Not your typical Assassin Movie Smart, great Cinematography, Loved it.
starts slowly but gets better when you get in.
George Clooney stars in the indie thriller The American. Based on a novel, the story follows a weapons specialist who’s sent to a village in Italy to make a custom rife for an assassin. The writing is rather weak but Clooney’s able to punch it up a bit and delivers a nuanced performance that gives his character an air of intrigue. However, the pacing is rather poor and the plot is fairly predictable. A disappointing and problematic film, The American is a meandering character drama that doesn’t really go anywhere.
8 out 10 for the perfect tits.
Lovely cinematography, slow-burning drama that just happens to be about an assassin.
It's as much about a lost man looking for something to give his life that missing dimension.
As decent a watch as it is, it really only hits its stride about 2/3 in. The rest is a love letter to rural Italy - a small town in Abruzzo.
George's acting is hit-and-miss and it feels more like a first-time's breakout film than it should.
7/10
"Don't make any friends, Jack. You used to know that."
The cinematography and style of this film is simply gorgeous. I went in expecting a typical shootout hitman action spectacle, and got a more subtle, beautiful and slow paced film. It won't be for everyone, but I really enjoyed the quiet moments and scenery.
Old world charm vibe
Loved it, Anton Corbijn really knows how to shoot a movie.

This one is very special. A tad slow for some maybe, but visually outstanding!
