Red Notice 2021

Much better than I thought it would be. The Rock and Ryan Reynolds surprisingly work well together, and Gal Gadot is just divine as always. It is a fair bet that there's going to be a sequel, the ending made sure of that.

loading replies

I did enjoy it! The chemistry between the actors was great! The movie all in a lot of fun. Also some unexpected changes.

loading replies

You see the cast and you know what is coming. It is another simple plot movie but also an entertaining one. 7.5/10

loading replies

Good performances with an okay story make for a good action movie

loading replies

I dont understand all the hate towards this movie, it was fun. Yes its quite a lot of b.s. but in a fun way. Loved the many references to other movies/series and even to real persons here and there and at least 2 cameos. Ed Sheeran with his "I was in game of thrones", Reynolds in his India Jones outfit whistling the tune and referring MacGuffin, nazi crate with the super secret text on it, etc etc. Sure, very predictable here and there, but all in all I really enjoyed it for what it was: an action comedy.

loading replies

Has all the ingredients of something fun & enjoyable, but somehow came out utterly bland & overcooked.

Could've been better at sub-90 mins.

loading replies

You can’t unsee the back of Dwayne Johnsons head now! :skull::joy::joy: I laughed so hard !!

loading replies

I can't believe people actually think this is good.

loading replies

Great movie, which gave me a couple of laughs and kept me entertained the whole time.
The cast has good chemistry and does a great job. Ryan Reynolds basically plays his funny and saracastic Deadpool/talkshow persona, which I personally really enjoy.
Would recommend and looking forward to the sequel :fingers_crossed_tone1:!

loading replies

The most corporate movie I’ve seen in a while.
2 hours of pure unadulterated cringe.
The funniest thing about it is the performance by Chris Diamantopoulous (the “this guy fucks” dude from Silicon Valley), whose acting kept reminding me of Eddie Redmayne in Jupiter Ascending.

3/10

loading replies

You might not believe this, but these are the words from a fan of Reynolds and Johnson:
It did not make sense to me that Ryan Reynolds, a master arts thief, has the persona of Deadpool even here. Not to mention his acting is getting repetitive.
Also, the script doesn't make sense.
And the movie couldn't decide whether it was trying to be funny or thrilling.

loading replies

Largely a "meh, whatever" experience.

The usual performances from each of the cast, the obligatory scenes, the 100-words-a-minute Reynolds shtick.

It's okay. It's just largely predictable - and looks like it was mostly shot on sets and the background CG'd into place, which makes it look a little 'cheap'.

They've set it up for a sequel but let's be honest, this isn't Ocean's Eleven by any stretch. It's not even Knight and Day.

It's not bad but feels stale. This heist-style movie has been done so many times before. Thinking about it, just two weeks ago, still on Netflix, with Army of thieves. It's just forgettable.

Also, I'm starting to wonder if, when they sew Ryan Reynolds mouth shut in X-men, if they did not stumble on a very good idea. I just wanted him to finally shut up, the whole movie. I know that Deadpool was popular, but does he have to be the same character in every movie? Was fun for a while, but now it's getting old really quickly.

loading replies

i knew this movie was going to be worth it when the rock's car chase was stopped in the first u turn by an ice cream truck

loading replies

Worse than I expected. Very cringe in several areas. I like all 3 leads, so disappointed even for a silly popcorn flick. Not here for the plot, but was just too stupid to enjoy. 4.2

loading replies

Thoroughly entertaining film of mindless fun, but a disjointed, predictable and a bit unoriginal plot.

loading replies

“ I was in Game of Thrones, I’m Ed Sheeran bitch!” :joy:

loading replies

A waste of time. Especially when considering it’s only purpose is setting up a franchise.

loading replies

Imagine paying millions to three of the biggest stars in movies nowadays to make one of the most mediocre movies I have ever seen. There isn't even any acting in this movie, just actors playing themselves. Poor script and dialog.

