Sierra Burgess Is a Loser 2018

There are so many problematic things in this movie! How is any of this okay. From catfishing, to non-consensual kissing, to the transphobic/homophobic jokes, to faking a disability, to cyberbulling... the list just goes on. We should not romanticize any of these things. None of this is empowering for women or for people who are overweight.

Adorable and predictable adaptation of "Cyrano de Bergerac". The relationship between Sierra and Veronica is the real love story of the movie.

Yup Sierra Burgess really is a loser...and a manipulative selfish bitch. Don’t ever catfish people okay, it’s bad and terrible. No matter how you put it or turn it into a romantic comedy film like this it’s just wrong and messy and it hurts people’s feelings. Don’t do it.

If I could give it zero stars I would. It’s worse than anything else.

I would usually throw some decent joke here, but fucking Marla from Boston Public?
Even if the rest of the movie sucks... And it did

Kinda hard to give cat-fishing a positive spin at the end, why this movie failed miserably. I needed a happy ending for Jamey without Sierra to be honest. Dan was a better friend than she deserved too. I liked Veronica’s character development though. But Sierra, just nope.

I actually really enjoyed this netflix original movie! It was the right combination of comedy and romance!

It's a very cute movie featuring a great main character who is a horrible person, a secondary character who was supposed to be a horrible person but goes through a believable positive development, and their lovely friendship. The soundtrack is great too, as expected from a piece with such a John Hughes influence.
I knew Shannon Purser from Stranger Things, and I was kind of expecting Sierra and Barb to be similar, since they are from the same outcast mold, but they could not be more different. I am impressed with Purser for being able to play such different personalities into the same stereotype. Also, Froseth is so pretty I do not think she is human... maybe she is from an advanced alien race, taking a vacation on Earth?
But going back to "Sierra is a bad person but a great character", oh, wow. I do not think I have ever disliked a rom-com heroine this much, EVER. Specially in a teen movie! Still, it was cute and entertaining, and Noah deserves a main role, soon. Here, it felt like he was there for decoration, which is sad, because he has a lot of charisma on-screen.

Yes, it's a cute movie, and yes, it is a bit of a wish-fulfilment thing. But the catfishing thing does leave a nasty aftertaste, despite the Cyrano/Roxanne pretensions. Still, if you don't take it too seriously, you might enjoy it.

god it's probably just me but i really thought that sierra and veronica were gonna completely forget about jamey and get together by the end of the movie

Okay, first I was liking Sierra, yes she was a dork but she was strong. She respondend to her bullies and that part of her was great.
Then the catfishing thing.... there is no excuse for that. And then she even betrays her friends. She showed that she is just a mean, self-absorbed girl who thinks is a victim all the time.
So I hated Sierra's character, simply a stupid girl who got what she wanted but definitely didn't deserved it.
This movie was predictable and made no sense. The boy should never accept it and in real life he wouldn't. Who would want a lier, manipulative bitch?? In the end we realize that the "Mean Girl" of the movie, Veronica, is way better person and more honest that the protagonist.
This movie failed miserably in being a romantic comedy... Just horrible.

I loved it !! This is such an adorable movie, and yes, my favorite part is hands down the relationship between Sierra and Veronica, which I noticed right away in the trailer. Yay for subverting the popular girl-mean girl trope and for having such a beautiful, positive female friendship take the stage!

And I know people are saying they wish Sierra hadn't gotten the guy at the end, but nah man, I love me some cutesy romance.

no she is not a loser, she is a fucking selfish manipulative bitch

terrible dumpster fire of a movie.

the colour palette of this movie is so drab

I didn't like the whole thing (I'm not a fan of teen dramas) but I really love Noah Centineo and his characters (main reason I decided to watch this movie) they're always strong on the outside but so damn cute on the inside.

Not cute! Come on, how can any of this be acceptable behavior? And that ending.. ugh!

It was very cliché, but well... I liked. I watched the movie because of the lyrics of the music "sunflower", whom I listened by recommendation from Spotify. A happy founding in the end.

I left a 3 for the Sierra character, the other characters are beautiful, supportive, friendly and improve in the film like human beens, intelectual, moral,etc... BUT THE F*KIN SIERRA IS A SAD B*TCH WHO RUINS ALL.
So 10 to Dan, Victoria and Jamey for the best people of the world, 1 to Sierra, i hate u

Improbable but charming. Talented young performers (Noah Centineo is a rising leading man). I give this film a 7 (good) out of 10 [Teen Romance]

If you're bored, and you liked To All the Boys I've Loved Before, you'll like this too probably. Even though the storyline with catfishing isn't something to be pushed aside as easily as it was here, I still enjoyed it. The friendship between Sierra and Veronica was honestly my favorite part, except of myabe Jameys shirtless selfies, I really liked those too hehe. I liked To All the Boys I've Loved Before a tad more than this, but this is honestly not bad :)

Pretty refreshing till the end. I loved how characters and personalities were developed. There was actual story to be told, I never felt like there was filler crap. Felt very original except the ending. The cliche is too obvious in the end. It felt like hey we need to end this.

this is so bad can we stop pretending this was good ok thanks

This is the cutest story I've seen in a long time. Plus there are so many life sessons in there.

Sierra Burgess Is A Loser is a nice teen comedy. Much, much better than To All the Boys I've Loved Before. Veronica and Sierra's relationship is what made the movie for me.
I could've done without the sappy ending though.

This is new and beautiful. This will give you heartache and butterflies at the same time. A modern chick flick with a big lesson. The ending could be much better. I love this better than The Kissing Booth and To All the Boys I've Loved Before. LOL
