Red Eye 2005

Red Eye is fun as long as you don't analyze it too critically. Rachel McAdams is great and the story is engaging. It knows better than to get bogged down in its subplots and wisely focuses on its narratives' strengths.

I love movies that concentrate on building a good story. This one is worth watching. It's not a master piece, but it definitely get your attention.

Been almost 20 yrs since I first saw this. Was fun to McAdams, Murphy and Cox two decades younger, but this one misses more than it hits. I still was entertained for the most part, but I kept eye rolling harder and harder as we progressed. A generous 5.9 for the decent acting. The script was pretty mediocre.

Extra half star for the villainous Cillian. A cute little tight 90 from Craven. File this one under "Post-9/11 Horror".

EDIT: Also, I have a fun fan theory that Glenn Howerton took notes from Cillian Murphy on how to develop Dennis Reynolds for Always Sunny. Just some sort of je ne sais quoi of Murphy's that Howerton pilfered so that he could build what I believe to be one of the funniest TV characters of all time. No data to back this up other than vibes (and the fact that this came out as they would have been writing Season 2), but I want to believe it, y'know?

"So what is it you do?"

I had no idea Wes Craven directed this! It was fun watching something with a little different style than he is used to doing. Rachel McAdams kills it as usual but Cillian Murphy being a punching bag had me cracking up.
