I used to and still do love this movie! The actors did an amazing job, it was really funny and had it sad times at the same time, definetely a classic, solid 9/10!
Oh boy, the things you could get away with in the nineties.
I love this movie, I've seen at least 30 times and still makes me laugh like the first time I saw it, Brilliant!!.
It was much funnier back in 1994 when it still was fresh. Jim Carrey's style can wear out pretty fast.
But I liked it in ´94 it's just not the kind of movie that does age well. And featuring Cameron Diaz - at least that still counts for something, right ?
Really liked this movie when it came out (watched on cinema), bought the Blu-ray on sale for 5 euros, rewatched and now I can see the movie is kinda bad, it gets boring fast, it's definitely not the best movie with Jim Carrey but not the worst like the Ace ventura (oh God). It's one of that movies that it was just good at that time.
The Mask is notable for both spoofing almost the whole history of cinema while at the same time respectfully paying homage to it. The audience is treated to everything from silent film slapstick to lavish musical numbers (with excellent songs), frenzied Tex Avery-styled animation to gangster film suspense. On its surface, the film is a crazy, often funny, hyperactively paced cinematic pastiche.
So you've got to get out of the shell and just be yourself
Also
Jim carry can never disappoint with his performance
Thoroughly enjoyable except that generic thing in the 3rd act when the hero realizes he's going to have to do it without his powers. it's a fun movie, it didn't need that layer. Highlight of the movie was every Jim Carrey scene as the mask.
The actual story is only a 6/10 but it gets some bonus points for originality and creativity both in directing and visuals.
This movie is peak physical comedy
"It's party time. P, A, R, T. Y? Because I gotta!"
The amount of times I would go around saying "Smokin!" as a kid because of this movie was insane. It's goofy and slapstick-y but at the same time they have just amount of serious beats to make it a legit movie. It's still enjoyable if you know what you are going into, and Jim and Cameron look so good in this.
Pure magic by Jim Carrey as usual. This was so fun to rewatch - I remember to love it as a kid. The premise of the movie is just so silly that I feel like it would be a huge fail if not by Carrey.
Still, to this day, I have no idea how they changed the whole comics and made this a comedy movie after all - these comics is just waaay too different. And it was positive after all! This movie IS "the mask" in pop culture, making the original "non-cannon" here.
Also, the cartoon was great as well.
BR: Impossível assistir isso aqui sem ser dublado. Que nostalgia gostosa.

the energy i will be channelling this year is how jim carrey acts when he plays a green fella
Awesome over the top acting that knocked it out of the park watched 30yr later and still a good horror comedy
A mask that turns you into whatever you want to be.
Cameron Diaz at her peak. Ahem… Smokin’ :ok_hand_tone3::grin:
I just love it! The plot is hilarious and original. But Jim Carey is the ONLY ONE who could have been The Mask, he is just PERFECT! THIS is his definite role.
It's from way before my time but I gotta say, this movie is horrible.
The humour feels really outdated and forced and there is not a scene in this movie that made it worth watching.
Not as good as I remember, still an amusing watch regardless.
It's been many, many years since I last watched 'The Mask', hence why I hadn't had it logged on here before now, and while it isn't as funny or as quotable as I thought it would be (I remember really liking it as a kid), there is still enough in there that I got much entertainment from.
Jim Carrey's performance is superb, without him you'd have a very cringe and ultimately disappointing flick. Interesting to note that he did this, 'Ace Ventura: Pet Detective' and 'Dumb and Dumber' (which I gotta see at some point!) all in 1994 - quite the year! Peter Greene and Peter Riegert are also involved, though it's very much the debuting Cameron Diaz that is the best of the rest behind Carrey.
Apparently this had a sequel released in 2005, 'Son of the Mask'. On paper it should be awful, so therefore I gotta go check it out!
look, this movie isnt the best but as a drunk movie it might aswell be a ten, SMOKIN!!!!!!
I wished to see many parts of The Mask movie. It's very funny movie.
Does not hold up. Not fun to watch now.
The story could have been better.
The height of Carrey's whacky comedy that definitely wears on you real quick when are you aren't just a 12 year old pimpled kid anymore. It really hasn't aged too well. Cameron Diaz hasn't looked as good since.
