Seventh Son 2014

This is absolutely unbelievable.

Taking a look at the previous comments, I must say something that has not been said yet.
If the rest of the people are horrified by the casting, writing, and production in general, imagine the ones who are fans of The Spook's books. I truly believe that a film adapted from a book should not mirror everything from the original work, but it is really disrespectful as a whole. Factors as the main plot, the personality of the main characters, and the nature of things in the literary universe, for example, are factors that you do not change unless there is a great reason for it. This film is basically HOW TO NOT ADAPT A NOVEL 101, it beats Eragon and Percy Jackson by far in that department.

Most disappointing things about it:
Mother Malkin's transfiguration into a dragon (?)
Gregory as a drunk old man with little manners

Jeff Bridges mumbled, garbled 'accent' made this almost unwatchable for me, it's below par Saturday afternoon tv fare, if there's nothing else on go for it, otherwise switch over . . .

Certainly not a great movie by any means. It´s what you make of it which for me was some decent afternoon entertainment.

Yes, story is thin and predictable and in general not very original. Visuals are as good as can be expected. Acting is mediocre but with characters that aren´t deep in the first place you can only do so much. The one thing that was unbearable was Jeff Bridges way of talking. He sounded like he head hot potatoes in his cheeks.

Well told story, decently acted. Plus Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore are both wonderful, as always. Not having read the books, I am not burdened by that comparison. But I would probably rate this lower if it is, in fact, as different at a core level as others say.

The film felt rushed, writing wasn't very good, Julianne Moore didn't seem very fit for the role of evil witch-queen and it all lacked a certain depth. Kind of disappointed, even though my expectations weren't even that high to begin with.

Not the best movie ever, but that's what to expect with something like this. Fun popcorn flick that looked great.

Julianne Moore cast as an evil witch and the main villain is pure genius! and makes this a mustsee

Excellent movie, worth the watch. Jeff Bridges plays the role perfectly!

The fantasy adventure Seventh Son is a poorly made film that’s rather silly and pointless. When a powerful witch breaks free of her prison a spook named Gregory recruits an apprentice to help him defeat her. Jeff Bridges, Ben Barnes, and Julianne Moore lead the cast, and their performances are awful (especially Bridges). The writing is also incredible bad; as the characters are one-dimensional and the plot is convoluted garbage. And the creature effects aren’t that good either; lacking a sense of menace and terror. Underwhelming and generic, Seventh Son has little imagination and no passion.

Didn't like this very much. I'm not the greatest fantasy fan but I feel this should be better. Visually I didn't like the bloom effect that was forced in every daylight scene and Jeff Bridgis voice... why!!

I would never have guessed this was made in 2014. More like 2004 with the awful blooming effect.

this movie is more believable if antje and alicia were lovers, and lizze was torn between alice or malkin. but then again, we cant always have nice thing huh

Witcher but with Bridge's character from RIPD as Geralt and Moore as wicked dragon of the west.

The whole story is rushed AF. Visuals a pretty good.

This movie is so bad. Casting, acting, story, directing.....Not worth your time

I love Fantasy movies but either this was really bad or I was feeling really tired because I fell asleep after 20 minutes. The music was too loud and the speech not loud enough. As fo Mr Bridges I just do not understand anything he says, it is as if he is still chewing food while speaking...garbled noise.

The movie could be worse.

Not in any means a good movie, but alright for a no-brainer hangover-flick when you don't want to think too much and just watch something. Bridges is never bad either, so he makes it quite watchable. I will probably never watch it again though...

I watched this movie for Jeff Bridges, but Alicia Vikander stole the show.
A bad movie that isn't actually as bad I expected. Honorable mentions for Olivia Williams and Jeff Bridges for their acting, and an honorable discharge for the writers please.

As having read the books (all of them so far), I've got to say that this is probably the worst adaptation I've ever seen. Extreme wasted potential and a plot that could easily sustain a trilogy. As having read and seen Eragon (which was my all time worst adaptation until I saw this) and the Percy Jackson series .. Holy shit I didn't think they could break a plot so horribly, but alas, they did. Even if you forget that you're watching the most horrific slaughtering of a good book, the movie on it's own is horrendously stupid and Jeff Bridges must have taken the roll only to see how wacky he could be without getting fired. It's stupid and pointless. Even Julianne Moore is horrible as Mother Malkin - who is potrtayed nothing like the book, I might add. I give it a 3, simple because the effects and fantasy setting isn't too poorly made, though not pretty at all.

Worst adaptation EVER even worst than Percy Jackson! The only thing good was Juliane Moore as Malkim
