Sound of Freedom 2023

The fact that the main stream media is telling you not to watch this movie tells you everything you need to know — it's a must watch for everyone!

Horrifying that this is actually happening in the world. And mind boggling that more people are affected by slavery now than when it was legal.

It also sickens me that they had to battle for 5 years for this film to be shown.

loading replies

It's an objectively well made and well acted movie that I really enjoyed. The plot is well structured, fast paced, and dialog well written.

It has the moral imperative to end sex trafficking but it's not through heavy handed guilt tripping, but through telling a true story about a man who made personal sacrifices to do the right thing and courageously go into danger to be a genuine hero. I think anyone who has any sense of altruism will leave this movie inspired to take action against this truly heinous evil that is real and happening now. Go see this movie.

More than just a well-made movie, this is a critically important piece of cinema that you must see and share with others.

We need more movies like this. Anyone who is a parent knows what people should do to pedophiles of any kind.

MODERATION EDIT: There was no need for the unproven accusations.

Great story and beautiful photography, but terrible script and direction

loading replies

This movie should be in the front trending page. for some reason is not even on the top pages.

Movie was great and sad. The acting was good, cinematographic was good and the story was excellent. Tim and his wife are people that we don't see everyday. "Not all heroes wear capes". Hard to believe that this thing happens everywhere including the states. I have kids and never leave them alone.

I recommend this movie to everybody and also his interview with Jordan. look for it in Youtube.

I only had one question.. where is the mom of the two kids? I don't recall explaining what happened to her.

loading replies

This movie just showed the world how much our society is corrupted. People are badly reviewing the movie alleging that it is far-right propaganda when it doesn't even try to talk about politics, it's a problem that is universal across ALL the political spectrums, CHILD TRAFFIC. Even if it exaggerates somehow in its narrative, what I don't think applies to the movie, the topic is important and should not be neglected.

MODERATION EDIT: Don't offend other users.

Extremely "loosely" based on a real person, so pretty much made up garbage, with the typical Q conspiracy crap when there's real issues to be addressed. Nonsense movies like this take the focus from legitimate trafficking issues and turn into conspiracy theories BS so that the nut jobs can ignore fixing real problems.

And while other actors do bad movies, why is every right wing nut job actor always picking this conspiracy theory crazy shit? We can get bat shit crazy from relatives and friends that went down that absurd rabbit hole. Every right wing nut insists on playing right wing nut shit.

Imagine if Tom Cruise only did movies pushing Scientology... no one would give a shit and he would be a nobody. Welcome to this shit show movie.

0/10. Shitty, made up, preachy conspiracy theory garbage.

loading replies

One of the most shamelessly manipulative piece of propaganda that I've seen in a long time.
The characters are one dimensional and the villains so cartoon-y. Don King? C'mon... The accidental pedophile that was going to kill himself but saw the light after a message from god? LOL.
When the third act started, I thought it was going to turn into Rambo III. It was more like First Blood.
People are being overly emotional because of the subject matter. The movie itself is just not worth the hysteria.
The epilogue should be updated to add that Tim Ballard is a pervert

July 16, 2023 Original Post:
Watched it today in theaters. I can't come up with words that will give this movie justice. The movie never shows anything graphic or too hard to watch. It lets your imagination fill in the gaps (which is more graphic imo) but you can take your 13+ kid and you wouldn't have to cover their eyes.

Edit: Changed the Rating from a 9 to a 10. I'm still thinking about this movies message a few hours after.

