Super cute lil' film with groovy animation and a great sound track / score. Definitely the best feature length TMNT IMO. My tween son who's never watched TMNT and pretty much only likes YouTube and video games was captivated and cracked up several times...
As an older fan of the TMNT franchise, this one was genuinely fun. Enjoyed the animation style and the sound track was fitting. It had a simple plot but it didn’t need anymore. Looking forward to the next one.
It's definitely a movie aimed more at kids, given all the references, but I think it's still enjoyable for everyone. Stellar animation, solid voice acting, and great writing. The story wasn't great, but it was good enough. It's much better than the live action films, in my opinion.
Look you don’t have a lot to work with here, so this is probably as good as it could be. I like it more than the live action adaptations from the 2010s, that’s for sure. The plot and characters are nothing special, it’s really the stylistic animation and score that carry the entire movie. I also quite liked the voice acting, the turtles all feel distinct and I’m not surprised that Ice Cube’s expressive voice (given his background) works really well for animation. The problems start to reveal themselves as soon as you start to pay attention to the material that the actors are working with. The comedy mostly sucks and tries way too hard, as expected for mainstream American movies now. Some of the banter and dialogue felt like it got a pass by Marvel’s staff, it’s that embarrassing. It also has some of the weirdest, out of place pop culture references I’ve seen in a long time (you’ll know when you see them), as well as 90s needle drops that serve no purpose besides serving up empty nostalgia (seriously, even Transformers: Rise of the Beasts had the decency to at least set their film during the 90s). Its moments of action can be fun, but unfortunately it zips through a lot of them by montage during the first half, which was the wrong choice. The second half is definitely more entertaining in that regard. Overall, I don’t recommend this if you’re past the age of its target audience, but the beautiful visuals definitely made it more palatable compared to other movies like it.
5/10
The animation was so cool and the whole film was so fun with them acting like teenagers
Watch to chill and laugh not to be very serious action
First off the Animation was excellent and similar to the “spider-verse” franchise. The film has a solid story about family, friendship and overcoming your fears. It’s simple yet meaningful. The story was obviously written for a more younger and modern audience, having references to TikTok dances and other things pop culture. As a 2003 and 2012 TMNT fan it did take some getting used to but by the end of the movie I loved almost everything about this. Can’t wait to see what’s next, 8/10.
The animation in Mutant Mayhem is incredible and the soundtrack truly elevates the film. The voice casting, particularly Ice Cube, is perfect and the pop-culture references are great. The only aspect holding the film back is the story.
6.7/10. The first TMNT feature that actually portrays the Turtles as teenagers, and stands on its own for that. The film is authentic, strange and goofy, with an art style to match. While not a masterpiece (people expecting Spider Verse meets TMNT will be let down), it’s an important entry in the franchise where a lot has been done already. I’d be more interested in a sequel of them in high school (which is teased).
The only character that felt out of place was April. Both the lines and voice acting didn’t fit the lighthearted nature of the other characters.
Animation has to be by far one of the worse. They tried to hard to be original but it just looks horrible. Awkward proportions, Movement terribly unrealistic. Resemblance of badlands. That alone made for a terrible watch.
Voice actors were also terribly casted.
Storyline was not the best.
Very charming and fun. I loved the dynamic of the teenagers as it felt very realistic. The animation is stunning and I'm glad that each character got enough screen time. Some dialogue was borderline cringe, but they're teens so it makes sense. It was very funny and I loved the overall message. Leonardo was my favorite because of him figuring out what it means to be a leader, which is a good lesson for kids. Older people have a lot to enjoy as well. Splinter was a lot better than I thought he was going to be. The structure as a whole was a bit too fast at times and some of the writing could have had improvements, but overall a great family film.
The worst reboot ever, why? There aré so many stories to adapt, i skipt 20 minutes.
If you want a TMNT movie like the OLD serie this is not for you, if you want a carbonara with heavy cream, so a wrong carobnara, this movie is for you
The personality that oozes (heh) from this movie is off the charts, from the dramatically scratchy art style to the oh-so-New-York soundtrack. It's so refreshing to have Ninja Turtles who are actually teenagers and act accordingly, and their brotherhood is palpable and endearing throughout. It's frantic, it's frenetic, it's fraternal and it's fun. A great return for form for the Turtles that's a blast as a standalone movie as well. We're really in a renaissance for animated movies after what feels like a few years of phoned in ideas and dull sequels. Now to await the inevitable sequel and see how they handle Shredder .