loading replies

[Netflix] Mix of genres and references that however is less enjoyable and charming than intended, too artificial and impersonal. The best thing is its ability to not take itself seriously, and Ryan Reynolds' comic talent, even if it's repeating other characters' tics. The worst thing is the director's determination to play against his own script, boycotting the unpredictability of the turning points.

loading replies

I can see a great potential in this but sadly it wasn't in this movie. I miss adventures movies like this one, with some sort of treasure hunt in modern times, but the movie is to flat.. nothig is a real threat, everything is a joke and my god... someone has to tell Ryan Reynolds that he isn't shooting Deadpool anymore, he can change his acting to something besides goofy.
As I was watching, I couldn't stop thinking about in how awesome will be play that in a video game with all the stages, and challenges, and the different characters type... but in a movie... it doesn't work.
I feel like this is a ok movie based on a video-game that doesn't exist.

Can't unsee jungle cruise and free guy and wonder woman. But nice movie.

Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, Ryan Reynolds have given me a good time, I didn't ask for more. Those winks and references that includes

6.5/10 - It wasn't bad but I didn't really like it either. It had it's moments but overall it failed to get me invested enough into the story. I also didn't really like the ending... It was an unexpected twist but kinda annoying and very questionable (but it also explained a few things). But I was already wondering how this would end and none of the options I could come up with are really satisfying. It was a cool idea, had some funny moments (but overall I found it a bit to silly), some good action moments, and some surprises but the overall story just didn't feel good enough (I'm not quite sure why but it just wasn't enough for me).

loading replies

This odd couple buddy movie delivers. It's so fast-paced and self-effacing that it gets away with a lot that shouldn't work. Above all, the film rests on the charm of its three leads and their chemistry. Gal Gadot absolutely steals the show. With other actors, this may have been a cheesy failure. Instead, the movie reminds me of Hot Shots. Every action cliche is covered in a self-aware manner while also delivering stupidly macho explosions, stunts, and fight scenes. I didn't expect to like it or be so engaged. I'm a middle-aged intellectual woman - hardly the target audience! I would recommend and watch again.

loading replies

Hilarious and action-packed. This is NOT an "Action/Adventure" movie, so toss that idea out, and enjoy this as a great comedy/action movie. The chemistry between Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds is great and the dialogue non-stop. (That seems to be the case in most Ryan Reynolds movies.) No spoilers here, but I would definitely recommend watching this one. Would love to see them come out with a sequel, it was that enjoyable. :sunglasses:

5.5 / 10 : at least it's better than SW Ep. 9.

loading replies

funny, ridiculous (possibly satirical?) plot, gal gadot is the literal hottest woman to ever exist

loading replies

It’s a fun ride, but not surprising in the least. Everyone does exactly what you expect of them. It didn’t bother me, because that’s almost always the case with these actors. I was expecting a light action comedy and I got just that. This was never gonna win Oscars and it doesn’t have to. Don’t think too much about it and it’s fine.

loading replies

I can see the executives talking:
we are gonna make a movie with the most carismatic actors out there, make a fun adventure, with plot twists, and treasure hunt... and and with a jungle... and.. Nazis!
-but sir... it's too much of everything... how do you plan to make money?!
- Let's spend a whole lot of money in it!

-... ok sir.

watched this movie just for Ryan Reynolds. I will never get tired of his humor

loading replies

If you've seen the Community episode about grifters then you've seen this movie.

loading replies

I didn't hang on. The humor is heavy. I thought it was gonna be better

loading replies

With that cast you maybe predict more quality but this movie is soooooo predictable.

loading replies

National Treasure meets Ocean's Twelve, starring Deadpool.

loading replies

It is a good movie unpredictable many twist. Recommended movie. Enjoy it.

loading replies

A spoof film with some cheese and predictable plots but it had it's comedy and the cast weren't bad and i enjoyed it but nothing amazing tho.

loading replies

Netflix is becoming the go to place for mediocre movies . Should have been great fun but instead it’s mostly dull

loading replies

Went with zero expectations. That probably helped me in not disliking this movie.