Edit July 17, 2023: This movie stayed with me, even while trying to sleep. It kept me up at night. The last time a movie did that to me was when I was 12 watching "IT" in a hospital alone and didn't know how to change the channel. The message is strong, but the movie is a must watch.

loading replies

Sound of Freedom is more painful than repetitive kicks to the groin for 131 minutes; but the beating is valuable. Change does not happen without awareness. This film has a message that must be felt and highlights a problem that needs to be solved. See this movie and do something to help.

loading replies

Movie itself was pretty good, well made, not fear mongering in my opinion. Story was good too.

loading replies

"The movie was finished in 2018, but it would take years to release as the filmmakers were turned down by various distributing companies as they didn't want the film associated with their output, such as Netflix." (Source: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7599146/trivia/?item=tr6956051&ref_=ext_shr_lnk) <-- This says a lot about the despicable people who are running the world today doesn't it?

loading replies

Unlike many, I went into the theater to see this movie with no primer. The only message I got from this movie was "God does not like child sex trafficking and we should do something about it", and I still don't know what this movie was trying to say other than that, because quite frankly, I don't care. I've heard the lead actor Jim Caviezel is connected to the whole QAnon conspiracy craze, and I feel like that's the only reason he felt the need to add the post-credit ticket mutual aid section to the film, because while it's important to understand the importance of issues like child sex trafficking, I do not understand why else the American political right-wing would latch onto this movie other than if there was some hint in the movie they agreed with that just I didn't get that was connected to the right wing media's obsession with covering this movie and supporting it. My father made me go see it before I left home for college. That's the only reason I went to see it. It's an okay movie, but I wouldn't give it a score any higher than a 5/10.

loading replies

Lasted 4 minutes. I can tell this one is going to be too intense for me. I could sleep on a bed of nails but why would I?

loading replies

This the 4th time I cried watching a mobie, in my whole life. This movie shouls be shown in every school, every university, every theater for free. This is an actual story of kindness prevailing over evil. Arm yourself with courage and watch it cuz it ain't an easy one. And for those saying that savung children and turn the spotlight on a matter like this is far right propaganda, are THE SOULLESS SCUM OF THE EARTH and they are part of the problem. Hearing ppl talking about this movie will allow us to see which of the ppl around us have souls and who don't. RATE 10/10

loading replies

The movie is pretty good, if slightly overrated. There are some pacing issues in the first half that make it feel 30 to 40 minutes longer than it is, but the only way it'll knock your socks off is emotionally, because of the heaviness of the subject matter. There are no Qanon conspiracy theories or any craziness like that in the film itself, just a fine (if somewhat embellished/compiled) story about rescuing children from sex trafficking. Both the acting and cinematography are impressive, which exceeded my expectations because both are better than in The Chosen, Angel Studios' other major project, which has even higher ratings and reviews.

This is certainly a heavy watch for obvious reasons, so this isn't gonna be the film you're gonna wanna rewatch too soon after seeing it the first time, but it'll probably stick with you more than anything else you see in theaters this year.

Great story, performances, and cinematography. A bit heavy-handed and clumsy at times, but that didn't stop me from crying my eyes out. We need more movies like this, about things that actually matter.

Edit: People are so weird. I'm glad I was able to enjoy this movie without knowing about all the controversy.

Is child sex trafficking real? Obviously.
Is this a documentary? Obviously not.
If we can appreciate Marvel and Mission Impossible, why can't we also appreciate this movie about a hero risking his life to save innocent people from a terrible fate?
Obviously the movie is not fully factual. But that's just Hollywood. Movies like Argo and The Social Network take liberties with their source material, but I don't see anyone complaining.
Caviezel and Ballard may have some crazy views. But I don't see why that should affect my appreciation of this movie.
If you still can't give this movie a chance, obviously that doesn't mean you're a pedophile. But I do question your ability to look past your political views in order to empathize with others.

I went to see this with friends as their movie choice and didn’t look into or hear anything about it other than the basic plot. Without looking into any controversy around it, I thought the film was good. I’m sure it’s a typical Hollywood version of a true story with stretches of truth but it was well acted.

Wow, freedom-of-speech-loving QAnon snowflakes were so butthurt that they mass-reported my previous comment after receiving the most likes because it exposed their cult.

This sensationalist piece of far-right propaganda is actually harming with its lies the real victims of human trafficking, most of which are aged 15-17 and/or LGBTQ runaways, not kidnapped pre-adolescent children as the film suggests.

