The Ides of March 2011

I was a bit disappointed by this movie to be honest. I expected the story to be a bit more involving. It's an interesting plot and the actors are reasonably good, but I was hoping for even more intrigue and drama.

"Do something that's gonna make you happy, okay? Cause you stay in this business long enough, you're going to get jaded and cynical."

Politics is a dirty game, no matter what party is in charge. This movie highlights the behind-the-scenes bs that happens and how everyone plays dirty tricks to get ahead. I was expecting more of a thriller but this was "aight".

I really really enjoyed this film. The cast was fantastic - Gosling, Clooney, Giamatti and Hoffman. While it was billed as a political thriller it was more a study of what politics can do to good and well-meaning people.

I didn't like it. For political movies I prefer Charlie Wilson's War or Lions for Lambs. Sorry, George.

This one prompted me to make a list of movies me and my boyfriend have bailed on before finishing. Doing so was a consideration for this one. It was boring and I didn’t like or relate to any of the characters. I fell asleep towards the end and then just read what happened via Wiki.

The Ides of March offers a fascinating look into the world of political campaigns, and the film's examination of the moral compromises and behind-the-scenes maneuvering that often occur is both engrossing and thought-provoking. The performances by the lead actors, including Ryan Gosling, George Clooney, and Philip Seymour Hoffman, are excellent and add to the film's authenticity and believability. The plot is well-paced and keeps you engaged from throughout, with several twists and turns that keep you guessing.

Surprisingly well-written, however I feel it could've been even tighter if it was penned by someone like Aaron Sorkin.
Very topical, considering the fact that the DNC are now employing similar tactics (backing far-right Republican nominees that they deem easier to defeat).

i enjoyed it, but i feel like that was purely because half of my attention was on crocheting lol. not much happens, but it happens well. the acting really helps this movie along. absolutely heartbreaking seeing her on the floor.

Good movie with great perfomances but i felt like something was missing especially in the end..Worths a watch just to see the dirty side of politics.. 7.0/10

The movie was doing fine and then just ended. Did the writer get bored? I did. Movie sucked!

I did not expect anything from this movie and I was not disappointed.
One of the most boring and slow movies I have seen in a long time.

If you expect any kind of pace or excitement in this movie you will be disappointed.

Here... I'll save you the trouble: New guy compromises his morals to get ahead in the political game. You'll thank me for giving you 2 hours of your life back.

Ryan Goslin is fucking amazing. He owns this movie. He keeps getting bigger and bigger.