The best Action movie Netflix has made till now even though that’s like saying I stayed at the best hotel in Afghanistan.

BTW, there is better sexual chemistry between siblings than between DJ and Gal Gadot.:see_no_evil::thinking:

loading replies

A mindless action film that is only somewhat redeemed by Reynolds' performance. The plot and characters were all forgettable and uber run of the mill.

loading replies

Like a computer generated fairy tale, Red Notice is predictable, poorly structured and so tame that not even the kids will get into it.

This movie would be more interesting, exciting, and bloody if Red Notice referred to marking the calendar when her period starts.

loading replies

I thought this was a fun movie! It delivered exactly what i expected.

loading replies

What do you get when you cross a $200 million budget and 3 major Hollywood actors? This giant turd. Pretty much everything sucks about this. There is no script, the effects are terrible, Ryan Reynolds is Deadpool, The Rock is The Rock, and Gal Gadot is just the worst. Predictable garbage movie where 90% of the budget went to the 3 main actors so the script and everything else took a major hit. Watch Indiana Jones instead.

loading replies

Don’t expect much. You’ve seen this before and better, but this one has the Rock and the very fast becoming boring sassy Ryan Reynolds trope.

Not bad, but eh.

loading replies

Mediocre movie - Reynolds makes the same jokes he does in all of his movies and the plot twists are so obvious that it hurts and for "masters of their trade" the lead characters are acting pretty idiotic at times.

If you got time you have nothing to do with, you might give it a try, otherwise I wouldn't bother.

loading replies

This movie is entertaining but I can't quite shake the feeling that this is just a culmination of Netflix analytics. It includes so many different genres - all incredibly well liked - and overall so many things like being selfaware and selfreferencing, having a twist or two at the end and more.
This on the one hand leaves kind of a bitter aftertaste, on the other hand the movie dances on so many parties that it only ever scratches the surface.

The chase at the very beginning and camera overall are awesome however.

loading replies

This movie is like Bollywood's Abbas Mastan movies with a big production value and perfect Corporate Cast. Lol. Crrringe.

loading replies

Fun but nothing amazing. Some funny moments. The only thing I really disliked was Ritu Arya, did not enjoy her acting at all.
The Ed Sheeran cameo was a nice touch and hilarious.

loading replies

This movie just double cross after double cross, I really like the cast tho

loading replies

The movie tries to be relatable.
Great Actors don't mean a great movie.
Literally was nothing that kept me interested. Even the ending doesn't make sense.
They made this for the money.
A pretty shitty heist movie. 4/10.

loading replies

Apparently this is Netflix's biggest budget ever for a feature film.

But all that money could've gone towards a third season of 'Mindhunter', but we can't have nice things.

loading replies

It was great indianajones-esque fun. You can never go wrong with Ryan. The cinematography was beautiful at times and the action sequence in the beginning was chefs kiss

loading replies

All I’ve got to say is… The Rock is the luckiest man on earth in kissing Gal Gadot… that is my review

loading replies

Great action sequences ruined by too many twists. If you've seen the heist episode from Rick & Morty, this will hit you particularly hard. It's just completely crazy and that's why the second half of the movie loses steam it builds in the first half. Ryan Reynolds does very well playing Ryan Reynolds. Rock does very well playing the Rock. Gal Gadot, as we all know, has no discernible talents.

loading replies

While this movie can be fun at times, it also is aggravatingly mediocre, bordering on bad. The writing is lazy for the most part (there are a couple clever plot twists, to be fair), and it's a fairly paint-by-the-numbers film. Everybody's dad sucks, making everyone's backstories boring because they're basically the same. Much of the first half of the film is spent making fun of Dwayne Johnson for being big. And while the writing is bad (with some severely misandrist unxertones), the story is boring and the whole film feels lazy, but the worst sin this film commits is making it nearly impossible to like or respect the main characters. The FBI agent is embarrassingly incompetent. The thief is annoying and kind of a jerk. The main villain is the most likeable character, which doesn't really work when the movie is trying to make us root against her.