Well acted (by a Q-anon nut job actor), based on real person and events (barely), piece of MAGA right wing conservative trash, nonetheless an entertaining/horrifying watch on a horrible subject.

loading replies

I don't know what worries me more... The subject of the movie... Or the fact I see comments saying it's propaganda like child trafficking isn't real.

It's legitimate worrying people are down rating a movie that's at least daring to tackle a sensitive topic.

Is it a masterpiece piece? No.
Was it a solid 6 or 7 /10? Yes.

Film 41 (Goal: 300) of 2024

Sound of Freedom brings the awful world of child sex trafficking to the forefront, in a well told story regarding Homeland Security Agent Tim Ballard's quest to not just capture the pedophiles but to recover and safe the children. After saying one kid, Tim makes finding his sister (who is still missing) a priority, and in the process finds ways to potentially save many more children.

As I said, it's a well made film. The first 45 minutes I found really difficult just due to the subject matter. I've seen plenty of films with difficult subjects but this one was directed well, getting to me in a way other films haven't. Jim Caviezel does a good job in the lead role, and is believable in his motivations to save one more kid. Something to note, is that this is a very loose story. Allegations have come out about the real Tim Ballard that are not touched on in this film. Other than that aspect, I was able to really enjoy Sound of Freedom for what it was, and for shining more light on an evil industry.

loading replies

lots of pedos in the comments. these are the people who contribute to the rise in crimes against children. "propaganda" is trying to disprove facts with lies which is about 40% of the comments. this movie should be used as a psa. our elected officials should spend billions on ending sex trafficking not on Ukraine. wake up people, it's time we start protecting of future better

loading replies

A great eye oper for me, in a fact checked movie, that im sure has been toned down fir an audience can't even imagine what these kids went through and hope to God I never have to deal with something to that effect...

loading replies

It actually feels kinda weird to give such a high rating to a movie that portraits this subject. The chills went up my spine from the moment they took pictures of these kids. As a father of a 14 yo girl I shouldn't be surprised that some tears were running down my face and am still having a twisted gut feeling. Guess I'm not going to bed anytime soon.
Everyone should be watching this movie and be prepared for a Rollercoaster of emotions.

loading replies

The subject matter aside, the execution of the film was lackluster. Watch Taken, or a handful of other films instead.

loading replies

I wasn’t sure I could watch this movie because of my own childhood trauma, but it takes an incredibly important topic, that needs public attention, and sensitively tells it with care of its audience. Child Sex Trafficking is the #1 most lucrative global crime of our time, and the most hidden from public outcry. This movie anchors the telling in one man’s passion for not only catching the perpetrators but rescuing their victims. Its aim is not to shine the spotlight on heroics but to expose the insidious evil at its core. It is told with passion and outrage. Jim Caviezel and Bill Camp are perfectly cast and their characters are anchors for the drama. The heart of the film, though, is rooted in the wonderful performances of José Zúñiga, Cristal Aparicio and Lucás Ávila, who play, respectively, a father of stolen children, his 11 year old daughter and an 8 year old son. Because it is so important to raise public awareness of this evil right under our noses, I give this film a 9 (important) out of 10. [Crime, Action, Drama]

This is complete garbage propoganda based on things that never happened. And NO!!! MAGATS I am not a pedo, but pushing a narrative that is based on complete lies shows the ignorance of how people fall prey to cultism. Enjoy your cult; I am very happy this piece of trash didn't make it to any streaming platform.

loading replies

Reading some comments here and you loose faith in humanity.
What is the propaganda here ? what are you people talking about ? who cares if the "based on a true story" is so tru or not accurate.
Yes the theme of the movie by default will probably, probably touch you, or you can ginve an 1 and talk about propaganda crap (again what?!) .

The movie broke my soul. Fantastic music, absolutely fantastic music score, Tim was awesome, the direction was really good, for hard stomachs and not for stupid people.

loading replies

The film addresses an important topic in the worst way possible. It is a story that uses the manipulation of emotions with outstanding impudence, that is not afraid of falling into Manichaeisms and even representations with a certain racist tone (American white man saves poor Latino children). In its favor it has an excellent soundtrack by the Spanish composer Javier Navarrete, who provides with more honesty the religious background of the proposal, and a certain dark western tone that provides some elegance to the story. It is a missed opportunity that is harmed by the absolute dedication to a protagonist that is too flat.

