I think the Purge series is better than people give it credit for, sure the subtext is basically just text but they have a lot of fun with it. This one isn’t the best of the series but mostly enjoyable, I like what they go for but feel it’s a weird cop out to undo the end of The Purge Election Year, but maybe that was covered in the tv show.
I have a feeling this movie (and all Purge movies) will one day be pointed to as having predicted the future of the USA.
Super Fun and a glimpse into the America Trump and his supporters want.
Wow! is America this bad? Are white people evil? So immigrants will save America? Wow! This is is high level propaganda trash! " AMERICAN DREAMERS."
A lot better than the last two Purge movies!
The Forever Purge takes on more than it can chew while trying too hard to give a message, nullifying its impact. Some of the action is decent but, all of the characters are really bland and fail to keep the story absorbing.
When it comes to this franchise nothing has beat the first one and got bored of the rest and should of ended but this one was alright, the cast were average, the script was cheesy, plot was simple and the action wasn’t bad like.
To be honest The Purge movies were never really good but something went really wrong with this one. Ignoring the most hardcore pandering I’ve ever seen it felt like watching a really bad soap opera at times. The only good thing about this es the sound mixing. Avoid this movie.
I litterally couldn't care less about any of the characters. And what the hell 8s she on about with the America is everything thing?
As the film breaks the rules of the Purge, it turns into something quite generic, despite an honourable message at the conclusion.
Currently with a 50/78 rt split between critics and the audience. For a purge movie this was pretty solid actually, so I agree w the high audience score. 6.3 for me. Decent kills, a bit too much strobing effects in various parts gave me a bit of a headache though. Solid acting from most of the protagonists, the antagonists were caricatures and pretty lame. Worth a one time viewing for fans of the franchise.
It's not saying much but this is the best purge movie to date.
I feel like this and all of The Purge movies don't reach the full potential of the story/subject.
its the fith movie in the fanchise, so just dont expect too much. im just here for the stupidness and gore of the purge - its kinda entertaining.
Probably better if they had branched out to other countries instead of never ending purge. Like a england purge or Australia purge. Or instead of a never ending purge they had a surprise 1 day purge or 1 week purge
Decent action horror film and the best entry in the series so far. It's still using the same formula but it actually goes deeper into the concept and has more story to offer compared to the other films. The theme is still heavy handed and clumsy, at this point I know it's always been that way, the main purpose of this series is giving political messages other than anything else. And I keep coming back because that's what's appealing about it. I really enjoyed the filmmaking of this, it feels very tense and anxious throughout with an interesting set of characters and most of them are memorable. The standout for me is Ana de la Reguera, she's badass and very fun to watch. Anarchy and Election Year have those meandering moments but I didn't find any in this one, which is great. Those cheap jumpscares though, they leave bad taste in my mouth but fortunately fun suspenseful action sequences and great kills make up for it.
it's fine, just like every other Purge movie, it's commentary about class and race, this one is no exception.
An okay movie. Keeps your attention with a slow build upto the Purge and then the action starts. :thumbsup_tone1:
Ok ok ok ok ok
After a stint on television, the Purge is back on the big-screen with The Forever Purge. When a group of rogue vigilantes carry the Purge passed the 12-hour allotted time and cities are thrown into chaos, a rancher and his family try to escape to Mexico. Starring Josh Lucas, Will Patton, Leven Rambin, and Cassidy Freeman, the film has a pretty solid cast. And it explores some interesting issues; as this time it’s not about purging oneself, but rather purging society of the rich, the haves, the minorities, the other. However, the politics can be a little muddled and heavy-handed at times. Still, the chases and fight scenes are suspenseful and exciting. The Forever Purge is entertaining and tries some new things, but the storytelling’s a little weak and the violence seems a bit toned down compared to the other Purges.
by far the worst purge movie. It was fine for the first hour or so but it just got ridiculous once they opened they decide to go to Mexico. The scene where they are driving getting shot up and they just wave the flag to get away was dumb. It took everything in me to stop watching this because after the first bit it isn't even a purge movie anymore.
this is the most realistic entry into the series tbh
This one was watchable and fairly enjoyable unlike the last one
Not the worst of the Purge movies...
too cheesy, didactic and foreseeable and not satisfying action needs
Like a nice quadruplet, this one isn't your least favorite, though it's difficult to tell them apart.
The first two acts held their own and brought a refreshing angle to the franchise, along with some decent action. Sadly, once it descended into the third act, it hit rock bottom and felt like a made for TV Purge.
So bad after 60min this crap is enough no action bad actors bad story....
Had 10 minutes to go in the movie and I turned it off. I couldn’t care less how it ends. Shame on you josh Lucas and will Patton for accepting these sub par roles. All the other terrible actors were appropriately casted
I've not watched it, but when there is only one actor you recognise ... well it's probably a miss. I also have the feeling from the brief Trakt overview of the film that I'm going to be lectured to on morality again.
This was just a bad movie.
Could have been so much better! what happen?
High budget boredom. Same premise, same results, no changes to the formula. The only good thing is the sound design with gunfire and screams constantly sounding in the distance. Even the gore is tame with most death blows happening off-camera or at blurry angles.
Who said they couldn't do irony across the pond?

Interesting premise was better than I thought
