I kinda grown up playing and watching resident evil so it is a relevant and special saga for me. This movie that came with a (big) delay is far to be perfect but it is really entertaining and enjoyable. There is some parts of the movie that the montage of scenes is not the best cause there are so many things happening at the same time and really quick and it may look a bit confusing. In spite of these bad points i think it is a decent ending with one good plot for one series that will be remembered for a long time.
Considering the quality of the entire series..... an excellent ending and good stand alone movie...... 8/10 for sure.......
From movie to movie this series just gets worse. I was really disappointed even though I didn't even expect too much of this hopefully really last instalment. I enjoyed that some characters and scenes kind of returned but otherwise it was dreadful to watch this really cheesy and predictable movie…
So you know how in Tropic Thunder you're left to wonder how ridiculously over the top Tugg Speedman's Scorcher series might be, this movie answers that curiosity.
Resident Evil Final Chapter goes overboard in every conceivable way. The action sequences are so poorly cut at times it felt like I was staring directly at a strobe light.
If this wasn't the end of the series it would be franchise killing bad. This is the Terminator Genisys of the Resident Evil franchise. I would only recommend this movie to someone I genuinely hate.
Nice ending to a roller coaster saga of zombie mayhem.
One of the worst in the francise...
The "Get Through" the Resident Evil Series Project of 2021 - # 6 of 6
So...on to the one I haven't seen before and the reason for watching the whole series again.
I really wanted to like this one, and I did...to a degree, but the damn editing was so tiresome throughout the action scenes, I almost had to take breaks to stand the constant cuts. You could get epileptic seizures from less. This ended up ruining the experience for me somewhat.
If it hadn't been for the insane way they have edited this movie, it probably would be a decent piece of entertainment. As it stands it ends up being just too tiresome to enjoy fully.
The other thing that bothers me with this is the giant plotholes left between Retribution and this one. For some reason, there is a LOT that's left unexplained. A bit of sloppy storytelling there...
The Final Chapter gives you a conclusion to the franchise...and an ok one at that, but I probably won't watch this one again unless I was rewatching them all...and that won't happen anytime soon.
Definitely the worst of the franchise. Action sequences were poorly filmed and the story felt forced. Just an excuse to conclude the series, seems more appropriate to be a direct to TV release.
I want to like this but there are soooooo many plot holes (つ﹏<)・゚。
Unbelievable waste of time and resources in another installment of a franchise that had absolutely EVERYTHING to kick ass. This final entry is full of the same pointless (dare I say STUPID) jump scares (zombies are loud as hell and could be heard a mile away, but in this piece of crap of a movie those same zombies, somehow, can manage to stay silent until they are an inch or less from the characters neck or even jump high out of lake to score some brain while attached to a convenient chain, all in the name of a cheap thrill), predictable scenarios, bad argument, lousy acting and the so-so CGI that we all know and hate.
To all the completionists out there, I share your pain: It's feels awful that the only reason I wasted my time with this thing, was so that I could tell myself I saw every damn chapter of this great disappointment called "Resident Evil: the movie series", but that's the absolute truth. If you, unlike me apparently, value your money (and mental health, for crying out loud) stay clear of this one, unless your life is going all too well and you're into getting cranky and having something to bitch about when talking movies with someone. If that's the case you're in for some awesome shit...
One of the worst blockbuster i have ever seen ! So boring, no scenario, full action with ten thousand cuts ... This director have no idea how it was painful and daizy to watch it ... I'll puke all that crap now sorry... I'm sick and infected by this awful work!
I would say that my expectations for this movie was pretty much spot on. I expected a visual action feast with a fair amount of gore in it and that is pretty much what I got. Things like a well developed script and stuff like that, well obviously the producer thought asking for such things would be nitpicking.
It currently holds a 5.6 rating at IMDb and 60% user score on TMDb which is fairly well deserved. Of course there are always reviewers giving it single star ratings and saying it is the worst film ever. That is just bullshit. These people have obviously never seen a really bad movie.
Milla Jovovich is again playing the hot zombie killing chick from the previous movies and although she tragically lost her superior T-virus strength in one of the previous installments her capacity for dealing death and mayhem as well as absorbing hits still borders on being super hero stuff. Unrealistic but fun to watch.
Despite my comments on the script earlier there is actually one with a paper thin thread intended just to bring the story from point A to B with a maximum of violence and special effects in between. I do think the tanks that they had cooked up looked cool although they were just visual candy a’la Mad Max. I mean come one, a tank with ventilation shafts all over the place so all you had to do was pour some gazoline over it and light a match? Stupid to say the least.
There were a few other things was more designed for looks than realism. For instance a certain ventilation fan that were used to drag out some of the events. Who the f… designs a ventilation fan with a dozen or so rings of blades? It is a ventilation fan for Christ sake, not a jet engine turbine. Oh, yes of course, stupid me, otherwise they would not have to spend so much time crawling through it.
I did like the various mutated zombies as well by the way. The flying thing at the beginning and the end was quite cool. Some people seems to have had an issue with the fast, sometimes very fast, clipping of scenes. I have to say that it did not disturb me that much. Not that it added much either though.
