Resolution 2012

why do people on this site hate indie horror so much

The misleading poster fits the movie perfectly. This isn't glorified torture porn but rather a story of two friends with weird things happening. Not only does it stray away from genre conventions, it also critiques it. If you enjoy indie horror give it a go (just don't expect to be scared).

Michael ties up his best friend, Chis, in a remote cabin where he's been getting high for the last few months to get him sober. It takes an unexpected turn when a series of strange thing start happening around the house. I'm amazed at how good it looks and how much it accomplishes for such a small budget. I've seen The Endless back then and was very impressed with it. I definitely prefer this one just because it's more focused. This is a solid mystery film with some ambitious storytelling, memorable performances, and believable friendship at it’s core. The horror mostly comes from the uncertainty as this has a very strange structure and really makes you think. Another thing that I really like it doesn't feel as a shock film but as something honest, which made the moments of shock/effect more shocking and effective. Moves at a pretty slow pace, it does well building tension throughout. The dynamic between the two and the unusual situation they find themselves in are really fun to watch.

nope, it didn't win me and i didn't get it that much. Although the explanation about the ending in imdb makes a bit of sense it was not good at all.

This will be mostly a love it or hate it. If you can deal with open endings you'll probably rate it 7-10...if not a 3-6.

I liked the premise, I didn't like the rushed concept. In 5mins we go from a vague idea to them 100% believing some entity is after them.

I also don't understand why they didn't leave. It's one thing to not go home. It's another to not just go anywhere else on the planet.

I’m not sure the title fits the bill. I have mixed feelings about this one, it was interesting watching the slow build up but was left a bit unfulfilled at the conclusion. It was shot well for a lower budget film but some of the performances could have been better. Overall, on the better side of average.

Saw the Endless tonight and went back to add this rating. Saw this oneiin Jan of 2021 and liked the premise. Execution was hit or miss but happy to have seen it. 6.0

It’s a very mellow movie, but it’s pretty good. It’s definitely a movie that you have to pay attention closely too, and if you think it sucks, it probably because you didn’t catch some of the detail clues through out the movie. If so I would recommend afterwards watching a YouTube video explaining and breaking down the movie to have a better understanding of it.

A thinker for sure! It makes you scratch your brain and I like the various misdirections the story gives you. The ending is brillant once you fugure out what the hell you just saw. I recommend going back and rewatching the RV scene.

I don't know what this was. It's not horror. Hardly any tension. The dialogue, while somewhat relatable, is not funny or witty. You wait tediously for something to happen and then it just ends. A few contrived, dull elements of mystery fade away with no clarification, no... resolution (was the title chosen ironically?). Felt like I'm watching footage off some very well equipped kid's school project.
