Sleepless made me very sleepy. Quite weak all the way around. Don't waste your time on this garbage of a movie.
Wow. This was awful. Great cast. Somehow they forgot to make it interesting. As far as storytelling goes this is a mess. Sometimes I wonder what script writers make in a year. Because I could have written this drunk on the back of a camel last spring and it would have made more sense.
Sleepless was a disappointing film that failed to live up to the expectations set by its previews. The story was underwhelming and lacked depth, leaving me feeling uninvested in the characters' journey. However, the movie did have some decent action scenes that had my attention at times. Despite this, it fell short of its potential and should have been a better film. Overall, the movie was a forgettable experience, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a satisfying action-thriller.
"Well, it ain't no easy grab! They got T!"

This film is an example of too many people having alarmingly high standards. That's fine. But to have an inflexible mentality because of it: No Bueno. It seems the majority hated it, and in my opinion, much more than it deserves. It's not that bad; no, it's not even that. All that tells me is that there are people who seemingly can't enjoy a film.
From what I've read, the screenplay is what has/had people in shambles, and maybe to a lesser extent: the film itself. I agree slightly with the former; the outlining could've been better. So what? It didn't ruin the enjoyment experience. As far as the film itself is concerned, I'm guessing it's because of being bored or not finding it enjoyable? That seems extreme, undoubtedly due to having alarmingly high standards.
I thought most of the performances were good, especially Jamie Foxx, but apparently, some people would disagree with that. Michelle Monaghan, Dermot Mulroney, Scoot McNairy, and Octavius J. Johnson's performances were good. The latter's performance was surprisingly decent. I was indifferent towards David Harbour and Gabrielle Union. And T.I. was undoubtedly the weak(est) link out of everyone, performance-wise; we can all agree on that, probably. The way he moved/walked seemed stiff, too.
I'd have liked it if the action was more prominent; I'm a sucker for action. But that by no means made the film less enjoyable. And the fight sequences were pretty decent; the choreography was nicely swift and impactful. I was a bit surprised by that. There weren't too many cuts/cuts that negatively impacted the understanding of what was going on, either.
The cinematography by Mihai Mălaimare Jr. and the direction by Baran bo Odar, especially the former, were surprisingly decent. But the score by Michael Kamm was a bit underwhelming; no score at all would've been worse, of course. So, it did its job, I suppose. I feel like a score more similar to the one in Law Abiding Citizen by Brian Tyler would've not only been more appropriate but also more immersive.
Lots of surprises, pretty much: the reception being unfavorable probably caused that. Lots of surprises other than the twist. I saw that coming from a mile away. Granted, I've seen this film before, which must've been before I started logging stuff as I didn't have it logged. Maybe even in 2017, a little while after the film's release, but probably a year or so afterward. I didn't remember the twist, though: I still saw it coming. I'm sure 99.9% of people did.
All that said, I enjoyed this film. I don't think it's underrated; it's not a hidden gem, although maybe it's a bit overly hated. I was entertained, which is an unpopular opinion. I can understand that the story could've been better written, but entertainment can be present regardless, and that was the case with this film.
(By the way, those end credits were pretty cool: the beginning of it/the visuals.)
Sean: "They said it was just gonna be a easy grab".
Vincent: "Well, it ain't no easy grab, they got T!"
Gotta love Ralphthemoviemaker.
Sleepless is basically black "Taken", but a poorly made version. It's a paper fin action movie with big name stars who acted so flat, especially from Jamie Foxx who's shockingly bad in this. Every line he mumbles and in the scenes when he either snaps or gets frustrated, it felt so held back.
Been there, done that type of movie.
Well it ain't no easy grab, THEY GOT T!!
Talented cast wasted in a terrible film. Punch yourself in the face for an hour. It'll still be better than this.
Cant Trust Anybody. Freaking Dirty Cops Tick Me Off
Foxx tries to save his son over and over again. Saves him and he’s taken more than once. While a pretty good supporting cast is wasted.
Think Michael Mann wannabe but straight to video quality. That will make you just want to watch a Michael Mann film instead.
Whole mess from beginning to end
What an odd film; I gave 6/10 which might be a little high actually - mainly for the nice shots of the Vegas skyline!
I'm confused to an extent; was he always undercover? I thought he was a dirty cop? Oh well, it all went badly wrong didn't it.
Film synopsis: shootout, chase, kidnapping, running around a bathroom and kitchen, chase, shootout, unsurprising double-cross, shootout, smiley glad-hand moment, open ending suggesting more corruption....
It would have been better if they built the profile of Down's better so that you understood him and his sacrifices; there wasn't really any characters to care about.
Messy, convoluted thriller. If it wasn't for the cast, this would have gone straight to DVD.
Terrible movie. They even made a Indian remake of the same story.
Imagine trying to read a book and forgetting what the last page said. This is how memorable this movie was to me and how bad the plot was. It was bad, like really really bad. But! Very typical action movie for those who like that.
Sleepless is a typical action movie that we've seen dozens of times in the past. There are a few decent action scenes and the cast are capable but the movie itself doesn't bring anything new or interesting to the table and there really aren't any characters that are likeable enough to root for.

This was quite bad. I'm usually pretty generous but this was a terrible mess. I do not recommend at all.