I grew up watching the original cartoon, and having the ability to take my 2 kids to the theater to see this was just amazing. They loved it, I loved it, this movie just made me feel a lot of nostalgia, and seeing my kids loving it was just an amazing cherry on top!
This movie was bad on so many levels. Vomit humor? really? That wasn't funny even when I was the turtles age.
I would never have chosen to see this… but my daughter HAD to go, so we went. I appreciate that they were trying to do something different with the animation, but it just wasn’t that great to watch. And the plot was weak. Too many villains, and the most important one should have found the light in my opinion. The turtles were cute. But meh.
Cowabunga! What a refreshing and well told story. The cult of the aesthetic of the strange is present in the most diverse layers. From the lines to the script. This one, in fact, brings together references from the current generation with those who grew up watching the other works by the four turtles. Full of references, the plot succeeds in detaching itself from the theme of archetypes and focusing on the first letter T of TMNT.
Let me just be a little silly for a second and say that they perfectly captured the 2023 teenager!
He-man HEYAYAYAHEY action scene gets plus points from me.
"Can we get 'Spiderverse'?
We have 'Spiderverse' at home.
The Spiderverse at home: Mutant Mayhem.
Like Tik Tok content: nice images but no real story.
First and foremost, I’d be remiss to not highlight the stunning animation style that the film incorporates. On a personal level, I’m very enthusiastic about the recent trend embracing the "spider-verse" animation technique, particularly in action-oriented animated films. In my opinion, this comic-book-inspired visual aesthetic injects a remarkable degree of versatility and intensity into the film's action sequences, elevating them to levels of excitement that otherwise would’ve remained unattained. The animation imparts a sense of swiftness, raw energy, and exhilaration, and this movie leverages it to its fullest potential.
Surprisingly, I think this might be the first time where I've witnessed these teenage mutant ninja turtles truly embody the essence of adolescence and act like real teenagers. This portrayal injected a distinctive and unique dimension into their characters and banter, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Cowabunga!!!
So stylish! The perfect mix between tasteful score, neon colors and amazing animation style. Good look for the turtles and I like the distinct voices for them, you can easily follow who's talking based on the voices. Ice Cube is clearly the standout though, his voice fits right in with the vibe of the movie. Lots of obvious nostalgia needle drops. TMNT does play on the nostalgia a bit for me, I used to watch the animation series as a kid.
Everything's there for an enjoyable watch but... the story's so boring and lazy! On top of that there's barely any action. Third act was mildly entertaining but the rest of the action sequences are very short-lived. It's more of a "chillin with the turtles" laid-back story. Not much going on. It would maybe work if the comedy was better but I didn't laugh much. The movie does light up a bit when Superfly comes in though but it's immediately back to "vibin with the turtles and Superfly".
Overall not really my kind of vibe for a TMNT movie. So bored through most of it. Not enough to chew on.
By emphasizing the teenage part of the TMNT more than any previous iteration, this movie immediately freshens up the franchise and carved out an unique place in it. Something I love about the Spiderverse era of CGI animation is every movie does it’s own thing rather than just ape Spiderverse. Puss in Boots Last Wish went for watercolor esque visuals to drive home the fairy tale setting, and this movie harkens back to its 90s comic roots and the original movie by going into a deeply stylized, almost caricature direction, unafraid to have people and environment alike look scratchy, grimy, and ‘ugly’ in a way that reminded me at times of claymation.
For all the trailers emphasizing the star studded supporting cast, it’s the kids who do the most for this movie. They have such an easy and warm chemistry, and lines that could come off as too cringey or ‘how do you do fellow kids’ feel natural with their earnest, off the cuff delivery. Their desire to be normal and part of the human world drives the turtles in a new direction by the end that I wasn’t expecting, and there’s a point in the climax that echoes the Raimi Spider trilogy New York spirit of ‘Ya mess with one of us, ya mess with all of us!’ that I really liked. The turtles delight in people, and by the end, the movie makes it clear that it does too. Combine that winsome energy with a killer soundtrack, and Mutant Mayhem is a real treat.
(I’m not used to kids being actually excited by mid credits scene but I actually heard several squeeing about the next villain teased which was nice)
A bit different than other Ninja Turtles movies and shows. Though it is pretty charming.
