"Company's turning 20, huh? So you can bang it but you can't get it drunk."
Hard not to laugh during this. Jokes are flying a million miles a minute and some don't land but so many do and by the end of the movie I actually cared about this teddy bear.
A sometimes heartfelt movie, ruined by Seth MacFarlane doing Seth MacFarlane.
Watching the trailer I rolled my eyes at the talking bear because it's the same schtick we see in everything MacFarlane does. However, I held out hope that the movie would somehow transcend his usual output, and it often does. There's a story here worth seeing is it wasn't for the writing falling back on the same 10 jokes we've been seeing in every episode of Family Guy (and the two Family Guy clones) since it debuted. It just isn't funny anymore.
Ted
Not much to say about this movie. A nice movie to watch with friends on a night out, but nothing special. Some of the jokes are a little too forced and some of the scenes are unnecessary and unfunny, but otherwise, if you want a laugh, it's the right movie.
And then there's Mila Kunis. I fucking love her.
5/10
Extremely funny, what an adventure this movie was, definetely in my top 100 in favourite movies, 10/10!
One of my best comedy !
Absolutely a fabulous movie! Good idea with a twist of that special something!
May be one of the greatest comedies of all time. The premise of this film child like but in R version with a teddy bear coming to life is just brilliant. If you are one for racist and slap dick comedy this movie is for you. But it also does a nice job of tending to the heart as there are some ups and downs in this film as it makes the audience fall in love with the bond of the main characters. But even in the most serious scenes there are some jokes that make you belly laugh.
This film was really hilarious! Never have I laughed so much during a film at the theater before. Ted has what you would expect from an adult comedy - raunchy fun. Seth MacFarlane did a great job on his first big screen film. Besides its great points, I felt like the ending was a little weak and it was somewhat predictable but I guess all films are now; still a solid good comedy to watch.
Some funny lines buried under the vulgarity and the idiocy. Not my kind of humor, i wish I had not seen this.
One of the worst comedies I've ever seen. It was just so childish that it was hard to watch it. I mean the main character is like taken from a bad Disney movie, needing all sorts of help in life. And his main buddy, a teddy bear, is talking about dicks and weed all day and is generally only annoying. Is that supposed to be funny? Talking about cocks and drugs? It's like a childrens movie with random profanity tossed in here and there. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
It's a movie for people who like family guy and American dad, same type of jokes, if you don't like those you won't like this movie
Trash
Incredibly annoying and unbelievably vulgar. Didn't enjoy my time at all.
Some good one liners but overall quite boring... Maybe I'm getting to old for this kind of movie...
I thought it would be more amusing to watch, but yeah - the beginning was funny. That's about it.
Overhayped Movie - not realy funny. 4/10
Very funny; loved Ted saying "Oh, come on! I don't sound that much like Peter Griffin."
Actually a lot of very funny one-liners in this.
Good stuff, will watch again.
More or less a rehash of family guy jokes with a bigger budget, where Ted is Brian.
I really expected more. 5/10
Finally a really funny movie.
Obviously it's a comedy. It doesn't aspire to be anything more (I hope it didn't try to be a romcom). Problem: I didn't laugh a lot. If they tried to make a romcom: it wasn't romantic. Maybe it was a good idea on paper to have a talking stuffed animal and he's cute (just as cute as Wahlberg and Kunis) but the longer I watched this movie the less I liked it. I don't understand how there's a second movie. Only thing I liked: "Jeffrey Winger". That's exactly how I picture him after graduating from Community college.
I don't know why but the movie's structure and theme reminds me a lot of Superbad. Superbad is hilarious though.
After hearing good things about the new prequel TV series, I decided to go back and watch the movies in preparation. I saw the original back when it came out and never got around to the sequel (I think because I heard it wasn't that great). The clever premise does most of the heavy lifting, with plenty of humor to be extracted by the reliable work of Wahlberg and MacFarlane. That said, I was surprised at how dated some of the humor feels. Even in 2012 a lot of these jokes probably would have caused discomfort for certain audience members. I suspect the offensive humor was largely intentional, but that's a dangerous game to play and a decade later things that were once riding the line now feel well beyond it. In the end, I definitely don't think the movie lives up to the 8/10 score that I gave it originally. Probably would give it a 6 today, but I'll average the two for a 7.
Don't expect much. Just a comedy movie for a decent movie night.
The man is so diors, other part of this movie is quite good
" Now if there's one thing you can be sure of, it's that nothing is more powerful than a young boy's wish. Except an Apache helicopter. An Apache helicopter has machine guns AND missiles. It is an unbelievably impressive complement of weaponry, an absolute death machine."
It has been 8 years since I've last seen Ted? Can't believe it held up as much as it did for me. Totally forgot about the Ryan Reynolds cameo, such a laugh out loud moment. The humor hits me, I even had to held back the tears when Ted sacrificed his friendship with Johnny for Johnny's relationship with Lori. Maybe it was because I so damn tired at the moment but I believe it was because I was totally sucked into this movie.