Speaking of the end. Well, I guess it was okay. The end itself was not too surprising. It was dragged down by the stupid nonsense with Dr. Isaacs though. The only time an exploding grenade resulted in anything less than a semi-atomic eruption of flames was of course when the director had decided that he needed the bad guy for a few more scenes. Lazy and stupid script writing.
On the whole I enjoyed the movie as much as I expected to. It was an okay movie. Good for a evening fix of zombie splattering and Milla Jovovich (okay so what, I am a male of traditional sexual orientation you know). It could have been a lot better but it was not really horrendously bad either.
The end is in the end of the begining ;) Movie kept the climate of the old, good Resident. It has nicely summarized and finished the series. Almost regreting it's over... ;>
amazing movie!! it tied up all the loose ends i thought nicely
I honestly don't know what this movie was about.
It started and I guess also ended, but there wasn't much of something in between.. :/
Somehow I doubt this was the final chapter.
Unfortunately I must add, because this is nothing more than a CGI gore fest with no real story or any logic towards its plot. It´s degrading from the first movie down. It´s just fight, kill, run - repeat. And if there is a sequel I´m sure they will be very inventive in bringing back everyone they killed here with ridicoulous story lines.
Please spare us.
It felt like the plot was all over the place and there was no real story. I liked the first one, the second one was meh and from the third one it got worse with every new movie. The ending leaves a plot open for another one but at this time unless they really do something different they should just leave it at this as far as i'm concerned.
Loved this series but this was the eeakest installment to date. They honestly didn't even bother to film much, relying heavily on montages to fill space. Dont waste your time unless you will feel upset about not finishing the franchise.
I expected nothing and was still disappointed. The editing was terrible and made this movie unwatchable.
"Zoo(mbie) lander". Bunch of models trying to look pretty while killing zombies. :)
I really liked this movie. It was much better than the previous ones, which were just cool 3D Action. But in The Final Chapter the story gets in the foreground again.
It has some of the worst editing I've seen in a while
Not my favorite of the franchise, that's for sure. For starters, almost every fight scene/sequence is way too fast-paced/disjointed and 'strobe light-y' for you to follow what's happening. One scene appeared to have a really cool villain/creature but the extremely brief battle between this creature and "Alice" was disrupted by the flashing/strobe lighting that (for me, anyway) the fight scene itself was impossible to follow. All I could tell was this was a really wicked-looking creature that was in pursuit of Alice and she came up with a chain from somewhere and did something…kind of like the dragon scene from Shrek where the dragon pursues them until choking itself at the end of the chain. Not sure really (in this movie) if that's what happened but it seemed to be the same thing. Overall, the story has just (1) gotten a bit tired and (2) too bizarre and Matrix -esque to continue being interesting. It's as if the T-virus keeps mutating these creatures (or the Umbrella Corporation does?) until they're not even "undead" zombie-like creatures anymore: they're unstoppable demon-like monsters that take every ounce of firepower AND willpower to stop...and even then you're not sure. Same thing for "Dr. Isaacs": he's suddenly not just the equal but a superior fighter than Alice and, preprogrammed with a technological defense system that sees everything in advance, it's virtually impossible to stop him.
In short, my opening statement here should suffice: This was definitely not my favorite of the entire franchise. I certainly wasn't fond of the ending because it just...I don't know. It didn't fit, IMO. Watch this at your own risk. If you're a big fan of the videogame, perhaps this will do more for you than it did me. I just wasn't all that wow'd by it.
After you finish the film and you are thinking to yourself about how bad the writing and cinematography was,
Just remember, Ruby Rose ate turbine for this film.
7.5/10
Well that's a rap and I must say it was a very satisfying conclusion to an awesome exciting saga.
What a ride with Milla and I enjoyed every second of it.
This brought the franchise a full circle and I thought it did it very well and Alice was on form as always in this one and still without her Superpowers,
But that wasn't going to stop her in completing her life's goal in saving the planet and the last of humanity from Umbrella and the
T-virus.
I would have liked to have seen more of Wesker and his glowing orange/red eyes from behind his shades which is always so fcuking cool to see, as he is an excellent bad guy for Alice and always gives her more than she can handle with him being 2.0 as well.
But they gave that role to
Dr Isaac for Alice to struggle with, but that definitely should have been Albert. The fight scenes were epic and frantic and the camra cuts just made it all seem controlled chaos which was fine and I really didn't mind that for this movie and how it all played out with who was doing the fighting. Even those that can't do it in real life can still look fcuking awesome doing it in a movie so I was totally fine with that as it all just played into an already kick ass and high octane movie anyway.
X FINAL THOUGHT
Awesome franchise with a really solid story throughout,
Alice's Story
And a very compelling one at that and as a complete story I give the franchise a solid 9/10
"YOUR ALL GOING TO DIE DOWN HERE"
Now On To The
UnderWorld Saga
I honestly loved this movie. Don't even feel like explaining why. I just did.
