The Amityville Horror 2005

Not really a comment about the movie but kind of interesting. My mother and aunt went to high school with the kid that killed his family, he was a junkie and killed them while high and looking for money. The whole supernatural element was made up by his defense lawyer in an attempt to get an insanity ruling (which failed). I grew up a few minutes away from the house in Amityville NY, and up until about two years ago you could still fully recognize it (the boathouse was dead on to the movie) but to finally put an end to drunk teenagers sneaking around their property the new owners finally did a complete tear down and rebuilt. So nothing cool happened, and nothing cool to look at on foggy nights anymore, but it is definitely a cool story from my hometown.

Really good cast, not as good writing or directing. But the amount of shirtless Ryan with a full beard didn't make me regret watching it. So that's something.

Scary and atmospheric. Pretty well done horror movie.

Otro remake que da escalofrios y da miedo. Con una interpretacion de Ryan Reynols que da verdaderamente miedo

Every single haunted house horror movie cliché and then some. Not interesting nor scary in the slightest.

100 jump scares in a trench coat

Am I the only one that left disappointed by this movie cause Ryan never even makes one sarcastic Reynolds-remark or joke? Both as a good father and as a haunted figure that eventually kills the family, not a single one!

Just 1 joke or sarcastic remark would have sufficed!

The scariest thing about this was Ryan Reynolds attempting to act serious.

An okay remake but the original is far superior and a must watch.

I don’t believe in haunted houses, but I do believe that every place has its history that might be affecting it (why are there no birds singing in Auschwitz?). I would never be able to live in a house like this because some people are sensitive to these things and it might explain what the Lutz’s family has been through.
The movie was quite good, not as scary as I though it would be as they were not trying to blow things out of proportions. Definitely made me interested in the story itself.

Not as chilling as the original and missing some good scenes like seeing the estate agents face when they tell her their just married & have three children. James Mason also played a big role in the original and a lot of his iconic scenes are either missing or badly replaced. James Brolin was so great in the lead role but Ryan Reynolds doesn’t come close at all.

an underrated film in my opinion despite being a rimake between several that Amityville has but in my opinion one of the best there is with this name with recognized actors and some that would later be more relevant as the protagonist,

i'm the epitome of human garbage so i still haven't seen the original but i liked this. i mean i liked ryan reynold's signature sass, the beard and the amount of shirtless screen time enough to pay attention to the entire film.

This started out great making me question why I put off watching it for so long. And then, after an hour in, I realized why. Strong start, absolutely weak ending.

Not a bad remake - just as scary as the original
