beer is flowing and the only thing louder than the laughter is the sound of bombs dropping. This film takes a page out of history's most secretive chapters and slaps it onto the screen with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer cracking a Nazi code.
Imagine a world where the Dirty Dozen meets Snatch. You've got a band of brothers so rough around the edges, they make sandpaper look like silk. They're the kind of lads who'd pick a lock with a grenade and call it 'subtle'. Led by a protagonist who's more rugged than the Cliffs of Dover, this crew doesn't just cross enemy lines; they dance over them with the grace of a bulldozer ballet.
The plot? It's as twisted as a ration line during wartime shortages, with enough turns to make a Spitfire pilot dizzy. The action sequences are a symphony of chaos, orchestrated with the precision of a Royal Air Force drill, and every explosion is a tip of the hat to Churchill himself. It's as if Ritchie raided the war archives, found the most bonkers operation that never happened, and said, "Right, let's crank it up a notch."
In true Ritchie fashion, the dialogue snaps, crackles, and pops more than a Wehrmacht radio under Allied jamming. The banter is so sharp, you could use it to slice through barbed wire, and the one-liners come as fast and furious as a Spitfire's machine guns.
So, if you're in for a bit of historical hijinks with a side of explosive entertainment, "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" is your ticket to victory. Just remember, in this theater of war, it's not about the medals; it's about the mayhem. And boy, does it deliver.
Is nobody going to mention how good of a Churchill Rory Kinnear has delivered us?
Gave me "Man from U.N.C.L.E" vibes. Quite liked it. Recommend watching.
This is the Guy Ritchie film ever.
I liked the movie, but it could have been shorter, and that would have made it better.
Another one of them movies where the characters 'naturally' talk about mundane things that don't carry the plot forward and loads of planning montages. If you're into that, great! This movie is for you. If not, you'll feel like this movie could've been 40 minutes shorter. Personally, I have to be in the mood for it and only when the setting interests me. But just like the Inglorious Bastards remake (which I could never completely finish), WWII fiction doesn't interest me.
And is that supposed to be Churchill?
Disappointing. I like Guy Richie for the uniqueness he brings, a bit like Shyamalan. Afew hits, afew nicks. Inglorious Basterds was beyond insane with the nazi genre. The Ministr - the name puts me off, anyway, the whole thing is washed through. The dialogue feels like wet clay, the acting/casting feels rushed, the plot could've been told by a 5 year old even though they wouldn't be able to get through it. You might enjoy this if you want to see the same over exposed conversations and back and forth action run on repeat. Probably will never watch this again.

A rare high-octane action flick from Guy Ritchie with little suspense and a focused plot. Too many characters, but, at least they went straight to the mission at hand. Quite entertained.
Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare falls short compared to other Guy Ritchie movies. It lacks the sharp dialogue and subtle comedy that Ritchie is known for. The characters aren't as memorable like his other movies. Fans of his usual style might find this one disappointing and less engaging.
And another good movie from our favourite Bri'ish Director (my personal favourite). Not his best, of course, but still worth a watch! Very good casting, soundtrack, shots, laughs, ... It's a pretty easy watch.

This movie is trying so hard to be another Inglorious Bastards. It's so weird they're making that horrible war appear like it's fun and games. Ooh, I'm gonna shoot some nazi with a bow!
A good action packed movie. WWII sabotage undercover operations. Well worth a watch, especially if you like seeing the good Guy's dish out mayhem to the bad guy's. :thumbsup_tone1:

Decent movie with great casting.
A humourous quiche of an action film. While comedic and we'll acted, it's quite slow to start especially when the plan and cast are revealed very quickly. I think it dragged on for a bit, especially with an elder man snoring in the corner of my theater. But a family of folk were laughing out loud multiple times throughout. I just think, it's another waste of Henry Cavill 's talent. Perhaps a film with him, Jason Momoa, and McConaughey would be a good band of fun antiheros.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is one part Inglorious Basterds, one part Italian Job, and two parts Operation Fortune, with maybe a dash of Bond. Although the film isn't as great as that cinematic cocktail may sound, it's enough for a good night at the movies.
