Holy shit this movie is so bad. Such a waste of time. Avoid at all cost.

Great movie.

When I watched this movie, it was in an arthouse theater. We walked in twenty minutes late, and were totally lost. I thought that watching the bit that I'd missed would make the movie make sense. I was wrong.

Catch if it's on cable, otherwise read a book.

Wow - this is definitely an interesting movie. Not a good movie but interesting. After watching it, I found out there's a 160-minute version out there - I might try to find and watch that one as it should flesh out more of the story. Visually it's quite a stunning movie. Not to mention that they seem to somehow get almost every big name B-list actor into this movie.

Five years after the Donnie Darko, Richard Kelly follows up that masterpiece with group sects you wouldn't touch with your 10-inch pole.

Southland Tales is the kind of film where you hold onto the thread as long as you can but eventually just give up on to trim your toe nails.

I said I watched it but I actually couldn't finish it. It was a disaster of a movie! Terribly written! How so many named actors ended up in it I'll never know.

Richard Kelly's Southland Tales is an insanely bizarre and macabre film with Lynchian undertones. An actor named Boxer Santaros goes on a ride-along with a LAPD cop to research a screenplay that he's writing, but events lead Santaros to believe that his screenplay isn't as fictional as he thought and that reality isn't what it seems. The plot is incoherent; full of meaningless tangents that go nowhere and that don't service the main storyline. However, the film is given a certain level of charisma by all of the rich and interesting characters. Additionally, the casting is exceptional, featuring Dwayne Johnson, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Seann William Scott, Mandy Moore, and Justin Timberlake. But, Kelly's ultraliberal political agenda hijacks the film and makes a mess out of everything. Though there are moments of brilliance, Southland Tales tries to do too many things and ends up doing none of them well.

First time I saw the movie's poster ( actors and actresses, their countenance, movie's name and it's font, I was like 'is this porn? what?'. Then I realized, even porns have better posters.

Southland Tales (2006) on Showtime; I forgot all about this movie. I remember choosing to watch it mainly for Mandy Moore, back when I was curious about her presence in films <3 then surprised by the amount of familiar faces that also appeared in it; now seeing it again today, Rebecca del Rio (Mulholland Drive, Twin Peaks) performs in it too, also LOL @ Eli Roth the "Man who gets Shot on Toilet"
