Scare Me 2020

This could very well have been a play or an audio-drama. It didn't NEED to be a film, but it was fine in that format. I watched mostly because I'll see anything Aya Cash is a part of, and she's great in this film. Her main costar, Josh Ruben, is also pretty solid, having great chemistry with Cash. The film itself is mostly the two of them telling stories to each other and bantering. Chris Redd shows up for about 20 minutes to spice up this two-hander, but again, it's still people sitting around and talking. I was never bored, but your mileage may vary depending upon how much visual stimulation you need in your films.

Really enjoyed my time with this one! Scare Me is a witty hodgepodge of mini stories and creative vignettes tied loosely together around two writers at differing stages of their careers. Solid comedic beats with some clumsy drama makes for a very original comedy-horror, but a somewhat shoehorned ending takes off some of the edge built over the runtime. An easy recommendation if you can see past some of the bumps and bruises.

And as a personal aside, Aya is just great and as sassy as ever in this. Been a big fan since I discovered her in You're The Worst. Think I'll watch anything she's in going forward.

A good movie to watch at the campfire, just not as scary.

An interesting premise (two people in a secluded cabin telling scary stories to each other) that is very well directed and fairly well performed but comes up as short as a broke toddler when it comes to the hackneyed, clichéd and fatally predictable script.

What could've been really good movie just winds up as a curiosity.

I am in love with everyone in this movie. We're all going to get married and be happy.

Scare Me has an interesting premise but the film doesn’t reach its full potential. The film is stretched way too long and the ending needed a re-write to achieve something special. It’s still fun thanks to the performances of both Cash and Ruben.

Really enjoyable for the most part. Actors have great chemistry with each other.
Very light on the horror aspect and not much of an overall story. More like watching two actors doing an improvisational theatre show.
The stories when Chris Redd joins in are the highlight.
Ending fell flat for me.

Began well, and the leads were initially engaging. But as they rambled on with their spooky stories they started to do my head in. Still, gotta love the Misery throwback at the start of the film.

A risky bet that is sustained in the performings to build a horror anthology movie. It works just as well as a comedy as as a tribute to the genre, and it finds its main reinforcements in the actors to achieve a dynamic and entertaining proposal, although with some imbalances and an excessive length. It must be praised the incontestable tribute to horror literature as the origin of the audiovisual representation.