With Resident Evil: The Final Chapter Paul W.S. Anderson brings an end to this long-running franchise. As humanity teeters on the verge of extinction Alice takes on one last mission to return to Raccoon City to steal a cure to the T-virus that could end the Zombie Apocalypse. The plot is extremely contrived, beginning with a laughable retcon of the series that creates all kinds of continuity issues. And the action scenes are fairly rote and don’t have any real stakes to them (as Alice is practically invincible). Still, some of the big zombie battles are entertaining. Running on empty, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is one of the weakest entries in the series and doesn’t have much to offer.
"I have only one thing to say...go fuck yourself."
Not even the action is good in this one. At least it is hopefully done now.
At this stage, my expectations for this 'final entry' were low. As expected, it wasn't a great movie, though not the worst in the series. Should the franchise be resurrected, they need to stick to the scares and plotting of the original videogame, and not digress into the nonsense of the last few films.
By the end of the previous movie, I was really looking forward to seeing Alice, Jill, Ada, Leon, Wesker and (at the time, hopefully) Chris and Claire (MIA since the battle on Arcadia), kicking ass in the finale. Instead we loose half the team (and Becky) and are forced to suffer the return of Dr. Isaacs and a return to the hive. It's not what I was hoping for. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it for what it was, but it could of been so much better. Any number of Capcom RE characters, not already seen/used, COULD of made this a bit more enjoyable, even just a cameo/name drop... Eliza Walker, William/Annette/Sherry Berkin, Rebecca Chambers, Billy Coen to name a few...
Oh yes Milla is back on screen as badass Alice! Like others here I grew up with the Resident Evil franchise and videogames and I think Final Chapter was way better and more entertaining than the prequel. Everything comes to a conclusion and great action throughout the whole movie! I wanted this movie just to be a nonstop action movie, not to habe a too shabby story and it delivered :D Resident Evil fans you should watch this!
Ali Larters Comeback on screen as a former Heroes fan was also a nice addition. Overall great movie with 2 strong actresses!
This clears up the why of Resident Evil. Cool. Thank you. Other than that it is a flash movie. Like the early MTV clips where the camera man was on Meth. The ones working on this movie haven't been of Meth since the 70s. Besides the explanation of everything, this is horrible. Read the spoiler and be happy you avoided this. God this was bad...
I'm quite surprised; that was a lot more entertaining and less groanworthy than this franchise has been in a long long time. At least a decade. It's no masterpiece, obviously, but it's a fitting and satisfying end to this ridiculous series. I just wish it was more of a reunion of sorts to close out the series...
A shockingly decent close to an otherwise supremely disappointing franchise. Now reboot it. And this time, do it right.
I found it entertaining, little fast action scenes and a bit of chaotic plot but at the end everything comes together. Not the best of the franchise but watchable
Total meh fest. Just it being the ending of the series kept me going to the end.
what a piece of s*** is this?
Meh last one shoulda been the end
Solid action movie. Some good fight sequences, a little bit of lore to tie up loose ends and overall a dignified ending to the series.
The pacing bothered me a bit but I guess it makes sense. Some good little scares as well, which is nice since it brought some nostalgia as it reminded me of the feeling of playing the first games.
It's one of those movies where you just kick back and enjoy the ride. I'm a fan of the Resident Evil movie series in general so I knew what to expect. Nothing too serious, nothing that'll change your outlook on life, just a solid action movie despite its flaws. Ties up a lot of loose ends, it's got Ali Larter in it, and it's got some really great fight sequences. Don't expect too much from it and you'll be sure to enjoy the last or is it movie of the franchise.
didnt finish watching wasnt very good
5th Movie I picked and not working. Get your shit together who ever is behind this application. #ShiftvW8
It was good, close the story, entertained me and that's fine with me, looks cheaper than the others If you know that they come because you do not close the door, if you use the laser, because you do not use the box mode that can not be avoided
So far I was a big fan of this series and would even describe it as my favorite movie row in zombie movies. Sadly I must say, this last movie was rather dissapointing compared to the previous ones. It's ok to watch, but from all Resident Evil movies with Milla I clearly rate this as the worst one. At least it gets a little better towards the end.
It's rather suprising, that they took so long to get it out, as it is clearly a low budget production. Where previous movies had huge sceneries, this one keeps repeating around the same areas and props (Racoon City and Umbrella Tanks). Where previous movies invested a lot in martial arts fights and CGI effects, this movie tries to cheat you by shaking the camera in every action scene, so that you don't really see anything. While the previous movies invested in a plot, this movie is just constantly triggers very predictable "jump-scare" effects.
Just came back from the premiere and here is my review:
If you are new to the Resident Evil universe, then you would want to skip this and start with the previous ones.
If you are aware of the universe and events of the previous movies releases then you will find some common ground and enjoy most parts of the movie.
Quick Review:
- Much better and improved compared to the Previous movie
- Unexpected twists which give the plot sense and direction
- Beautiful CGI and scenery
- Action packed with some typical cliches
- Lots of explosions and flying bullets
- Terrifying enemies and mutated creatures ,
- Predictable jump scares every now and then
A good way to end the franchise but you can just predict it being revived very soon.

This movie is so bad. Every action is very fast and they only show some flashs... Just don't watch