This movie is watchable, to some extent, yes, but unfortunately, that's the highest praise I can give this film.

loading replies

I wasn’t really paying attention it was an okay film - but Ed Sheeran in it made me laugh so much he was the best part of the film

loading replies

The good news: the first ten minutes and the last ten minutes aren't too bad. The bad news: the rest of the film is really mediocre. So what is wrong with the film? It's hard to say. After all, it follows the template created by so many films before it: attractive people filmed in exotic locations, historical mystery, buddy comedy, road trip, snarky dialog. I think the major problem is that there really isn't much chemistry between Johnson and Reynolds. If a buddy comedy is done well the viewer finds himself wanting to hang out with the buddies. I think the second problem is Gadot. Sure, she is lovely to look at and I think she has worked really hard on her acting. She doesn't embarrass herself.... she just has zero charisma on screen. She isn't sexy, alluring, or prominent in any way. It is if she is nothing more than an ornament in the film.

A raucous action-comedy, Red Notice is a lot of fun. When he’s framed for stealing a bejeweled egg, FBI agent John Hartley teams up with a notorious art thief to catch the person responsible for setting him up by heading her off before she finds the last two eggs in the set. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot, the film has a solid cast that delivers strong performances. Johnson and Reynolds have good comedic chemistry and handle both the comedy and the action especially well. Additionally, the fight and chase scenes are dynamic and exciting. Red Notice is an entertaining adventure that’s full of laughs.

loading replies

It's very entertaining, specially if you are an Indiana Jones movies fan.

loading replies

Reynolds is as likable as ever here, but his shtick just doesn't change at all from movie to movie. At this point, he's not even really playing a new character here; he's just playing himself pretending to play that character, and the novelty is definitely wearing off for me. As for the main crew of three here as a whole, they do solid work and have a good rapport, but the script is as derivative as can be and the tropes are constantly flying. All in all, it's enjoyable, but not remotely memorable. It's more than just a cash grab, but not by much.

loading replies

This is exactly what you'd think it would be...a fun ride. Mostly sticks to the script, but it has some nice twists and turns. I think it really would have benefited from an R rating, but I guess they were looking for a bigger audience. The ending left me feeling like it wasn't quite right, but it might be just me. Definitely worth a watch.

"A good night's sleep? I thought that planning was the most important part of a plan."

"Yeah, a lot of people make that mistake."

Make no mistake here though, this is exactly what you think it will be.

"Does the back of your head look like a huge penis? The answer is yes."

Enough said.

Predictable but fun and chock full of action...

...and the gorgeous Gal Gadot

Get a pizza and a beer and leave your brain at the door.

It's got Deadpool, Wonder Woman and The Rock in it (I appreciate that these are characters themselves from different movies or TV shows, It just so happens that they appear in this aswel. IMO). It's also very boring. It's so boring I can't remember most of what I've just watched; I only know I didn't like it.

I expected more, but it was OK for one time watch

This movie did not disappoint! This movie might have saved 2021 the year of bad movies. Yeah it's a must watch.

Paint by numbers, with a plot unchanged from a dozen other movies. Is the Reynolds stick still funny somewhere?

loading replies

Fair movie it was an enjoyable watch but nothing more. 6.4/10

loading replies

Not a great movie (not at all) but also not that bad. And there's Gal Gadot, so they are not really 2 hours wasted.

loading replies

idk ... i just .. yeah. i don't know.

loading replies

Reynolds plays himself.
Johnson plays himself.
Gadot was the only one that surprised, for once her "acting" felt natural.

