The Eyes of Tammy Faye 2021

Chastain deserves an Oscar for her amazing performance!

If the 2000 documentary underlined the caricature, this film wants to redeem her, giving the impression that neither of them manages to adequately reveal the character, with her contradictions (an evangelist turned gay icon) and its merits (the visibility of AIDS in the 1985 interview). Jessica Chastain's work is remarkable because she manages to shed the physical appearance to convey Tammy's inner instability.

What a superb acting from Chastain. Outstanding, I haven’t seen such a great performing in a very long time. She totally deserves an Oscar.

Jessica Chastain really put herself out there with this performance…. It was great. Very interesting story and portrayal. Good movie

Jessica Chastain is incredible in this, but it's not a very good script, and Andrew Garfield makes Jim Bakker way too sympathetic. That guy is a monster and a rapist.

A lousy movie with bad subject matter overshadowing some amazingly realistic and solid acting performances.

I did not care for the story, but the performances were outstanding.

A very sympathetic look at the rise and fall of Tammy Faye Bakker. Jessica Chastain truly earned her Oscar. I give this film a 7 (good) out of 10. [BioPic]

Chastain is brilliant as the televangelist and Garfield is great too. Like many people who flaunt their faith for riches and fame, the lives of Tammy and Jim took a downward turn. I can't condone their mistakes but as the film shows, they were both flawed human beings, much like every one of us. There by the grace of God go we.

Plain standard biopic, good to learn more about the specific story and then look at Wikipedia to get the complete real picture. About the film itself nothing much to say.

I thought the performances were too soap opera-ish. But maybe these people were really over the top. And I also found all the prosthetics distracting.
I will recognize that the film made me empathize with Tammy at the end.

This was a very slow and boring watch for me. They could have easily reduced the runtime of this by 30 minutes.

The artist who did hair and makeup of Jessica Chastain deserves an Oscar. I enjoyed watching how hair and makeup composition completely transformed Jessica Chastain into Tammy Faye, and then made Tammy Faye age through time. Amazing effort and talent.

What an amazing performance by Jessica Chastain!

Unexpectedly enjoyable. Definitely deserves praise for its understated account of the unconventional life and idiosyncratic visage of Tammy Faye.

Throughout the movie, Jessica Chastain actually shines, and the rest? Very average, because there are still plenty of scammers and we have enough of it every day.

I don't usually watch or like religious movies, but I took a chance on this because of Jessica Chastain. Still didn't like it.

Chastain and Garfield are INCREDIBLE as always! While the plot is not really something that speaks to me, I typically really enjoy the modern historical true story films. This one is fine in a story sense, but what stands out is the performance by the two leads.

Rating: 3/5 - 7.5/10 - Worth Watching

Jessica Chastain is mesmerising and I recommend the film for.her performance . Her comic sensibilities are on point and she finds such range within the role. The film itself is missing something. I wonder if the problem is that we, the audience, are.kept on the outside. We never truly find out to what extent they believe all this BS.