I have a lot of thoughts about this movie and it's pretty much all positive. Mutant Mayhem is a winner.
First, hats off to the entire animation department. This is even more proof that we're in a new age of 3D/CGI animated movies. I know a lot of people are going to compare this to Spider-verse, which in essence is fair because this is yet another "on two's" style animated movie. That said, I don't think they are very similar stylistically other than that. Mutant Mayhem employs thicker, bolder textures and looks almost claymated, whereas Spider-verse uses thinner, sharper lines and lends a lot more inspiration from comics.
Voice cast killed it, including Rogen. The turtles feel like they're actual teenagers in this movie which is refreshing. Superfly (Ice Cube) was a great villain with plenty of range. Mondo Gecko (Paul Rudd) also deserves a special shoutout for being a very likable character.
Went in without knowing Trent Reznor made the soundtrack but it immediately stood out to me as a high point for the movie, the licensed tracks especially never felt out of place, quite the opposite.
I think the only thing I would criticize this movie for would be the storyline, it's not remarkable or new, even for the turtles. This being said it's hard for me to put fault on that when the movie is casually self-aware about this. It's also not annoying or self-referential like I was expecting, since many movies like this are.
If you're a Tutrtles fan you're already watching this, but for those who are fairly unfamiliar with the franchise (like me), this is an origin story and you won't feel out of place watching it. I'm stoked for any potential sequel!
I usually dislike anything that's not the 2003 series but this one was good. And the modern TikTok touch was somehow not annoying!
The movie overall is pretty average, 6/10. There's nothing special or really interesting about the film except the quality of the animation.
The artstyle is great except for the characters. The most normal looking one's are Leo, April, Donatello, and Superfly. Other characters range from adnormal to pretty ugly and uncanny (mostly the humans ironically).
The plotline is very basic and straightforward. Turtles want to be liked, they meet an April that doesn't fear them, they become heroes to become liked, fail at beating main villain, look like bad guys, beat villain, now liked. Very generic line.
The villains feel generic. For corporation it's "make mutant weapons" and for the mutants it's "kill humans cause they don't like us". And their reasoning blows too. "Some humans hated us so we'll kill all of them". Most of the villains didn't have interesting characteristics either.
The MC's were very generic as well. All 5 of them had the same exact goal, no differentiating personalities, and had the exact same humor. Raph's rage was non-existent (they speak of rage but it's just word alone, nothing shows rage), Donatello's intellect was barely there, Mikey barely feels like the chill brother like he usually is, and Leo doesn't show the maturity he usually does. Not to mention, the glasses on Donny, why do people make nerds wear glasses? Especially when they're Mutant ninja?
And Mondo Gecko feels more like Mikey than Mikey does. And like lack of actually being Ninja annoyed me, I get you wanted them to be more teenagery but you tossed Ninja away.
And speaking of teenagery. They felt more like children than teenagers. They're jokes and reactions felt like Tiktok children.
As for humor, it's not really great. Very few jokes made me chuckle, some made no sense in the moment (Like Donny saying they didn't know the BTS song when Leo was singing every word.), and other's are just, like I said before, Tiktok humor. "No rizz", the twerking, and stuff were all just trying to appeal to Tiktok humor and failing. And I noticed all of the humor was just the turtles talking in unison as well. It happened so many times that it felt so repetitive.
artwork is great but this is not TMNT.
It kind of felt like an amalgamation of a lot of the biggest hits from the last 5 years, I saw some Avengers in the writing, Spider-Verse obviously influenced the animation and I'm very into it, the 90's soundtrack is very trendy. Overall it was a pretty enjoyable experience, if a bit unoriginal
Basically - and I mean this completely seriously and honestly - I was looking forward to the movie.
I admit that I'm a tad too old to have come into contact with the fascination of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in my youth. This means I'm missing something crucial: the nostalgia factor that connects me to the movie.
Nevertheless - I was willing (more than willing, actually) to get involved in the fascination that the four turtles exert on many people.
And I was disappointed. Bitter. Tart.
Apart from its grandiose look (the film's visuals are beyond reproach), there was nothing about Mutant Mayhem that kept me interested. Bland, or rather non-existent story, devoid of content, empty. Embellished with a hundred shallow one-liners whose level barely exceeds the intellectual maturity of a 10-year-old. Bland, bland and bland again.