It's a fun little ride, just don't forget to leave your brain at the door.

loading replies

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, so at the beginning I was a bit skeptical about "Red Notice". My expectations were limited.
But I was proven wrong. The mix of action and humor, largely driven by Ryan Reynolds, was really likeable and I felt entertained. However, it certainly won't be my new favorite movie.

loading replies

The movie was fun to watch but ofc has cliche scenes and repetitive in many times

but this trio was gold!! I didn't realize that I needed to watch these 3 in one film, Ryan was the best for me so funny LOL

it seems like it has a potential of getting a sequel so when that happens I'll be excited

loading replies

A fun movie for a Sunday afternoon with family, especially a pre-teenager and a grandma/pa.
No, nothing like Indiana Jones, doesn't have that quality. But if you don't take the movie too seriously it's fun and relax to watch.

loading replies

A muddled effort. Seems they were going for a hybrid of Ocean’s Eleven and Fast and Furious franchises. Which they comes up way short.
Plot is so thick of holes it’s not even worth talking about. There are few laughs here and there courtesy of Ryan Reynolds and few decent action scenes.
Considering it is on Netflix, if you have time to spare and nothing else to watch then go for it.

loading replies

I probably liked this one a bit more than it deserves, but Red Notice was not a bad couple of hours. Just not as good as it could have been. Very shallow, and very little substance to the story, but it had some fun parts.
I guess having one of the most beautiful women in the world in the movie also helped a bit.
Does that make me shallow? Probably... Do I care? Not the slightest...

loading replies

missed opportunity! big stars and nth else is great about this film

loading replies

Whether you watched this movie for Ryan Reynolds (adorable wisecracks), Gal Godot (Beautiful fight sequences) or Dwayne Johnson (Action Adventure), you will find them here. No surprises, just hijinks and banter. I give this film a 7 (good) out of 10. [Action Adventure]

loading replies

Action and comedy film without much more pretensions than to entertain you for almost two hours, it is never taken seriously and that is appreciated. Ignore the "by the hair" and the thousands of script holes, you just enjoy.
Films and Chips Podcast, episode 10x11

loading replies

Honestly, just jolly good fun for nearly two hours. This role really suited Gal Gadot too, the other two you get what you expect from, which isn't a bad thing in an action-comedy.

And props for the twist, didn't see it coming. That's a rarity in this day and age for me.

loading replies

Great movie? No. Bad movie? Also no. Just a enjoyable and fun 2 hours where each of the three leads is exactly what you expect them to be.

loading replies

It's alright. But there's literally an episode of Rick & Morty based around pitching a heist movie idea to Netflix. This is that movie. This has all the tropes they're making fun of.

The Rock is The Rock, Ryan Reynolds is DeadPool (which I enjoyed) and Gal Gadot is a model trying and failing to be a decent actor. No one but Reynolds is remotely believable (sort of) in the role they're playing and all the action is unnecessarily way over the top (like the recent Black Widow film) but overall I don't regret watching it. Got a few laughs out of it. On par with a Netflix quality movie.

loading replies

It's a fun movie, but Gal Gadot continues her streak of bad acting...

loading replies

I enjoyed it but the style of videography in which it was shot left much to be desired. Gave me bad 90’s TV show vibes: too many close up scenes, too many weird transitions and somehow too crisp.

loading replies

It’s certainly not a great movie as, despite the double crosses, it is exactly as you would expect given the actors in the leads. However, it is reasonably enjoyable all the same, even when it threatens to derail itself with one cringey cameo.

loading replies

Decent film. Had a couple nice twists and the cast is great. Loved seeing Gal Gadot as a villain! It's somewhat predictable as it follows a general formula for this type of film, but all in all it's well written and done well.

Minor plot hole: They are in Rome, then 56 hours later in Bali then 36 hours later in Rome for The Rock's character to be getting on another flight home 'in an hour' when she catches up to him. How does that make sense? Why go back to Rome after Bali for that short amount of time to just go back home? Why not go straight home the normal way from Bali? This absolutely didn't make sense and it wasn't explained. It bothered me a bunch because flight hopping like that is not easily done. And not just about the timing, but also the sense of going back to a place very far out of the way of 'going home' for such a short amount of time. Rant over.

loading replies

Yes this move looks worse and shot mostly in front of the green screen, but this shit is still way more entertaining than No Time to Die. Reynolds and The Rock have more chemistry than Bond and Madeline.
