lowell and sawyer's dynamic was the best part of this whole film, authentic and intense in how the trust develops over the short time they're in each other's lives. acting was good - anyone who thinks men like the antagonists are just hick stereotypes should consider themselves blessed not to have met anyone like that in their day to day life bc they exist and they're the Worst.
not an original film by any stretch of the imagination but worth the watch as a "what do i choose from my netflix watchlist i'm so overwhelmed"
Ripoff of Wolf Creek(Australian Movie)?
Predicatable but I enjoyed it.
There are plenty of twists and turns in Rust Creek, but none of them particularly original or convincing. My advice: turn left and take the road marked Wolf Creek instead.
A decently entertaining "hillbilly horror" movie that's primarily supported by a strong performance from the lead.
Pros: tense and kinetic when it needs to be, the relationshion between Sayer and Lowell and how it develops feels genuine, Swayer literally telling the antagonists they were creepy and then kicking the shit out of them (rather than being a typical damsel in distress) was super satisfying to watch.
Cons: terrible pacing (the movie really drags in places), lack of a realistic character motivation for almost everyone, "twists" that anybody whose seen anything in this genre would see coming a mile away.
No regrets watching it, was good fun, a perfectly serviceable B-movie.

Poor writing and blunt plot, your usual girl stuck in a forest movie, something to watch if you really have nothing else to do.