I don't know to what extent the characters in the movie capture the original intention of the Ninja Turtles, but I found them all very flat. There is no depth of content or emotion.
I think I might have enjoyed the movie if I had seen it when I was five years old. But that's not the case. I switched off before half-time.
More like Centennial Mutant Pc Ninja Turtles
Thank god I'm a character focused reader/watcher because the plot was kinda @ss. I loved everything else. The art style is creative and just so fun to look at. The characters are incredible; the turtles actually speak and act like 13/14 year old teenagers and it's so much fun to watch them explore and train and do dumb teenager things. I love their little character quirks and how they've been translated into 2023. The casting is fantastic. The pop culture references make sense. Ofc Donnie is a BTS fan, it feels correct. Splinter is just so sweet in this, so loving and protective. The soundtrack is great. There's so much here to enjoy and love.
So then why did we settle on this uninspired disney channel @ss plot about how the turtles just want to be normal teens and go to school? Why did we for the nth time decide to turn the oppressed into the villains and have the oppressors help "save the day" after they realise that the freaks they shunned can be useful to them?
I love TMNT. I love how dynamic this franchise is, how every generation of turtles changes the storyline a little bit, how there is so much freedom in creating their universe. And I love these four guys, in their childish naivety and their playfulness. However, this story? It's a no from me. TMNT imo always had so many fascinating concepts they've discussed. The environmentalism angle was right there! It's timely, it's something to care about and it'd show that the creators actually had something to say. They almost had something here with a racism allegory but took the disney cop-out with "yes, discrimination is wrong, but you know what's worse? when the people we discriminate against actually fight back. they're the real evil." It's so transparent and so tired. Leave it in the past and actually create new stories. Not recycle every teen movie ever but make four of them green. Enough.
Still a great movie with such a good soundtrack and style. Excited for the sequel.
A great film, incredible animation with even better action scenes. The story is good and the characters are very interesting. While the world of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is presented a little differently, this doesn't detract from the film in any way, it just offers a new approach.
I do miss (spoiler), but this is an amazing reimagining of the turtles with a jaw-dropping art style. The sound track was also spot on. Definitely worth the price of admission.
Wow that was a super duper woke ass movie made for the modern audience. You’ll be able to pass time but don’t expect anything great. If you want to watch a non-woke version, go see the ordinal animation or the live action movies.
I guess this is what’s to come in the near future; wokafie every great franchise / old movie / tv show.
A solid movie! As many have mentioned, the animation is incredibly charming and fun to watch. Also, like many have said, it's a great representation of modern teenagers, this to an annoying degree even. The amount of pop culture references they were able to shove in here was wild. Because of this The Turtles are more like teenagers, and ultimately I was not a fan of that (I grew up watching the more mature turtles on 4kids), but it was overall a great story with lovable characters embodied by a perfect voice cast.
Such good animation, soundtrack and overall emotional journey
No and no, the old turtles are much better, the way that this movies are going on in this moment, are just a bullshit
Man, it is with great sadness that I say that this film is bad.
I can see that there are positive ideas in the film. The assertive casting choice, especially Jackie Chan and Ice Cube, is brilliant. And the art direction literally carries the film. However, in terms of the script - My God, what happened here? The story is confusing and full of holes. And the jokes? Half of them don't work. I was left with the impression that nothing was planned except the art direction.
Anyway, it's sad to see work wasted
This is entirely not what I wanted out of a new TMNT movie, but it’s really rad and shares a similar style to the Spider-Verse movies! Will definitely be watching this one frequently.

Before this movie, I only knew bits and pieces of the Ninja Turtles Franchise. After seeing Mutant Mayhem, this film not only became one of my favorite movies of 2023, but it also managed to transform me into a Mega Ninja Turtles fan who is curious about what else the franchise has in store. That is how much I adored it. It has a youthful and colorful story that brings a new perspective to our ninja turtles characters. Character arcs are well thought out, and personalities are as big and bold as their voice cast. The animation is heavily inspired by movies like Into the Spiderverse and The Mitchells Vs the Machinces to create a unique style that not only pays tribute to the Turtle’s comic origins but also gives the franchise a much-needed visual facelift. Let‘s also not forget that the music score is stellar as Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross create fresh new music compositions that are modern but also very fun and lively. I have some problems with how the movie ends, but that is only a minor nitpick in the grand scheme of how great this movie truly is. Fans of the Ninja Turtle franchise and newbies will all have so much fun. This is one of the best movies Nickelodeon has ever put out, and it makes me hope for another great Ninja Turtles movie in the form of a sequel to this brilliant film.
