Is like it is like a modern-day Hammer film. Christopher Lee even makes an appearance!
Wasn't really sure what to expect with this film. Was pretty good, I didn't guess the twist at the end, so that's good.
The design and aesthetic of the film is exactly what you would expect from Tim Burton as is the plot and background to the characters - but it is the atmospheric, Gothic creepiness that leaves the biggest impression and makes it worth watching. Beyond that. there is very little here that surprises. Depp’s character is entertaining as the reluctant detective, and whilst Ricci is fine, her character is pretty much reduced to a supporting love interest. The rest of the cast do what they can as potential suspects and targets for the horseman and at least the film doesn’t really outstay its welcome.
Not enough Christopher Walken. It's fine but nothing special. Some of the effects are good.
Disappointing (horror?) thriller by Tim Burton: while the general plot is not too bad, it is never intriguing and the plot twists are no good as well. All in all a "typical Burton freak show" that even Johnny Depp's appearance can't safe...

Love all movies from the Golden Age of Tum Burton. 10/10 for Sleepy Hollow. One of my favourites.
Sleepy Hollow is one of Tim Burton's best films as well as one of Johnny Depp's best. This is a must watch around the Halloween season. The Rotten Tomatoes reviews should be much higher.
Critics say it is good but not one of Burton’s best, which it easily is. They have also said the flashbacks of Ichabob’s mom were unnecessary. The flashbacks fit the movie fine. Since Ichabob is worried that Katrina will wind up like his mom. Since she too practices witchcraft.

Tim Burton's imaginative vision of the classic tale of Sleepy Hollow is easily one of my favorites. A timeless halloween fun with your typical over the top Burton's Gothic atmosphere. They succeeded to capture that October feeling with how the setting is designed. The trees in the dark are shaped in such a caroonish way. The amount of nightly mist surrounds the entire town and how shadows are pitchblack and uninviting.
This tale both tells a mystic Gothic story and a horror murder-mystery detective drama. It's definitely one of Johnny Depps better Tim Burton characters, but Christopher Walken as the Headless Horseman is such a good pick. He wont speak a word, but when he charges on a horse whealing a sword around, you know he's telling you that your head is now his.
Sleepy Hollow is a little silly. Character development is the biggest weakest, with Depp being the second. The atmosphere of the film is great, as is the production design. This movie is perfect for anyone wanting to dip a toe into the warm waters of horror.
Great movie.... Such well casted, had great time watching it.

A bit too Burton for me, and the plot isn't the most logically sound.
People sure did faint a lot at the turn of the 18th century.
I love the dark esthetic of this film! I saw it first in a drive in back in '99 and I think it held up on my '21 rewatch!
It's main pro is the cinematic dark esthetic. There are horror elements to it, but the humor dampens the intensity of it.
The atmosphere in this movie is outstanding

Nice and well made with dark atmosphere and good written.It combines horror,mystery,drama,humor and Burton does it well.

Tim Burton needs to get back to making actual horror movies because he is pretty good at them. The gore and effects in this were great, and younger Johnny Depp is awesome as a quirky new guy to the neighborhood. Oh, and Christopher Walken's teeth scared me as a kid and still creep me out.

From director Tim Burton comes a fresh and imaginative vision of the classic tale of Sleepy Hollow. In this version a young scientific minded inspector is sent to the small town of Sleep Hollow to investigate a series of murders, but soon ends up combating mystical and supernatural forces. The film has a strong cast that includes Johnny Depp, Christina Ricci, Miranda Richardson, and Christopher Walken; Depp in particular does a good job at creating a fun and interesting character. However, the story is deeply flawed and doesn’t have a clear focus. Yet, the artistic style of the film is impressive and visually compelling. Sleepy Hollow provides a daring and impressive vision, but it’s not a very cohesive one.

Agradable pelicula una de mis favoritas de Johnny Depp, y una de mis preferidas realizadas por Tim Burton, buena historia y buen guion. Mejor la forma de como se traza la línea de investigación en descubrir al culpable, la recomiendo.
Tim. Burton sabe verdaderamente trasmitir el "terror" en sus peliculas y este es un buen ejemplo.
Me encanta el personaje de JHony Deep ya que es un poquito rarito sin mencionar lo peculiar y miedoso que es, es una de las cosas mas buenas de la pelicula y la ambientación que es perfecta para Halloween.