Watching Sound of Freedom increased my hatred for the damn leftists.

loading replies

Amazing how many nay sayers believe this film to be propaganda and with other political agendas. Also read several comments about portraying the blonde haired white doll as good and everyone else as bad. Let’s get real, this is just a glimpse of what is actually going on in the real world that everyone is oblivious to across the globe. To put it to all the American disbelievers complaining propaganda because you only ever cry political reasons for things, may I present to you Jeffery Epstein and wait for it…..P Diddy. So pull your heads out of your asses and stop being complete delusional morons to this as a real world problem happening across the globe.

loading replies

Here is more proof that sound of freedom is fake and egaterated. Sounds like something that douche from Project Veritas would do; we know he fakes and edits videos to make it seem like he discovered something; when in actuality it's fake news and full of conspiracy theories; for you Magats out there a conspiracy theory is not truth or factual. https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/sound-of-freedom-tim-ballard-angel-studios-lawsuit-1234974841/

loading replies

It was a good movie, but to be honest; not that different from ones like Taken. The only two differences are the ages of the kidnapped and the fact that this is an actual true story. So, what is really worrying is why has it shaken up so much the media? The movie doesn't target any person, institution or group of people in the US for example; all the "bad guys" are foreigners in central and south America. So, why the directives to bomb review and give bad press to the movie? We all know the answer, but is truly worrying

loading replies

it was hard to watch ... it did break me apart seeing all that awefull stuff happening...
great movie great acting .

loading replies

Great movie that shines a light on this horrible business in a very compelling way. Outstanding performance by Cristal Aparicio. No mention of conspiracy theories so ignore the reviewers that claim otherwise. Stay to the end for some documentary footage.

loading replies

But how many times did I breakdown watching this film?

loading replies

Watching this is a roller coaster of rage and hope. Very confronting topic. What’s truly horrifying is so many out there attempting to discredit the events of this film. Clearly flying too close to the mark. I hope someone looks into each and one of them.

loading replies

I need to take something out of the way first: Eduardo Verastegui and Mel Gibson (producers) are definitely NOT on my nice list. Their religious agenda will always be too obvious, and quite honestly, I was expecting it in this film.

That said, I must admit that this film is very well done! They kept the religious bullsh*t to the bare minimum. What matters here is the story and the performances, which I can say are STELLAR! The movie was made to BREAK… YOUR… HEART.

It’s sad yet full of hope. And the kids did an amazing job. My kudos to them! Seeing their eyes filled with such innocence and sadness was gut wrenching.

Seriously, everyone must go to the theater and see this film.

loading replies

After all the Qanon controversy building this film up, I have no choice but to feel disappointed that the film in fact DOESN'T go into that topic. There's absolutely zero implication of powerful American figures being involved and actually only centers on Mexicans. I mean, imagine how much better the film would be if it went full Clinton family adrenochrome but it's literally such a neutral movie. I don't get what propoganda people think this is pushing. Are we simply not even allowed to talk about child trafficking in general just because the democratic party is involved with it. People are actually so stupid. It's probably the most important subject to spread awareness about right now. The actual film was also kinda disappointing - it's certainly good but I didn't like the way it was directed and edited (too many close-ups and fades). It also feels very much like a b-movie (especially in the writing and pacing) which is fine but holds it back from becoming anything grand in my opinion.

God's children are indeed not for sale though. Amen to that.

loading replies

Great movie. Tim Ballard gave up a lot including the possibility of being killed to save these kids, but saving 150 total, out of millions ever year is just a drop in the bucket.

How about targeting the end-user like the Clintons, Bill Gates and Hollywood stars.. oh wait that wouldn't be very good. Although in no way connected to this film.. Epstein was arrested, but yet no one has even been investigated.. I'm pretty sure some of these kids went through his island.
