Spawn 1997

This movie didnt age well AT ALL! Everything is over the top and the CG is so atrocious, I'd rather watch a fully rendered CG lawnmower man movie with the existing technology they had back then than this.

This is just a terrbile movie.

I'm not a huge Spawn fan, I have some Spawn comics from the 90's and I think they're ok. Even so, this movie was a huge letdown and such a kick in the face. The writing is a mess, the story is all over the place, execution was awful. I just hope the new movie that'll come out approaches the source material in a good way.
The only good criticism at the time was the CGI cape, I remember everyone going "whoa the cape looks awesome", but I don't know if it aged well since I haven't seen the movie since it's release.

Spawn deserved to be a great movie, but it was crippled by some bad: CGI, acting, and dialog.
One of the earliest comic-book movies, this just had the bad luck of coming out before Deadpool (2016) showed that an R-rating wasn't a death sentence.
The movie isn't all bad, it has all the '90s action one could want, trouble is it's held back by the PG-13 rating.
Depending on how you feel about John Leguizamo, his performance as Clown is either going to make or break the film for you. I thought he was great. Yes, you're going to get fart jokes.
Aside from the aforementioned flaws, the movie just gets so boring by the end. I can handle bad CGI, provided I'm invested in the story, which I was not.
I'd put this up there with the two Mortal Kombat movies. Such a disappointment. It deserved better.

I forgot how much of a dumbass Simmons is. Wow is he stupid.

The writing and directing are just awful. The way some scenes are shot and put together is almost unwatchable.

John Leguizamo is fantastic, though.
