The Addams Family 2019

human really is the worst huh? You see someone's different than you, then it's pitchfork time

This is the kind of Halloween movie that's not gore/scary enough so its safe for kids and catering the adult's audience nostalgic feeling

Terrible animation, lazy character modules, weak story line, awful jokes, paper thin character development, and out of nowhere music choices.

I'm honestly surprised Illumination didn't make this movie.

It tries hard to be faithful and is. However, it’s not laugh out loud funny or as lively as the 90’s films. The film might win you over towards the end though because that’s when it gets better.
For some, that might be too late. While, despite great casting. Only Oscar Isaac and Chloe Moretz really nail their characters. Otherwise the voice acting can be flat.
This is pretty much the Hotel Transylvania version of the Addams Family.

Just a typical kids movie with nothing really here for adults. The characters have some fun moments but overall it was boring. The animation was ok.

Well, they clearly bet it all on Wednesday, whose character carried the entire movie. The story is as bland as it can be and done so many times before: the Addams family introduce themselves to the new neighbourhood but they are not accepted by the community because of their weirdness. It doesn't help tho' that the rest of the community is so ugly drawn that look even worse than the Addams...
And by the way, in this day and age is more common to see people trying to be like the Addams, instead of actually rejecting them. And maybe this would have been a much better plot that could have taught individuality, instead of a boring tv trope seen in million ways in million movies.
So if you are looking for entertaining and actually funny Addams family movies, go back to the 90s. They are still unbeatable.

Hotel Transylva…err The Addams Family is a derivative and uninspired family comedy. After being driven from their home by an angry mob Gomez and Morticia Addams make a new home in an abandoned asylum, but when a realtor builds a planned community next door the Addams are once again threatened by an angry mob. Featuring the voice talents of Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, and Finn Wolfhard, the film has a pretty solid cast. The script however is incredibly poor; hitting every trope and cliché in the book. And its message couldn’t be more heavy-handed (the planned community’s called Assimilation for crying out loud). Also, the animation isn’t very good, as it’s rather generic and unimaginative. A lackluster effort to resurrect the series, The Addams Family lacks the wicked humor and macabre charm of the previous films.

The animation is fine. The basic story line is all right. It's just not funny.

I feel the needs to write about this asap not because it was particularly good. It's just that it's inanely average, has a moral lesson it preaches with the bluntness of a hammer and I'm likely to forget it if I don't jot it down right now.

5/10

Great character and house design, but the plot is more of the same old same old, let’s all get along and nobody messes with my family. Wednesday’s storyline is pretty boring too. But overall not bad to spend time. I can never get enough of the Addams family.

I’m kinda surprised this movie got all the hate it did. Considering it’s a kids movie, it’s pretty fun and entertaining, especially for Halloween season.

Fun for the kids but misses the perversity of the “live” version. Characters are not has creapy and Angelica Houston is unmatchable

Meh, OK but not great. I never like the super skinny animated characters, so that threw me off for most of the movie. I liked when Thing and Lurch were playing the organ together. And, the little poke at New Jersey was also funny.

Watchable but not rewatchable.

Not really my taste. I don't like dark and depressing movies so I guess it's not really surprise that I don't like it. It's neither really dark nor depressing but it's a little bit of both which removes the fun for me. I probably only found one or two jokes decent/good. I guess the main problem is that the monsters look too uninteresting/ugly and it feels somewhat sad.

Ironically I liked Wednesday the most though. I kinda like such characters in general. It's also a funny name (even more though with "It's wednesday my dudes"... xD).

I like Hotel Transylvania (although it has it's flaws too) because it is funny, the monsters look interesting/cool, and I can relate to them. Unfortunately this movie doesn't have that effect for me.

It was kinda interesting to watch such a weird movie for a change but I certainly won't rewatch it.

I like it more than the original movies.

It's just a simple children's movie.
It was good, not bad, but it has some extremely boring scenes.
The story is ok, compared to old movies it is worse.
However, he still has a small problem, as some characters are made, meaning that people were made a bit bad.
Fin Wolfhard and Oscar Isaac, played very well in this film.

A good voice cast, average plot and animation, some funny one liners but nothing on the live actions.

Not as ghoulish as it could have been, but still an enjoyable, if predictable reboot for the kooky family.

Really good entertainment for my family. They were all very pleased. From the great beyond.

I don't like the animation style. Indeed, I hate it. But the script and voice acting is superb, and the message is intact there, with gags from the tv show AND the movies, and the original song with lyrics. 9.9/10

Blah...

I'm up for new depictions of any storied movie, but this falls flat. Even the kids had a hard time liking the movie.

Honestly, it was an "okay" movie. I tried to love it..but it was average at most. Still prefer the live action one.

Following the logic of the Addams family universe where 'good' means 'bad' and 'terrific' means 'terrible', this is a 'good' excuse of a boring TV cartoon and a terrific waste of time.

The funniest thing about this Addams Family bar mitzvah is listening to the stellar cast do a legit dubious job voicing their characters (with the notable exception of Oscar Isaac, who was splendid).
