The Dictator 2012

No, this film was Aladeen.

A few good jokes, the rest is just dull stuff - not Sacha Baron Cohen's best work (IMO).

May not be for everyone, but I enjoy laughing.

Man I love this shit. It was hilarious.

This movie was quite Aladeen. Did not Aladeen, that's for sure. But if you really take a deep dive the Aladeen, is quite Aladeen.

my favorite movie of all time.

The Greatest Comedy. Movie ever

Ouch. That was a bit rough to sit through.

I like Sacha Baron Cohen's acting, because he's a good actor, but my god what an idiotic movie. I laughed maybe once throughout the whole thing; it was a complete waste of time.

The Dictator gave me a kinda "Meh" feeling, it's worth watching the movie because it's not bad, but it's not good either.

There are quite some funny moments in the movie, but I feel something is missing from it.

It's quite painful to watch but some moments are really well done, for example his final speech at the Lancaster.

If you seen Sacha Baron Cohen's previous films, then you know "The Dictator" will bring the same stupid funny comedy that we just enjoy watching. The Dictator takes the serious reality of dictatorship and turns it into a very funny and probably controversial film that Sasha Baron Cohen is familiar making. The film is enjoyable and a even though a lot of the jokes might be offesive for some people, the film still manages to entertain the viewer...Definately recommended if you liked Sacha Baron Cohen's previous comedies.

Was very good, short (cause is short i give 9),was very funny.
It was some scenes boring like:when Aladeen try to jump over the water and Nadal stop him.

I just laughed so hard. The subliminal critics were majestic. Great fucking movie.

Sacha Cohen is probably too recognizable to get away with the unscripted bits that fueled his characters on Da Ali G Show any longer, which is a pity because those provided the fodder for most of his biggest laughs. He gets by okay in The Dictator, his first starring vehicle without any such scenes, but also feels more homogenized and common than ever before. It's an intentionally crass, stupid film that leaves no culture un-mocked and no softball un-smacked. That's not to say it isn't funny, because it is - I averaged a legitimate laugh every five minutes, which is far better than the modern average - but it's missing the sharp-edged points that helped his previous films transcend generic comedy. Borat was as much about cultural disconnect as it was naked men wrestling in a hotel lobby, and Bruno used its explicit shocks to challenge homophobia at large. Despite a hammy attempt to shoulder in a deeper message about modern democracy, The Dictator has nothing even remotely intelligent to say. Take that for what you will; there's still a place in film for plain, dumb laughs, but I was hoping for something more unique considering Cohen's track record.

I should have watched it sooner. With all the indie comedies that provide sensible chuckles, I missed a sharp, crass comedy like this one.

It's not as good as Borat but it's close enough.

I think this piece of work is good. If you're only looking to laugh and have a good time watching a movie with your friends, then this is the right choice. In my opinion, it has great humor! I aladeen this movie.

So to those who are expecting and hoping for something similar to Bruno and Borat you may be left a little disappointed, but for those who wouldn't mind seeing something slightly different, and can take a movie for what it is, then you should enjoy this, as I did.

Ok for a Sacha Baron Cohen comedy, not as good as his previous works, and i must say, it have an awful cheesy ending, 4/10

loading replies

There were very good and clever jokes, but the end was kinda cheesy. Not as good as Borat but better than Brüno. I give it an 8 out of 10.

loading replies

I really enjoyed this. Still am yet to see Borat however.