(Final Grade: A-)
The animation style really carries this movie. There's some changes to characters like instead of the usual Donny being into April suddenly it's Leonardo that's into her which is kinda weird. There's also some changes to the origin story like instead of Splinter being some ninja master that get's turned into a rat-man he's a rat that gets turned into a humanoid
I do enjoy the turtles and them actually acting like teenagers for once tho
fat doesn't always mean ugly
It's refreshing to watch a film that actually encapsulates teenager behavior. All the hormones, anxieties and pop culture fixations that comprise that formative time in our lives was captured so well. A lot of love went into this film and it shows.
terrible muddled nincompoop tedium: mishmash madness
Starting from visuals: insane artstyle and awsome animation!
Storywise, it's definitely directed to children, but it's pretty good still.
Really liked it!
So much energy, such care for the style, such lovable characters!
I wasn't expecting this from a TMNT movie. While not completely groundbreaking, this movie was a joy to watch. It's the first time I really feel the "teenage" aspect of the Turtles and I really enjoyed this revision of their origins. Sure, it's targeted to a young audience primarly, but it's not dumb (although a little silly) and you can feel the love and care from the people who made this.
Lovely turtles movie filled with youth imo
With amazing creative choices in regards to the score and animation, positively all over the place and very sketch-like, this movie really made me smile a lot.
Also liked the story. Wished for a bit more of depth and length but understandable for a childrens/teens movie.
Definitely a comfort watch for me. 9/10
A great fun reboot of TMNT that is geniunely fresh in every aspects. From the cast chemistry, story, soundtrack, everything. And the Turtles act and talk like young teenagers for once. Not Adults dressed in Turtles cosplay.
A very enjoyable reboot of the TMNT franchise. Possibly the best version I have seen. They got the humour, vibe, and voice casting just right.
What an absolutely stunning and fresh animation style! Looks like they all got pulled straight out of crayon drawings, with all their imperfections. Finally something interesting to look at, the visuals are truly amazing!
The story is good, nothing groundbreaking, lot of loose ends and the constant pop culture references got annoying really fast, but all in all I really enjoyed myself with this movie.
An enjoyable reimagining of the TMNT franchise. While I do prefer other versions of them, that's not to say this one is bad. This movie still has a lot of funny moments, and it is still a great watch for people who are fans of TMNT.
If you like the graphic design, this movie will like the image quality textures is excellent, although the plot is more or less .. but I imagne I loved it ... I recommend it.
:heart:x7
Pretty good. The turtles are finally behaving more like teenagers in this movie. The animation is very stylized - similar to the Spider-verse movies. Overall, it is an enjoyable movie. Pretty sure most TMNT fans will enjoy it.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
The vilain is the funniest character for sure
Thanks to the Spiderverse movies, the animation genre has become much more versatile. The somewhat dated "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" franchise is now also benefiting from this. The latest film, "Mutant Mayhem," looks really fantastic and, above all, unique. There is so much to discover in every frame that it is impossible to catch everything in one viewing. In terms of storytelling, the film is also quite compelling. For the first time, you really get the feeling that the Turtles are actually teenagers. The young voice actors all do their jobs quite well. The rest of the cast is also convincing. I was particularly taken with Jackie Chan as Splinter. Not only does the action legend lend his voice to the rat, but he also clearly inspired the fighting style of the Turtles' "father."
I do have to make a few deductions in my rating in the end, though. While the introduction of the characters and the world works really well, the film lost me in the last act. There, the focus is far too much on action, which gets boring pretty quickly. The strengths of the film definitely lie elsewhere. I did, however, enjoy the ending, which promises an exciting new direction for the characters in the already-announced sequel. I would definitely welcome more Turtles movies in this style.
Rated a Connor 10, normal 9
This movie is a ton of fun, it may have been my little to no expectations but this might actually be 4/5 stars. The turtles feel like teens in all of the fun and annoying right ways, they keep it simple and it works.
Shout by CyborgBlockedParent2023-09-21T01:06:16Z
not worth watching. they have completely ruined the turtles.
