Ryuichi Sakamoto: Coda 2017

Ryuichi Sakamoto (♰2023) searching for sounds in the Arctic, capturing the silence of Fukushima, photographing the World Trade Center attacked near his home in New York, extracting the music of life and also of death. It's a reflective documentary that talks about composition from the restless gaze of a sound seeker, who quotes Paul Bowles ("Because we don't know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well") and always returns to inspiration Bach's music. A composer without barriers who survived cancer to meet again with it.

Ryuichi Sakamoto’s music isn’t always my cup of tea, but his creative process is so interesting that it doesn’t matter.
