Just finished the movie, could not care whether he lived or died at the end. Actually, the best thing that could have happened is that the movie actually went up in flames before it even started, since it would have saved me quite a bit of time.
Like, seriously. I know what to expect of a Jason Statham movie by now, but even this one was too uncooked. 80% of the scenes are either irrelevant, dispensable, or both. Also, there's not a significant female character in the whole movie (actually, the only two female characters with lines in the movie just show up to be f***ed, and yes, I'm not counting the daughter and the wife of the security guard because they are on screen for some 16 seconds overall).
Don't know how many of you noticed it, but I kept seeing a boom mic through-out the entire movie. Usually top of the screen almost dead center or slightly above the actors heads.
Worst movie I've seen this year!!!
Entertaining movie, but not nearly as good as the original.
Wouldn't call it the worst of the year. I mean, Have you seen "Big Mommas"? :S

Entertaining action movie for sure. Although it had an interesting ending, it's not really a story you have to think about. No need to see it again, but I'm going to watch the sequel now.
Perfectly serviceable and entertaining (if not predictable) action movie with a little thrill to it.
Statham is Statham. Can't argue with that as he's very solid for what he does.
6.75/10
"Pulling a trigger is easy. The best jobs are the ones nobody even knows you were there."
On paper, the plot is pretty cool, but the delivery fell a little flat. I like Statham and Foster a lot as actors, and they did pretty good with that they have, I just didn't really enjoy the explosions and action as much as I thought I would.
It's a fun film but there are better action films out and better films with Jason Statham as well, it's a bit of a throwaway film with some really cool action sequences and also Ben Foster is really good in the film.
The best description of this film is it is a popcorn film that is fun to kill a bit of time.
There are some clichéd action plot points and there are some fairly flat moments but The Mechanic makes up for it with a great final act and a good dynamic between Ben Foster and Jason Statham. The action is well done. There probably could've been a bit more character work but for a 90 minute action film it works.
When Jason Statham is good he is very good. In this movie I think he is very good as the silent, deadly killer for hire. It is a straightforward killer/action/thriller. The story is nothing new but it is a well working story which is nicely executed.
The story is, as I wrote above, not very original. Killer for hire finds out that his next target is his mentor and friend. As the professional he is he executes the job anyway but later discoverers that not all is as is should be. Time for revenge. A simple, straightforward and well working story.
Things are complicated a bit by Bishop taking his friend’s son under his wings. Of course he wants to walk in his fathers footsteps. He is inexperienced but also undisciplined. Something that, not surprisingly, is causing problems.
I do like that Bishop stays a no bullshit hardass killer throughout the entire movie. No whining or silly emotional outbreaks or breakdowns. I also like the unemotional, silent and deadly impression of a professional assassin the he radiates.
There are quite a few fairly well done action scenes in the movie ranging from silent assassinations to the obligatory blow things up scenes. The parts where Bishop and Steves goes after the big bad guy is quite well done with some quite cool stunts without being over the top.
The ending was probably the only thing in the movie that was a bit unexpected. Unexpected in a good way that is. I quite liked the little surprise there.
Overall I as well as my son liked this movie quite a lot. I hope that Mechanic: Resurrection is as good as this one.
I may have been a little too harsh on this before because of my love for the original. It's actually a pretty decent remake. Doesn't reinvent the wheel or anything, but for a time waster, it's an okay actioner.
A typical, but decent film added to Jason Statham's resume. While it's a remake of a movie I've never seen, I believe this film fits well with Statham, who made it his own. Personally looking forward to seeing the sequel, as he hasn't really made a movie featuring himself as a main character in a good while. No, he's not exactly Oscar material, but he's fun and apparently never ages.
Another Statham twist on the same genre. He continues to play the same role and continues to deliver awesome movies. Great action scenes with a riveting story. I thought Foster was very good in a different role for him. Worth the watch as a Statham fan!
Sorry JS but this one is a bit of a dud
Pure non-stop action, no mercy.
Definitely one of the better Statham films, pure fun plus added a few original touches to things which I liked. Great action/genre film overall
Have to admit that JS is a bit of a guilty pleasure. He only knows how to play one role amd loves to ham it up but he knows how to kick ass for sure. One of his better films. Even the missus said she was warming to him after watching this
@mangchild Yeah I noticed hahaha... Yeah this movie is BAD and STUPID but they do it so well it's hilarious totally worth watching with your BROS. Great movie that you can talk through and not feel bad about. We ripped on this movie and laughed pretty hardcore. It may have sucked but it sucked soooooooo good!
same old stat ham shit, stinks but rocks.
This is a typical Jason Statham movie where he plays an ubercool hitman who assassinates people for a living.
The action is good, like always. The story not so much. The writers could have given Jason Statham his character a little more depth, but they decided to focus entirely on the action.
It seems that lately almost all off Jason Statham his movies are somehow about him being a (ex)hitman and killing a lot of people. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with that, but i wouldn't mind seeing him in another role for once. Like a romantic comedy or something. I am curious to see if he has the talent to be in a role like that.
I'm not a fan of Statham & I don't remember a movie I liked after the first Transporter but I did enjoy this one a lot, I haven't seen the original but I thought this was so good that it made me want to watch the Charles Bronson one.
Typical Statham movie action movie - if you're a fan you will enjoy this. It starts a bit slow, builds well and the finale is excellent. It's certainly not the 1972 Bronson original, but it is well worth a watch.
Started off a little slow, but then took off. I haven't seen the original Charles Bronson version yet, but after seeing this I will be putting it on my list.

Reviewing The Mechanic was something I didn't think I would do, as I really didn't care all that much for it the first time around, but seeing as there's a sequel soon hitting the cinemas, I thought I'd give it a shot.
The Mechanic starts rather good. Statham and Sutherland has a few rather good scenes in the opening of the film and all is well...
...then Ben Foster hits the scene, and everything goes meh.
Don't get me wrong. The action is good, the locations and the cinematography are good, and Statham does his stonefaced persona well enough...yet again. What made this go somewhat bad is the total lack of sympathy for the characters. Foster plays a whiny and impulsive brat...badly, Statham, even though he usually kills bad guys, doesn't come off as particularly sympathetic either. There's something about the story and the fact that these guys kill for money without much remorse that rubs me the wrong way. There's no noble cause or anything to make you even a tiny bit sympathetic with the protagonists.
Anyway...I'm going to see the sequel just because Statham is one of my favourite actors when I just want to spend some time relaxing, but I don't think I'll ever see this one again...
