"Sing 2" dazzles audiences with its captivating storytelling, finely crafted character arcs, and seamless plot progression. From start to finish, the film delivers everything one anticipates from an animated masterpiece. The blend of spectacle and heart is truly remarkable, drawing viewers into a world brimming with imagination and charm.
While the movie excels in many aspects, there's a lingering desire for deeper exploration, particularly regarding Calloway's story. A more in-depth dive into his character could have added layers of complexity and emotional depth, enriching the overall narrative and leaving a more profound impact on the audience. Despite this slight shortfall, "Sing 2" remains a delightful cinematic experience that entertains and inspires, leaving audiences longing for more.
I actually liked the first Sing because it felt so sincere from the characters' perspective (not Moon's, I still hate him). But this film just throws it all out the door aside from Johnny and Ash who have somewhat interesting personal stories but feel like rehashes from the previous one.
Sing 2 is great when it comes to its colourful visuals and of course the musical numbers. But falls flat in the story department and especially in its villain. It is just the first movie over again but with the villain just one-dimensional. There is no effort to even try to have the villain be slightly compelling or relatable to any degree and doesn't add any motivation besides typical greed. Boring.
While I did say the visuals are colourful and great, it lacks any creativity like any Illumination film with how it uses the shots. It feels so flat and relies on the characters to tell the story as it doesn't show. But like I said, the first film managed to do a good job with characters and their perspectives. Here it can't juggle all the plotlines going on. Even with it being so simple.
This movie is not good. But Taron Egerton is just superb in his role as Johnny so I can't fault it too hard.
4/10
I don't know why but I shed a tear when the audience sang along just before Clay Calloway got the courage to sing.
excellent movie .. I recommend for children :relaxed:
I'm a sucker for feel-good musicals with catchy songs.
The usual American animation film with anthropomorphic animals and the same plot over and over. Not only that, not being American myself the film does not work at all, because the pop songs played are completely unknown and not even interesting musically.
Amazing movie! Even better than the first one. I love the characters, the music and that there a lot of funny scenes. When Mrs. Crawley drove a Ferrari singing to System of a Down I could not contain myself! So funny.
It’s the musical numbers that really make these movies shine everything else is icing
Not being much into pop music I might be a voice out of the chorus here. Yet for me this movie fell flat, despite the good characters. Unfortunately the various side plots got lost in the rushed finale, so we got the auto-reclusive rockstar agreeing almost immediately to be part of the show because they were running out of time; the pig mom getting panic attacks that are never clear where they come from (she said she wasn't afraid of heights, so who knows) and overcoming them in one jump; the spoiled daughter of the boss agreeing to be part of the show after a big dramatic fight just because the plot needed it. Yeah, Porsha was quite bad written as a character, such a pity because she had potential.
Now let me at least praise the animations, which were nice and colorful and really well made. Not so much the soundtrack, with some songs that didn't really fit the theme ("A sky full of stars" for a fight scene on a War Planet??? and between the ocean of love pop songs you choose "I say a little prayer"??? and "could have been me" didn't make any sense in the musical, I dunno, it could have been thought better). But then again, I had this complain for the first movie too, but at least in that movie the songs didn't have to be coherent with a story (in this case, the cast was performing a sci-fi musical, so the songs kinda had to feel like they were telling a story), they just had to be coherent with the characters.
Anyway it's still entertaining enough.
With a very similar premise to the first part, and repeating with the excellent cast that made it a success in 2016, it is logical that it would be as successful as its predecessor, if not more so. However, it is a VERY uneven film (not in the technical aspect, where it is an absolute delight and is cared for in the smallest detail), but during the first two thirds of the film it is boring and slow. As they say, "nothing relevant happens", and it's only in the last third that they pull out all the stops. We will laugh and cry, all at the same time. And above all, we will sing, because that's what it's all about.
In the Spanish version, mention should be made of the unfortunate choice of non-professional voice actors who don't fit the character (Luis Tosar, i´m talking about you), who, although they are professionals in their field, don't quite make the grade and are out of tune.
As in sequels, a bit repeatable. However, Bono is a plus.
Yes, I found the animated movie I was looking for
It was definitely a letdown compared to the original film
Amazing! This was so much better than Hotel Transylvania 4 (watched em both tonight)
Visually really stong and pleasing, but when it comes to the story it falls a little flat, it's not until the very end that I finally got into it
Fine, the story is not as good as the first, but it has great music that will have you singing along and it's just awesome fun! I absolutely loved it!
Okayi I really wasn't a fa fan of the first film it just seemed to have no plot however though this isn't perfection its really not that bad I enjoyed getting more out of the story of the gorilla cause he was my favorite storyline of the original movie and I personally think he deserves his own origin story however this was one of the best story's for family's this year and I recommend it
I actually really enjoyed this sequel. I saw the earlier preview of it last Saturday, and loved the musical numbers in this one even more. I enjoyed all the little arcs each of the characters got and how it was a bit of a different journey than the original. Each of the final musical sets is a great auditory and visual feast especially the final duet. The one thing that I would recommend most of you to do is NOT watch the trailers if you can. They honestly do spoil like 95% of the movie (no joking). Just trust my review instead ;)
I had a blast, twice. I got jealous of the animated crowds watching a show :pound_symbol:covidtimes
It was cute. I enjoyed the performances and the visual spectacle of it all. I would have enjoyed it if there was more story for Bono...maybe some additional flashbacks to show why he was so revered. Probably won't watch again.
I enjoyed watching this with my Daughters, love The Visuals, very Colourful and Detailed..Sing 2 reminded me of The First Movie, just with some added Characters..But it was a entertaining Movie none the less..I won’t mind watching a Part 3, if they decide to make one.
Background: As Kiba Snowpaw, a seasoned 36-year-old alpha Ice Wolf from HowlStrom, I bring a unique perspective to "Sing 2," a film that not only captivated me with its vibrant animation and storytelling but also resonated deeply with my love for musicals done right. My experience in gaming and fascination with character curation and lore adds depth to my appreciation of this film.
"Sing 2" is a remarkable example of a sequel done right. It strikes a harmonious balance between visual splendor, engaging storytelling, and musical brilliance. For someone like me, who values depth and craftsmanship in both gaming and cinema, this film stands out as a shining example of excellence in animation.
Enjoyable enough but there is no need for a Sing 3.
What a great sequal and maybe even better then the first. I'm not a fan of U2, but the music fits here perfectly.

It’s a fun kids movie… Nothing more, nothing less! There are definitely worse kids movies but also better ones. If you watch this with a kid in the cinema, you might find yourself chuckling a few times, which is good. Just don’t set your own standards too high, it’s not for you.
