It is not that bad, i mean is not a good movie, but it is better than the second one, I didn't like it but i didn't hate it.
Really enjoyed this one. The mystery unravels and kept me on the edge of my seat awaiting the outcome. Well worth a watch. 8/10.
It’s ok...watchable, but nothing new or fantastic.
Well, not as bad as I thought it would be, keep your expectations below zero and you'll actually enjoy it and try not compare it to the first one (hard thing to do tho)
Knowing the bad ratings, bad reviews and that it topped the budget on most films in the cinema, I went into it with an open mind and came out of it with lots of disappointments, like watching the video and getting the 7 days to live curse so go with the ratings & reviews, you won't be missing anything good but I'll leave that to you to watch the video tape yourself. I got exited for a few years after hearing this film was in development being a fan of the Japanese classic and now I wish it was still in development, re-done, the right cast or some of the same cast, more effort into it, better effects, more action, a lest be creepy, didn't mash the story up or rush it and with the original story without the crap twist on the curse/story that just didn't feel like the Ring to me. I didn't think much of the other American version of 2 but lest they tried to live up to the Japanese versions that hands down were a horror but this was a waste of my time & money and needs to be thrown down the well because it's one ugly piece of work like the spirit herself.
this movie is stupid- what a waste of time. Rectal exams are more interesting than this.
Really bad, pointless 'addition' to the faltering Rings franchise. Take my advice and skip this one... it will only make your eyes bleed!
Don't watch it or you will die......of boredom,
A waste of time. One of the few times I was almost leaving before the movie ended. Really, really boring with a non-sense story.
Tries something different and has a somewhat better plot than the second one. Probably would have been better with Naomi Watts starring though. There's mostly a second rate cast with the exception of Vincent D'Onfrio and Johnny Galecki (The Big Bang Theory).
The movie kept my attention until it totally falls apart by the end.
It was just so middle of the road. It wasn't good, it wasn't scary, it wasn't engaging, it wasn't so bad it's good, it was a sort of purgatory, I left the theater feeling no different than when i went in, but i did feel like i wasted my time.
The third American film in the Ring series is somehow completely superfluous. The plot of the series just spins in circles. In "Rings", the premise is taken from the short film of the same name, but the actual plot then runs similarly to the rest of the movies. At its core, it's once again about learning more about Samara's past. And the more we learn with each film, the less interesting the character becomes. There is nothing left of the eerie atmosphere of the first movie here. The boredom is only interrupted by a few cheap jump scares. There is never any suspense, and the many plot holes contribute to that. The only truly positive aspect I can think of is that the likeable lead, Matilda Lutz, is pretty good, and the rest of the cast is also solid. However, that can't save the film either.
This movie sucks with a very, "I've heard of this 'Ringu' thing from my nephew and want you to write an edgy new story for today's internet savvy kids" kind of energy. In reality, it's probably just Paramount trying to keep their rights to the IP, but it's clear that no one with a love of horror touched this film at any point. There's a neat idea at the core of it, but the bland characters and clumsy directing make leave it feeling heartless and shallow. Also, it has the squinty dude from the Bad Nerd Theory and I can't think of anything I hate more than that horeshit show and everybody in its orbit.
Kind of boring and not scary at all. Super predictable!
Rings attempts to reboot the franchise for the digital age and fails horribly. The story follows a teenage girl who attempts to save her boyfriend by coping and watching an infamous video that supposedly kills you seven days after watching it, however her digital copy turns out to contain additional footage that she comes to believe was meant for her; leading her to go in search of its meaning. Once again the series tries to make Samara a sympathetic victim, but it doesn’t work. Making the villain good and the good guy bad is a tried trope that’s been played out for a while now. And, the new powers given to Samara are extremely contrived. Also, the performances are incredibly poor, particularly the lead (who has no charisma). A second rate B-horror film, Rings is incredibly dull and nonsensical.
Really enjoyed it. Not as creepy as it's predecessors, but fills in a ton of back story.
I'm glad "f**k you! It's January" is still around-
Wait a minute...
This makes the Ring Two look like the Sistine Chapel in comparison.
horrible movie. like the old one.
It's so bad that I didn't even blink during the jumpscares.
Bad acting, bad writing, bad dialogue; it's just a terrible movie!
Not as good as I had hoped, a few jump scares, and an okay-ish storyline but just didnt keep me gripped
Much better than I thought it would be. I didn't expect much though. It has that creepy vibe but it's also kinda interesting. Funny seeing Leonard in it as well.
Don't waste your time unnecessarily
Waste of time really, I was hoping for a twisted plot... Little made sense, not scarey at all
Good job turning a horror classic into a trite flick.
I feel magnanimous and I'm gonna put 2 instead of 1 just because I liked the scenes from the "new" tape.
This is one of the most boring and pointless movie I think I've ever seen in my life, completely waste of time, it doesn't even have good scene or involontary comedy/trash, nothing: this movie is nothing.
Save at least your hour and half of your seven days' week.
I agree with the people in the comments. If I hadn't seen the original movies of the franchise, it would be an okay horror flick I guess. I remember what a fresh feel the original asian "The Ring": Great acting, good story, great actors. Overall great package. This movie is a remake of the successfull franchise and.. well it failed. Some people say it was good but when you ask them if they have ever seen the original films most haven't. Especially the acting is extremely weak here, as the viewer is given no character you actually care about. A disappointment. :(
Pretty lousy. Revisionist crap that doesn't do anything new or even remotely scary or interesting with this once great franchise. Filled largely with an uninteresting cast who you don't care about, doing a bunch of illogical nonsense. And that opening..? Ugh! Why does current studio horror try to squeeze in these over-the-top action sequences?! THIS crap is what we were basing the viability of old horror coming back?! For shame.
No matter what you think, genius casting--Leonard and Falling Water's Tess...love that.
Lame story and just completely boring. The only good thing about this movie is seeing Johnny Galecki in something other than The Big Bang Theory.
Don't watch this movie! (although, like the people in this movie, you will probably probably ignore my advice and watch it anyway :) )
Unbelievably disappointing. I wish it had jump scares so I could tell people that I got scared but nope. Don't watch it.
Totally trash, don't worth!

Do me a favour and don't see this because of me. That way I can feel I'm getting my revenge for sitting through an hour and a half of PG-13 boredom. I just hope they make another so I can not see it.
