One of the few movies from the 90's that got the drug addiction part right. While drug use was glorified in many other movies, this one zeroed in on it and it's deadly wake.
Hard. But the rise of Leo. Amazing.
A dark and deep one for Leo, I didn’t expect the way it went. Drugs are very powerful.
Weak in many areas, but DiCaprio's portrayal was astonishing. Completely bleak and haunting.
After What's Eating Gilbert Grape, this should possibly have been Leo's second oscar nom. The ending was a happy ending, which is always good but the film lacked plot-twists. I felt like apart from from Leo's ups and downs, I didn't care about much else, I didn't get enough emotion from it except upset. The acting from Leo, James Mado, Mark Wahlberg and Bruno Kirby was brilliant, and Ernie Hudson's role was vital and some of my favourite scenes. Not the most memorable storyline, the highs and lows of a drug addict but a real eye opener and it does pull on your heart strings for sure.
Drugs are easy to get, but hard to get rid of

It wasn't bad but I expected it to be better than it actually is.
It's based on a true story and show us the awful world of drugs in a realistic way.
The young Leonardo DiCaprio gave great strong and believable performance. Mark Wahlberg did a nice work as well.