Mila Kunis is still one that makes every movie more enjoyable for me. It is just something about her and Marky Mark is great in here and we all know Seth MacFarlane's voice acting!
Anyway still love the Thunderbuddies song, still love FLASH GORDON AAAHAAA, still love the ending, Ted is still such an over the top characters but apparently I can't get enough of it!
Extremely funny, not boring was very very very funny, the last scene with ted climbing the lader with Donny and destroy ted was very sad but the movie is very good
MARK Fucking Wahlberg I Love You !!!!!!
This is the Best Movie Ever its so fucking funny !!
I was laughing so hard at 4 A.M. my landlord kicked me out of the house, I think its worth it !
A disgusting movie. Waste of time
If your not used to Seth comedy, ypu will find this very vulgarities and hilarious. If you are used to it, still vulgar and funny, but not as great.
The only really good thing about this movie is Mila Kunis (and the chemistry with Mark Wahlberg)... and ok the cameos here and there. But other then that... so-so. This type of humor is not my thing.
Watched it on Amazon Instant TV and I thought the first half was really funny but then it went south somehow. Cannot point the finger to what exactly it was I didn't like about the second half, but I kind of found it rather boring.
While not a bad movie, I most probably won't be watching it again.
can't get tired of it,very funny movie.
"Ted" is as engaging as it is clever, funny and ridiculous.
How do i play this shit? -,-
Not the best movie, but the cameos and one-liners help. Giovanni Ribis dancing to Tiffany was the standout moment of the movie, right ahead of Patrick Warburton and Ryan Reynolds kissing.
As with the rest of SM's body of work, his humor is incredibly hit or miss with me. There were some great laughs here, but overall the movie was just alright.
Favorite laughs:
1. LOOK WHAT JESUS DID.
2. Cleaning up hooker shit.
3. Pretty much everything to do with Sam Jones.
Honorable mention goes to Ryan Reynolds turning up twice and not having a single line of dialogue.
Great laughs from! Not kid-safe though as it might look ;-) ahha
Great laughs from! Not kid-safe though as it might look ;-) ahha
I agree that it's overhyped. It had a few minor laughs like just about any comedy, but not a "great" movie. I like Wahlberg in some movies, but he's just not a funny guy. Ever see him in an interview? He's about as exciting as a Wooden Indian.
One of the best stoner movies! Seen it 4 times and enjoyed every time :)
Just a bad movie. I love Seth McFarlane's personality in real life, on the oscars, on Family Guy, etc. but this movie was just bad. And I normally can enjoy potty-mouth drug-induced humor.
not really funny, but it's not bad
This will never be among the best films created, but I think the CGI was great.
Got tricked into watching this by a pretty good imdb rating.
I expected a lot more from that movie.
It starts as a parody of a christmas movie. The 10 first minute are pretty boring, then it really starts, but soon you realize, it is an actual christmas movie, only with some blokes cursing and getting high. I guess this works for some, but it's pretty weak overall and barely got me to smile.
Guess you need to watch this drunk or not at all.
Snore. Would rather watch reruns of family guy or American dad than watch this again.
The first hour is funny
Kinda Hollywood love story where you know exactly how its gonna be to turned out: Boyfriend has to decide between best friend and girl friend -> Girl friend doesen t like at the beginning the best friend (Ted) -> boyfriend decides to like his girl friend more -> boyfriend realizes that he misses his best friend -> something action based gonna happen -> Girl friend likes best friend now -> all three are happy together. bla bla.
well yay. the best friend is a speaking teddy bear. wow.
.-/
The funniest movie I have seen in ages. Watch it with friends - laughter is best shared. :)
Excellent. Really funny
over rated indeed, was expecting more.
I was expecting for more =/
I thought it would be better
I´m with c0br4 on this. overrated Movies...
Extremely funny movie, I highly recommend it!
the first movie that really makes me laugh
This is brill, not for watching with the kids though!
This looks really funny!

Ted is THE poster child for the fact that every great concept doesn't automatically become a guaranteed winning project once it leaves the drawing board. This movie SCREAMS "Here's a great idea, but we just didn't know what to do with it." Whether it was because of lack of imagination or too many tokes on the community bong, nobody will ever know.
Having a movie about a real-live Teddy Bear existing in the every day life of a 30-something underachiever sounds like a winning formula. However after the first few moments, the movie stalls, the dialog gets stale quickly and the majority of the story revolves around Ted getting high and/or trying to bang shallow, attractive women (even though Hasbro didn't include on him full, working equipment) while the main character tries to balance his 4-year ongoing relationship with a woman completely out of his league and his life-long Thunder Buddy (Ted).
Lewd, crude and rude, Ted does little to entertain beyond the limited soph-moronic humor. Unless you are a rabid fan of Family Guy or the 80s Flash Gordon, live in or around the Boston area or think it's funny to hear the F-word every other second, this one won't be for you.
